Located on Mason Avenue, Silver Panda provides a dining option for residents and visitors seeking Chinese food for dine-in or takeout.

The online customer reviews for Silver Panda present a somewhat contradictory picture, highlighting both positive long-term experiences and significant recent concerns regarding the food's flavor. One reviewer stated, "We have been enjoying our dining experience at the Silver Panda for many years. Our friends are also enjoying their wonderful dishes. Thank you." This testimonial from a long-time customer suggests that Silver Panda has been capable of providing enjoyable meals and has garnered a loyal following over the years.
However, a more recent and detailed review offers a starkly different perspective. This reviewer expressed a desire to give a higher rating due to the exceptional sweetness of the "little grandma at the register," describing her as "the sweetest person I ever met." While deeply appreciative of the cashier's demeanor, the reviewer was highly critical of the food, describing it as "bland." They noted that while everything seemed fresh and well prepared, it lacked flavor, even to the point of not tasting any MSG. The reviewer specifically mentioned ordering the Kung Pao Chicken, which appeared correct but had no aroma and was devoid of typical flavors, including the dried chilies. The Hot and Sour Soup was described as only living up to the "hot" part in temperature, but lacking in taste. The Mixed Chow Mien, despite containing various meats and vegetables, was also reported to have no flavor. Even the Togo soy sauce, a "panda brand," was deemed flavorless. As a "curveball," the reviewer also ordered the Fish in Black Bean Sauce, which, despite being covered in black beans, was also bland. The reviewer concluded by expressing a strong hope that the cook would try again, given the niceness of the staff and even the other customers. They paid over $60 for their takeout order and left a $10 tip, indicating a level of goodwill despite their disappointment with the food.
Considering these two reviews, Silver Panda appears to have a history of providing satisfactory dining experiences for some customers over many years. However, recent feedback raises significant concerns about the fundamental aspect of flavor in their dishes. The positive remarks about the cashier suggest that the service, at least at the front of house, is friendly and welcoming. The reviewer who found the food bland also noted the freshness and good preparation of the ingredients, indicating that the issue might lie in the seasoning or the recipes themselves.
As a Chinese restaurant, Silver Panda likely offers a menu featuring a variety of classic and popular Chinese dishes. The mention of Kung Pao Chicken, Hot and Sour Soup, Mixed Chow Mien, and Fish in Black Bean Sauce suggests a fairly standard selection of American-Chinese cuisine. Kung Pao Chicken is typically a spicy stir-fried dish with peanuts and vegetables; Hot and Sour Soup is known for its vinegary and peppery broth; Mixed Chow Mien is a noodle dish with various meats and vegetables; and Fish in Black Bean Sauce is a savory dish featuring fermented black beans.
The detailed negative review provides some insight into the potential environment of the restaurant. The fact that the reviewer placed a takeout order suggests that this service is available. The interaction with the cashier implies a physical location where customers can place and pick up orders. The presence of other customers who were described as "gentle" indicates that there is likely a dine-in area as well, although the size and ambiance are not described.
The services offered by Silver Panda include at least takeout and likely dine-in, given the long-time customer's reference to "dining experience." Delivery service is not mentioned in the reviews, so its availability is unknown. The positive comments about the cashier suggest friendly front-of-house service.
Features of Silver Panda are somewhat ambiguous based on the conflicting reviews. The long-term satisfaction of some customers could indicate a history of well-received food. The exceptionally sweet and friendly service from the cashier is a notable positive aspect. However, the recent strong criticism regarding the blandness of multiple dishes across different categories raises concerns about the current quality of the food itself. The use of fresh and well-prepared ingredients, as noted even by the critical reviewer, could be a potential feature if the flavor issues are addressed.
The provided text does not contain any information about current promotional offers or special deals at Silver Panda. Local users interested in such information would need to check local advertising platforms or contact the restaurant directly using the provided phone numbers.
In conclusion, Silver Panda in Chatsworth, CA, presents a complex picture. While it has a history of satisfying customers over many years, recent feedback indicates a significant issue with the flavor of their dishes, despite the apparent freshness and proper preparation of the ingredients. The service, particularly from the cashier, is noted as exceptionally friendly. For local users considering Silver Panda, it may be prudent to weigh the positive long-term experiences against the recent criticism regarding bland food. Potential customers might also consider inquiring about the current chef or any recent changes in the kitchen. If the flavor issues have been addressed, Silver Panda's friendly service and history of customer satisfaction could make it a worthwhile local Chinese restaurant to try. However, based on the most recent detailed review, caution is advised regarding the taste of the food.

Customer Reviews
We have been enjoying our dining experience at the Silver Panda for many years. Our friends are also enjoying their wonderful dishes. Thank you.
To be brutally honest I really want to give this place a higher rating just because the little grandma at the register was the sweetest person I ever met. Makes me wish that she was my grandma but alas, the food was to be blunt, bland. Everything seemed fresh and well prepared but literally had no flavor. I didn’t even taste MSG! I ordered the kung pao chicken, which looked right but had no aroma whatsoever and was devoid of anything that would normally have taste on its own. Even the dried chilies were flavorless! The hot and sour soup only lived up to the hot part but only in temperature, the mixed chow mien had all sorts of meat like things and vegetables but again nothing to taste! Even the Togo soy sauce which was some panda brand was flavorless. I even threw in a curveball and ordered the fish in black bean sauce and that was, though covered in Chinese black beans, bland. I really wish the food actually tasted like food but it’s the weirdest matrix glitch I’ve ever experienced. Paid a little over $60 for the meal Togo and tipped $10. I really hope that they have their cook try again because the people were so nice. Even the customers were gentle.
The egg foo young is incredibly horrible! I don't even think they use real egg. Maybe potatoes or something for the egg foo young. $17 shrimp fried rice with 4 shrimp. Chicken and cashews is just Kung Pao chicken with cashews. And just big big cut up pieces of green and red peppers with absolutely no love. I mean absolutely no love went into my take out order tonight. It's real sad. $60 for 4 things
Soooo delicious! Fantastic service and great atmosphere! Love this place!
By far my local favorite. Generous portions. Excellent service.
