About Silky Kitchen

Welcome to Silky Kitchen, a fast-casual Chinese restaurant situated at 12 John St, New York, NY 10038, USA, in the bustling Financial District. As a Chinese restaurant operating in the fast-casual model, Silky Kitchen provides a convenient option for locals seeking authentic Chinese food, specializing in rice noodle and rice-based dishes. The establishment offers both dine-in and takeout services, catering to individuals looking for a quick meal on the go or a casual dining experience.

Based on recent customer feedback, Silky Kitchen operates with a counter-service model. Customers can place their orders at a kiosk or directly with the person behind the counter. Once the order is placed, customers receive a number and are called when their food is ready, indicating a made-to-order approach. One reviewer noted a wait time of approximately 10 minutes for their meal, which aligns with the expectation of freshly prepared food in a fast-casual setting. This system suggests a focus on efficiency while still preparing dishes individually.

However, some aspects of the dining experience at Silky Kitchen have received mixed reviews. One customer described their visit as "a bit off," citing issues with the flavor balance of their meal. The beef noodles were characterized as "very mild in flavor," which might not appeal to those seeking a more robust taste. Additionally, a side dish of string beans was found to be "overly salty," leading to an overall imbalance of flavors in the meal. This feedback suggests potential inconsistencies in food preparation and seasoning on certain days or across different dishes. The reviewer concluded their experience feeling "underwhelmed," indicating that the meal did not meet their expectations in terms of taste.

Another reviewer offered a more balanced perspective, acknowledging that the food was "pretty decent for the amount you get." This suggests that Silky Kitchen may offer reasonable portion sizes relative to its pricing, which could be a positive aspect for budget-conscious diners. The reviewer also noted being "surprisingly adequate" with the amount of meat received, which is often a point of concern for fast-casual meals. However, this customer also pointed out areas for improvement, specifically mentioning that the beef soup was served "not hot at all." The temperature of soup is a crucial element for both taste and food safety, and receiving lukewarm soup can significantly detract from the dining experience. This indicates a potential issue with quality control or holding temperatures for certain menu items.

Furthermore, the same reviewer suggested that there is "still room for improvement" overall, implying that while the food might be acceptable, it does not necessarily stand out as exceptional. This aligns with the previous reviewer's feeling of being underwhelmed. Additionally, a notable concern was raised regarding the cleanliness of the bathroom, which is an important aspect of the overall dining environment and can significantly impact a customer's perception of the restaurant's hygiene standards. This feedback suggests that Silky Kitchen may need to address its maintenance and cleaning protocols to ensure a more positive experience for its patrons.

In summary, Silky Kitchen presents itself as a fast-casual Chinese restaurant in a convenient Financial District location, specializing in rice noodle and rice dishes with a made-to-order service model. While the restaurant appears to offer reasonable portion sizes for its price, customer reviews indicate potential inconsistencies in food quality, particularly concerning flavor balance and serving temperature. There also seems to be room for improvement in maintaining the cleanliness of the facilities. Based on the available information, there are no specific promotional offers mentioned. Local users considering Silky Kitchen should be aware of the mixed feedback regarding food quality and hygiene standards and may want to manage their expectations accordingly. It might be beneficial to try a variety of dishes to form a personal opinion on the overall quality and value offered by Silky Kitchen.

A simple counter-service spot offering rice noodles and rice dishes, though the quality felt a bit off during my visit. The beef noodles were very mild in flavor, while the string beans side dish was overly salty, leading to imbalanced flavors overall. It might have been an off day, but I left feeling underwhelmed.

Fast casual serving authentic chinese food. There is a kiosk or order through the person behind the counter. Then, they give you a number and they call out the food. The wait time was around 10 minutes since it is made to order. I was not expecting to get a lot of meat but for the price it was surprisingly adequate. However, the beef soup was not hot at all. Overall, it is pretty decent food for the amount of you get, but there is still room for improvement. Also, the bathroom could be cleaner.

I had the Chairman Maos Favorite Braised Pork, and it was tasty and cooked perfectly. Marinated perfectly. I got it with rice and medium spicy level, and it was spicy enough. I think the spicy is quite hot, so be aware, this place does not mess around if you want spicy. Plenty of seats to dine in.

I really loved the food and came here with my friend and her family, for all 5 of us it came up to about $79 I think but it was really good and I couldn’t even finish a bowl since there was a lot of food. It was really delicious and the flavoring was on point. I enjoyed the wall art and the cozy atmosphere they had there it all seemed like a nice place to eat at. I will definitely be visiting this place after school cause it’s a nice hang out spot to eat at.
