The restaurant offers a diverse menu featuring classic dishes such as roasted duck, pork belly, and various dim sum items, making it a popular choice for both locals and visitors alike.
While Siu Lap City is known for its authentic cuisine, the dining experience extends beyond just the food. The restaurant's ambiance creates a warm and inviting atmosphere, perfect for casual meals with family or friends. Patrons appreciate the attentive service and the welcoming environment that makes them feel comfortable and valued.
- Menu Highlights: Siu Lap City offers a variety of traditional Cantonese dishes, including their signature roasted meats like roast pork and duck. They also serve a selection of dim sum, offering a taste of authentic Cantonese breakfast or lunch options.

- Customer Feedback: Siu Lap City has received mixed reviews from customers. While many appreciate the authentic flavors and the cozy atmosphere, recent reviews have pointed out a decline in food quality under new ownership. Despite these concerns, some patrons still find the restaurant worth visiting for its historical significance and charm.
Siu Lap City's journey from a beloved local spot to a place with mixed reviews highlights the challenges faced by establishments when transitioning ownership. While it once was a favorite for quick lunches in midtown Houston, recent changes have led to customer dissatisfaction. However, those who visit Siu Lap City can still enjoy a taste of traditional Cantonese cuisine and experience the warm ambiance that has made it a local institution for years.

Food quality and taste went down substantially under new owner. Pork belly has mostly fat, skin is chewy. Roasted duck tastes plain, one of the most chewy roasted ducks I ever had. Sad, itโs used to be my favorite spot for quick lunch in midtown area.
I hate it when new owners take a place over and immediately cut corners, while raising the prices. You can see in the pictures that everything is dry, and the roast pork had no skin on it. bad enough i stopped mid meal to write this.
Did not know that they were under new management! Been going here for years and new owners are RUDE!! never had a problem with them giving me good portions on my order. They barely gave me anything. I'm guessing because of my ethnicity. I mentioned it to them and they just started talking in a different language amongst themselves. Place wasn't as packed as it usually is. Very underwhelming, I drove 30 mins for a plate I've been craving just to walk out with something that was not worth my money . Last time me going there . Time for me to find a new place to support. Literally got 5 shrimps and a handful of pork ๐๐ฝ NOT WORTH THE $15 i paid ๐ค
Definitely a hidden gem in Houston. The roasted pork belly is wonderful. One of the best I have in Houston and even better than that in my home country. The chiecken dip sauce is good too.
Iโve been here twice since the new owners took over. The portion sizes shrank and the food is no longer good. I usually get the roast duck and pork belly as my weekly order for the past 3 years. I got this last week, the pork belly is not tender or juicy and the skin is no longer crispy. The duck was dry. The only thing that stayed the same was the vegetables. I noticed that store is not as busy as it used to be. If they kept the same quantity and quality I think ppl would return.
