About Silver Sea

Silver Sea is a Chinese restaurant situated at 9 E Main St in Hummelstown, Pennsylvania. As a part of the Chinese Restaurant category, Silver Sea aims to provide Chinese cuisine to the local community. Based on the limited customer feedback available online, there appear to be contrasting opinions on the quality of their dishes, particularly regarding specific menu items. The reviews offer some insight into what customers can expect, but comprehensive details about the restaurant's environment, services beyond food preparation, specific features, or any promotional information are not provided.

One customer review offers a positive assessment of several menu items. According to this feedback, the "rolls and dumplings are delicious," suggesting that these could be standout appetizers or specialty items at Silver Sea. Additionally, the reviewer found the "chicken and rice" to be "tasty," indicating satisfaction with these more standard Chinese dishes. This positive review suggests that Silver Sea has the potential to offer enjoyable food, at least for certain parts of its menu.

However, another customer shared a significantly different and negative experience with a specific dish, the Chicken Chow Mein. This reviewer expressed disappointment, stating that the dish was "not what I expected." They described it as consisting primarily of onions, with a minimal amount of cabbage and "almost no chicken," and lacking in overall taste. To illustrate their point, the reviewer mentioned adding a photo of the Chicken Chow Mein they received. Following their unsatisfactory meal, the customer contacted the manager of Silver Sea to discuss the issue. According to the review, the manager's response was that Chow Mein "is just vegetables." This explanation appears to contradict the customer's expectation of a dish typically containing a more substantial amount of chicken and flavor. The customer's disappointment and the manager's explanation highlight a potential discrepancy in understanding or preparation of a common Chinese dish.

Considering these two reviews, Silver Sea presents a mixed picture. On one hand, some customers find certain items like rolls, dumplings, chicken, and rice to be delicious or tasty. On the other hand, there are significant concerns raised about the preparation and content of at least one dish, the Chicken Chow Mein, as well as the customer service response to the issue. This limited feedback makes it difficult to form a comprehensive and universally positive or negative assessment of Silver Sea as a whole.

As a Chinese restaurant, Silver Sea likely offers a range of familiar dishes, including various noodle and rice preparations, chicken, beef, and seafood entrees, as well as appetizers like rolls and dumplings. Chow Mein is a staple in many Chinese restaurants, typically consisting of stir-fried noodles, vegetables, and protein such as chicken. The starkly different descriptions of this dish in the provided reviews suggest potential inconsistencies in preparation, ingredient ratios, or even different regional interpretations of the dish. The manager's statement that Chow Mein is "just vegetables" is unusual and might not align with common expectations of this dish in American-Chinese cuisine.

For local users in Hummelstown, PA, who are considering Silver Sea, it would be wise to take these contrasting experiences into account. The positive feedback on rolls, dumplings, chicken, and rice might make it worth trying these items. However, the negative experience with the Chicken Chow Mein and the manager's response could be a cause for concern, especially for those looking to order this particular dish or who value a consistent understanding of menu items and responsive customer service. Without more information about other dishes, the overall quality of Silver Sea's menu remains somewhat uncertain based on this limited feedback.

To gain a more comprehensive understanding of Silver Sea, local users might consider looking for additional reviews on other platforms to see if there is a broader consensus on the quality of their food and service. Inquiring about the ingredients and preparation methods of specific dishes, such as the Chow Mein, when placing an order might also be beneficial to ensure it meets expectations. The lack of information about the restaurant's environment, services beyond food preparation (like dine-in, takeout, or delivery), specific features, or any promotional offers means that potential customers must rely solely on these limited, and somewhat contradictory, food reviews.

In conclusion, Silver Sea at 9 E Main St, Hummelstown, PA, is a Chinese restaurant that has received mixed feedback from the few available online reviews. While some customers have enjoyed items like rolls, dumplings, chicken, and rice, at least one customer experienced significant disappointment with the Chicken Chow Mein, which they found to be primarily vegetables with very little chicken and lacking in taste, and was met with a manager's explanation that might not align with typical expectations of the dish. Local users considering Silver Sea should be aware of these contrasting experiences and may want to seek additional information before making a decision.

Rolls and dumplings are delicious, and chicken and rice are tasty, too!

Chicken Chow Mei. Was not what I expected. Basically just onions, with a little cabbage and almost no chicken, no taste. I added a photo of the Chicken Chow Mein they gave me. When called the manager told me Chow Mein is just vegetables.

General tso’s was perfect. Crispy hot chicken, quality meat: not a ton of breading. ** (chow mein is “NY style”, not Panda Express. It is a protein served on a bed of cabbage. If you want noodles, get lo mein)

We ordered from here on 7/5/24 We got a order of sesame chicken with fried rice and a order of the General tso chicken and fried rice both of those were horrible the chicken was like it had sat around all week the sauce was soaked in and kinda dried up wasnt even any kind of extra sauce to help with the fried rice that was mostly hard. The only good thing was the sweet and sour chicken and the shrimp lo main. We will no longer be ordering from them. To pay almost 60. Dollars and most of it went in the trash.

We've eaten here twice. Have spent around $50 each time on take out. The first time we ate here was good. Not amazing but good enough to order again. The second and LAST time. Our order was messed up. The food was incredibly bland and dry. We actually threw some away because it was just bad. I contacted the manager and they were unwilling to give a refund for the mess up. She did however say I could come back to get a replacement anytime. But I wasn't driving another 30 mins to get my food. FYI: despite Googles pictures and description. Silver sea's chow mein does not have noodles in their dish. It's a bowl of soggy cabbage and slimy chicken. With a side of crunchy " fried noodles" which are basically chips
