About Silk Road

Welcome to Silk Road, a distinctive Chinese Restaurant located at 2929 Westpark Dr in Houston, TX. Situated within a hotel, Silk Road offers a different dim sum experience compared to traditional establishments. Patrons have expressed initial skepticism due to its hotel location but were ultimately delighted by the quality and freshness of the food.

A notable feature of Silk Road is its approach to dim sum service. Unlike restaurants with slow or cart service where food may have been sitting under warmers, Silk Road prepares each dish fresh to order. This results in hot and very tasty, traditional Chinese cuisine. A standout dish mentioned by reviewers is the stir-fried beef noodles, made in-house with fresh noodles and described as awesome. The turnip cake also received high praise, with one customer suggesting it might be the best they have ever tasted.

The restaurant's location near West University makes it a convenient alternative for residents in that area and surrounding regions who previously had to travel to Chinatown for their dim sum cravings. While being located in a hotel means that prices might be slightly higher than at an average dim sum place, customers have generally agreed that the excellent quality of the food justifies the cost. The ambiance is also described as very cute.

On one occasion, the restaurant was noted to be short-staffed, leading to slightly slower service. However, the staff, particularly an individual named Devin, were commended for their graciousness and efforts to provide excellent hospitality. Devin even offered complimentary bites to make up for any service hiccups. Despite this minor issue, the overall sentiment from reviewers is highly positive, with many expressing their intention to return due to the delicious food and pleasant experience.

In summary, Silk Road offers a fresh and high-quality take on Chinese dim sum in a comfortable hotel setting. Its made-to-order dishes, especially the stir-fried noodles and turnip cake, are highly recommended. If you are in the West University area or looking for a unique and delicious dim sum experience, Silk Road is definitely worth a visit.

I was skeptical... I really was. Dim sum restaurant in a hotel? It was only because it was so close to West U that I gave it a try but I am so happy I did! Everything I tried was delicious including some classic renditions of old favorites that I have always loved. They hit it out of the park. I particularly liked the stir fried noodles (beef). The noodles are made fresh in house and it was awesome! I also particularly liked the turnip cake which is something I merely tolerated when getting dim sum at other sites. If you like turnip cake, this might be the best I've ever had. It's a different experience than I was expecting since most places I have been at have slow or cart service with food that has been under warmers. Everything we ordered was made fresh for us and arrived hot. Very traditional and very tasty. Highly recommend if you live in the West U or surrounding region! It's nice to know we don't have to continue to drive to Chinatown for our ~monthly dim sum outing.

It is a hotel, so prices are a bit higher than your average dim sum place. Regardless, the place is delicious and very cute. The food has excellent quality. The day we went, they were down a couple of employees so service was a bit slower, but they were all so gracious and trying their best. Devin was extremely hospitable and gave us some bites to taste free of charge to make up for the hiccups. Overall, I would go back again because I loved it.

This is the best dim sum place in town. It is expensive but the quality is great! The taste matches what they charged. The chili oil is delicious and full of chili aroma! They are currently soft-opening and the tea is free for this month. We will come again.

Great food and friendly service. All items prepared fresh with very fresh ingredients. Crispy shrimp is a must try, but everything we ate was wonderful.

This Hong Konger can't have enough of their fresh ingredients, made from scratch sauces, high grade tea leaves and delicate dim sum. I went back again and again to make sure the quality is consistent ... and yes it is still solid as hell. So graceful they brought this level of culinary art to Houston, and the space provides elegant comforts without the pretentious fine dining vibe. Yes, there's always good dim sum for less in Chinatown, and this place is for people who appreciates fine food up a level.
