About South China
South China is a Chinese restaurant located at 1502 Wyoming Blvd NE, Albuquerque, NM 87112, USA. They can be contacted at (505) 323-0072 or +1 505-323-0072.
As a Chinese Restaurant, South China has become a local favorite, especially renowned for its appetizers. Customers rave about their fried wontons, which are filled with white meat chicken and served with a delicious sweet and sour sauce. According to one enthusiastic reviewer, nobody in Albuquerque makes better fried wontons.
Another popular item is their Pu pu platter, which includes a variety of classic Chinese-American appetizers such as chicken, ribs, fried shrimp, egg rolls, and the highly praised wontons. The Pu pu platter is available in different sizes, with a picture showing a platter suitable for three people.
South China also offers a take-out service. One customer shared a positive experience where, despite arriving shortly before their afternoon closing time (2:30 PM to 4:30 PM, although it's recommended to check their website for operating hours), the restaurant readily prepared a family meal for two. The reviewer found the portion size to be generous for the price, describing it as standard but satisfying "Chin-Amer fare" with plenty of leftovers. They specifically mentioned the sweet and sour pork, noting the large yet tender pieces of pork. Overall, they found no bad dish in their meal and recommended managing expectations, as it's not fine dining but good, solid food.
It is important to note that South China prefers cash payments and charges a 3.5% fee for card transactions. For those looking for excellent Chinese appetizers and a satisfying, reasonably priced meal, South China is a recommended local option in Albuquerque.

Customer Reviews
You guys. This is our absolute favorite place to get appetizers in Albuquerque. Nobody, I say nobody has better fried wontons! They’re filled with white meat chicken. They also have great sweet and sour sauce. Another wonderful thing is their Pu pu platter. It comes with chicken, ribs, fried shrimp, egg rolls, and wontons. The one pictured is for 3. Bring cash and avoid a 3.5% charge for cards.
Should have looked at their website for operating hours, and didn't know they close from 2:30 to 4:30PM, yet when we showed up a few minutes before the afternoon close, they had no problem whippin' us up a take-out family meal for 2. While waiting, we visited the guitar shop--located right next to them--which was convenient. Late lunch was quite a lot of Chin-Amer fare for a great price, honestly. It was standard stuff, but perfect for two large humanoid dudes, with plenty of leftovers for whenever. I will say their S&S Pork was made with huge chunks of swine, yet was still very tender. All-in-all there wasn't a bad bite of food in the whole feast. We weren't expecting fine dining, and recommend others should limit their expectations as well. Nice job, South China...
We wanted to try this because it is close to home. We were very disappointed. The fried rice was dry. The sweet and sour pork was way overcooked, the egg roll was chewy and the sweet and sour soup was too sweet and too big of chunks. Can't take a bite without cutting it first.
Travelers stay away. I'm sure locals love the food but if you passing by or visiting this won't be that good compared to other parts of the country. I travel a lot and it's below basic in taste.
Came here with a coworker and had lunch. Tiny place I'd never see if I had been driving around looking for somewhere to eat. My coworker informed me that the lady who owns it runs everything by herself. Very impressive, the food was great. The service was great. Highly recommend if you're looking for a quick, quiet place with really good fried rice.
