About Soo Fong
Located at 3801 3rd Street #370 in San Francisco, Soo Fong operates within the platform category of Chinese Restaurants, providing a consistent offering of familiar Chinese-American cuisine to the local community. Situated in a neighborhood strip mall, this establishment appears to be a reliable spot for those seeking classic flavors and generous portions at reasonable prices.
Customer reviews highlight several aspects of Soo Fong. One first-time customer, who placed an order through DoorDash, found the food to be "delicious" and particularly satisfying on a cold and rainy day. This suggests that Soo Fong is a go-to option for comfort food, especially for takeout and delivery on less favorable weather days. The reviewer also expressed gratitude for the extra care taken in packaging, specifically mentioning the saran wrap placed on the Wonton Soup, which indicates an effort to prevent spills during delivery, even if the delivery person didn't handle the order with utmost care. The soup itself was described as "very comforting" with "delicious wontons," pointing to a well-received classic dish.
Another dish that received high praise was the Mongolian Beef, noted as "delicious" and accompanied by a "generous" serving of fried rice. This suggests that Soo Fong is not only focused on flavor but also on providing ample portions, aligning with the sentiment of "big portions per price point" mentioned by another reviewer. The customer also expressed a desire for chili hot oil, indicating that Soo Fong might offer customization options or that customers with a preference for spicier food might want to inquire about available condiments.
A recurring theme in the reviews is Soo Fong's role as a "neighborhood strip mall establishment consistently serving the familiar taste of Chinese-American cooking." This positions it as a reliable and perhaps nostalgic choice for those accustomed to this style of cuisine. A significant feature mentioned is their "all-day lunch specials," which provide flexibility for customers and allow for "multiple modification" with various chow mein (described as "yummy!") and fried rice options. This customization and the availability throughout the day enhance the appeal and accessibility of their lunch offerings.
Beyond the lunch specials and main dishes, Soo Fong's noodle soups are also recognized for packing "a good amount of flavor," suggesting that this is another area of their menu worth exploring. Additionally, the Salt and Pepper Chicken, Fish, or Pork Chop are highlighted as "clear winners," praised for achieving the right balance of a light crunch and the "fragrant jalapeño-to-onion-to-scallion proportion." This detailed description indicates that these salt and pepper dishes are prepared with attention to texture and aromatic elements, making them standout choices for many customers.
In summary, Soo Fong on 3rd Street in San Francisco offers a dependable experience for those seeking familiar Chinese-American flavors. Key features include generous portions, all-day lunch specials with customizable chow mein and fried rice, flavorful noodle soups, and highly recommended salt and pepper dishes (chicken, fish, or pork chop). The positive comments on dishes like the Wonton Soup and Mongolian Beef further attest to the quality and taste of their offerings. Located in a neighborhood strip mall, it serves as a consistent and convenient option for both dine-in (though not explicitly detailed in terms of ambiance) and takeout/delivery, as evidenced by the DoorDash order.

My first time ordering from here and the food was delicious. It definitely hit the spot on this cold and rainy day. I had placed my order through doordash. I am very thankful that they took extra care by placing saran wrap on the Wonton Soup. Lady who delivered my order didn't really handle my order with care when delivered. The soup was very comforting and delicious wontons. Mongolian Beef was delicious. Generous with the fried rice. I wished I had asked for chili hot oil.
A neighborhood strip mall establishment consistently serving the familiar taste of Chinese-American cooking. Portions are big per price point. All-day lunch specials allow for multiple modification — with various chow mein (yummy!) and fried rice options. Noodle soups pack a good amount of flavor. Salt and Pepper Chicken, Fish or Pork Chop are clear winners, getting the crunch light, the fragrant jalapeño-to-onion-to-scallion proportion just right.
Came here on a Monday night and it was a really hole in the way hard to spot place but worth it! Good: - This place was a great bang for the buck! - The portion sizes were great and I liked the pineapple fried rice with the pork in it - It feels like being back in China since the servers and the vibe is very authentically Chinese Bad: - The place is super casual and it's a bit messy and hard to flag down the servers - It can take some time for the food to arrive Overall a really good place for quick Chinese food and authentic food.
The food is OK, nothing outstanding. I find it inconsistent. Sometimes it is great, sometimes not. My house chow mein have no meat in there, just some onion and two piece of scrab meat. Portion wise is not generous. I really like a family run place than a chain but if there is a chain restaurant right next door that can deliver better food. I will go there.
Well priced quick and simple Chinese restaurant. Don’t expect anything gourmet but for what you pay the size of each dish and quality is good. The staff here is also friendly. There’s not many Chinese food options near Bayview and I recommend that if you’re by this area you should come here. I ordered the curry fried rice, mixed vegetables, walnut shrimp and spring rolls. Thank you for the food Soo Fong!
