About Soul of China

Soul of China, situated at 50855 Washington St #2-F in La Quinta, California, is a Chinese restaurant offering a variety of dishes to local residents and visitors. As a Chinese restaurant, Soul of China aims to provide a culinary experience featuring traditional and popular Chinese flavors, with options for both dining in and taking away.

Customer reviews regarding Soul of China present a somewhat polarized view, with some praising certain aspects of the dining experience while others express significant dissatisfaction. One reviewer enthusiastically described the restaurant as a "golden nugget in La Quinta," highlighting the "great service" as a primary positive attribute. They also commended the food, noting it was "great, with lots of flavor and perfectly seasoned." This reviewer specifically recommended the assorted appetizer plate and found the spare ribs to be "perfect." They also enjoyed the sweet and sour chicken and pork, praising the crispy and flavorful batter used for frying.

This positive review also touched upon the restaurant's ambiance, suggesting that while the physical space "could get some love," the quality of the food is the main draw. This indicates that while the environment might be perceived as somewhat lacking, the culinary offerings have the potential to impress. The reviewer concluded by stating their intention to return and confidently recommended Soul of China as a Chinese restaurant.

In stark contrast, another customer reported a highly negative experience, describing the chicken in garlic sauce and fried rice as the "absolute worst" they had encountered across more than five states. This reviewer stated an "absolute no" for them, citing several issues with their order. They found the rice to be mushy and poorly seasoned, and the chicken was described as chewy, suggesting it might have been boiled rather than stir-fried in a wok. The garlic sauce was deemed the "worst part over all."

Interestingly, this negative review offered a contrasting opinion on the restaurant's atmosphere, giving it five stars and describing it as a "cute place." This further emphasizes the divergence in customer experiences, with the ambiance being a potential positive for some while the food quality is a significant concern for others. The same reviewer also found the wontons to be "very undesirable," placing them near the bottom of their list of wonton experiences.

To form your own opinion or to place an order, Soul of China can be contacted at (760) 564-4469 or via mobile at +1 760-564-4469. The restaurant is located at 50855 Washington St #2-F, La Quinta, CA 92253, USA.

Given the conflicting reviews, it's challenging to provide a definitive assessment of the overall experience at Soul of China. It appears that certain dishes, such as the assorted appetizers, spare ribs, and sweet and sour options, have garnered positive feedback for their flavor and preparation. On the other hand, dishes like the chicken in garlic sauce, fried rice, and wontons have been met with strong criticism regarding texture and taste.

The service seems to be a consistent positive, with at least one reviewer explicitly praising it as "great." This suggests that the staff at Soul of China are attentive and welcoming, which can contribute to a more pleasant dining experience regardless of the food quality. The environment, however, seems to be an area that some customers feel could be improved.

As a Chinese restaurant, Soul of China likely offers a menu that includes a variety of classic Chinese-American dishes, potentially featuring noodles, soups, various meat, poultry, and seafood entrees, and vegetarian options. Without a full menu available in the provided text, it's difficult to specify the full range of their offerings. However, the reviews mention specific items like assorted appetizers, spare ribs, sweet and sour chicken, sweet and sour pork, chicken in garlic sauce, fried rice, and wontons, providing some insight into their menu.

There is no promotional information included in the customer reviews. It would be advisable to contact the restaurant directly to inquire about any current specials, lunch deals, or other promotions they might be offering.

In conclusion, Soul of China in La Quinta presents a somewhat unpredictable dining experience based on the available reviews. While some customers have enjoyed flavorful dishes and excellent service, others have been highly disappointed with the quality of certain menu items. The ambiance appears to be a secondary consideration for some, while others might find it charming despite potential needs for updates. Potential diners may want to consider trying dishes that have received positive mentions, such as the appetizers and spare ribs, and approach other items with cautious expectations based on the negative feedback. Ultimately, personal experience may be the best way to determine if Soul of China aligns with individual preferences for Chinese cuisine.

This is a golden nugget in La Quinta! First of all great service. Food is great, with lots of flavor and perfectly seasoned. Try the plate with assorted appetizers, so good. The spare ribs are perfect. Today we tried chicken sweet and sour , and pork sweet and sour. Very good. The batter they fry the chicken in have a great flavor and are very crispy. Restaurant could get some love, but you go here for the food. We are coming back and I can definitely recommend this Chinese restaurant.

Absolute worst chicken in garlic sauce and fried rice I've had in over 5 states. Absolute no for me. So sorry. The rice was mush and not really seasoned. The chicken itself was chewy like it had been boiled and not cooked in a wok. The garlic sauce itself was the worst part over all. It's a cute place though. For atmosphere 5 stars. For food no stars. The wontons were also very undesirable. Not the worst I've had but definitely at the bottom.

I have eaten here previously and still believe it is one of the best restaurants in LaQuinta and very reasonable. We ordered sweet and sour pork, curry chicken, beef, pad Thai and chicken fried rice. We had the springs rolls as appetizers. The sweet and sour pork was delicious as was the chicken fried rice. Service was a little slow and could have been a little more attentive but not bad.

5/5 stars!! My sister and I were craving some soup and got Soul of China takeout. Everything we got (bean sprout lo mein, wonton vegetable soup) was delicious and flavorful but healthy!! I would come back tomorrow and highly recommend. That being said they charge at 4% credit card charge that they didn’t inform me of, so bring cash.

This could possibly be the best sesame chicken I've ever had. The other dishes were excellent as well. The server was very friendly and attentive. Dont sleep on this one. Get in there and try it out.
