About Southern China
Southern China is a Chinese restaurant located at 591 Warren Coleman Blvd, Concord, NC 28025, USA, serving the Concord area with a variety of Chinese culinary offerings. For inquiries or to place orders, you can contact them at (704) 795-6244 or via their mobile number +1 704-795-6244. As a local Chinese restaurant, Southern China primarily caters to those seeking convenient take-out options, although it does offer a few small tables for customers who wish to dine in.
Based on the available customer reviews, the experience at Southern China appears to be somewhat inconsistent. One reviewer, who visited when their usual Chinese restaurant was closed, described their experience as disappointing, particularly after a friend had recommended the place. This customer noted that while there are a few small tables available, the establishment seems more geared towards take-out service. They also found the woman at the counter to be "very cold and unfriendly," which detracted from their overall impression. Despite the quick preparation of the food, their experience once they took the meal home was largely negative.
According to this reviewer, the egg rolls were "adequate," but the quality declined with the subsequent dishes. The hot and sour soup failed to meet expectations, lacking the characteristic flavors of a traditional hot and sour soup. The crab rangoon was reported as "not crisp," which is a key textural element of this popular appetizer. The chicken lo mein was described as "somewhat greasy," although the noodles had a pleasant "al dente" texture. However, a significant criticism was the scarcity of chicken in the lo mein, requiring a considerable effort to find any. Overall, this customer characterized the food as "typical Americanized Chinese food with little flavor" and suggested that those seeking authentic Chinese cuisine could find better options nearby. They expressed surprise at reviews claiming the food was authentic, suggesting that such opinions might stem from limited experience with diverse Chinese dining.
In contrast to this negative experience, another reviewer had a "super good" experience at Southern China. They specifically praised the "jumbo garlic shrimp," noting the generous size and quantity of shrimp, which they found to be a significant improvement over other restaurants where shrimp portions are often small. This customer also enjoyed the "simple and so good" fried rice and highly recommended trying Southern China, stating that it would be their "go to place from now on." This positive review highlights the potential for satisfying dishes at the restaurant, particularly the garlic shrimp and fried rice.
The contrasting feedback suggests that the quality and consistency of the food at Southern China might vary. While one customer found several dishes to be lacking in flavor and poorly prepared, another praised specific items for their quality and generous portions. This inconsistency could make it difficult for potential new customers to predict their experience.
The environment of Southern China, as described by one reviewer, is primarily focused on take-out, with only a few small tables available for dining in. This suggests a functional rather than an elaborate or comfortable dine-in setting. Customers looking for a more formal or spacious dining atmosphere might find the limited seating and take-out focus less appealing. However, for those prioritizing convenience and quick service for take-out, this setup may be suitable.
Information regarding additional services, such as delivery options or online ordering, is not provided in the available reviews. It is also unclear whether Southern China offers any specific features that distinguish it from other local Chinese restaurants. The menu appears to consist of standard Americanized Chinese dishes, with some potential highlights like the jumbo garlic shrimp.
Currently, there is no information available regarding any promotional offers or specials at Southern China. Local users interested in potential discounts or deals would need to contact the restaurant directly to inquire about such opportunities.
In conclusion, Southern China in Concord, NC, is a Chinese restaurant that appears to cater primarily to take-out customers, with limited dine-in seating. Customer reviews present a mixed picture, with one recent experience being largely negative, citing issues with food quality and unfriendly service, while another praised specific dishes like the jumbo garlic shrimp and fried rice. This inconsistency suggests that the quality of the food and service might vary. Potential customers should consider these differing experiences when deciding whether to patronize Southern China. For those interested in specific menu items or services, or to inquire about any current promotions, contacting the restaurant directly is recommended.

Customer Reviews
My usual go to Chinese restaurant was closed. A friend told me this place had good food so we decided to go there. I now question their judgment. Although there are a few small tables this place is definitely more suited for takeout than dining in. The woman at the counter was very cold and unfriendly. The food was cooked very quickly however. We took the food home. The egg rolls were adequate. It went downhill from there. The hot and sour soup was neither. The crab rangoon was not crisp. The chicken lo mein was somewhat greasy although the noodles were a pleasant Al dente. I did have to search very hard to find any chicken in it however. Overall this is typical Americanized Chinese food with little flavor. If you're searching for authentic Chinese food there are far better options some very close. I was very surprised by some of the reviews that said this is authentic Chinese food. If they're experiencince in Chinese dining is limited to take out Chinese food from strip malls then that may be authentic to them. The online reviews seem to be hit or miss. I definitely hid it on a miss day. I will not be returning and I certainly will not miss it.
Super good Chinese food! We ordered jumbo garlic shrimp and usually the shrimp are small and you have to hunt for the three in the dish. These shrimp were huge and there were a lot of them. Fried rice was simple and so good. Highly recommended to try. Definitely our go to place from now on.
My husband and I were craving some Chinese food for dinner. We ordered the sweet & sour pork & General Tso's chicken and egg rolls as well as fried dumplings. The food was exceptionally bland and we questioned whether we had chicken or pork at all because the meat didn’t taste good. The egg rolls were super doughy and oily and the dumplings were oily, soggy and undercooked. We unfortunately did not finish our meals and sadly won’t be returning.
Got some takeout for work.....food was pretty good....I love the fried rice as they put onions in it like Dragon Palace does which Dragon Palace was closed down which led me to southern China.....will come back and try some other items....this plate was only half of my order
I’m extremely disappointed with my recent experience at your restaurant. I ordered Hunan chicken, only to find a hair in it—a revolting discovery mid-meal. When I called to ask for a replacement, I was shocked by the rude response I received. The owner demanded I provide evidence of the hair, as if my word wasn’t enough, and insisted that without a photo, they wouldn’t remake my order. I had already disposed of the hair in disgust, so this ‘proof’ request was both unreasonable and insulting. Even worse, I was told that if I wanted a replacement, I’d have to drive back today, despite my work schedule and the fact that I live over 20 minutes away. It’s not practical for me to drop everything just to accommodate such an inflexible demand, especially after being treated so rudely. I have always appreciated this restaurant, but this experience—with both the hair in my food and the dismissive, rude response from the owner—has completely changed my opinion. This is not the level of customer service I expect, and I hope you take this seriously to prevent other customers from going through something similar.
