About Sifu Wong Kitchen
Welcome to Sifu Wong Kitchen, a Chinese restaurant located at 1219 Wildwood Ave in Sunnyvale, California. Situated within the Chinese Restaurant category, Sifu Wong Kitchen offers a distinctive dining experience, particularly noted for its approach to dim sum service. This introduction aims to provide a comprehensive and objective overview of the restaurant based on the available customer reviews, covering aspects such as the environment (inferred from service style), services offered, features of their cuisine, and any indications of value or potential drawbacks that local users might find relevant.
Environment:
One of the initial and crucial pieces of information from the reviews is that Sifu Wong Kitchen operates as a dim sum restaurant but "does not have circulating trolleys or trays." This deviates from the traditional dim sum experience where customers select dishes from carts wheeled around the dining area. Instead, at Sifu Wong Kitchen, "orders are placed in advance, and can be added on demand." This suggests a more controlled and potentially quieter environment compared to the bustling atmosphere often associated with dim sum trolleys. Customers likely browse a menu and place their initial order with a server, with the option to order additional items as their meal progresses. This made-to-order approach might appeal to those who prefer freshly prepared dishes and a less chaotic dining setting. However, it also means that the visual aspect of selecting dishes directly from a passing trolley is absent.
The reviews do not provide specific details about the decor or overall ambiance of the restaurant beyond this description of their service style. The focus is primarily on the food and service quality. However, the efficient and attentive staff mentioned in one review might contribute to a pleasant dining environment, regardless of the decor.
Services:
Sifu Wong Kitchen clearly offers dine-in service, allowing customers to enjoy their meals at the restaurant. The description of their dim sum ordering process indicates a structured table service where orders are taken and dishes are brought to the table. One reviewer praised the staff as "attentive and efficient," which is a significant aspect of good service and suggests that customers can expect a responsive and organized dining experience. The same reviewer also indicated they would "definitely try them again for lunch/dinner service," implying that Sifu Wong Kitchen likely offers a broader menu beyond dim sum, available during different meal times.
Takeout service is not explicitly mentioned in the reviews, but it is a common offering for Chinese restaurants, especially those serving a variety of dishes. Local users interested in ordering food to go should contact the restaurant directly to inquire about their takeout options and procedures. Similarly, delivery service is not mentioned in the reviews, and its availability would need to be confirmed with the restaurant.
The positive feedback on service, with staff being attentive and efficient, suggests a focus on customer satisfaction. This is a crucial element that can enhance the overall dining experience, complementing the quality of the food.
Features:
The reviews provide insights into the quality and variety of the food at Sifu Wong Kitchen. One reviewer stated that "everything we ordered came to the table at an appropriate temperature and was absolutely delicious." This broad praise suggests a high standard of food preparation across the dishes they sampled, indicating that the chef is skilled and the kitchen maintains good quality control.
However, another reviewer offered a more nuanced perspective, highlighting both strengths and weaknesses. They agreed that "the chef knows how to cook," which echoes the positive sentiment about the food quality. However, they specifically critiqued the "salt and pepper pork chops," noting that they "don’t have many pieces and most are fat," concluding that it is "not worth the price." This feedback points to potential inconsistencies in the value and composition of certain dishes, where the proportion of desirable ingredients might be low.
Furthermore, this reviewer raised concerns about the "indistinguishable" ingredients and flavors in some dishes. They provided the example that "the fried noodle and the tofu dish have the same sauces" and that "both contain the same squid." This suggests a lack of distinctiveness in the flavor profiles of different menu items, which could be a drawback for customers seeking a diverse culinary experience. The reuse of sauces and ingredients across multiple dishes might indicate a lack of creativity or an attempt to streamline kitchen operations at the expense of flavor differentiation.
Despite this criticism, the initial reviewer's overall positive experience suggests that many dishes at Sifu Wong Kitchen are indeed delicious. Potential customers might need to be mindful of the specific dishes mentioned in the negative review when making their selections.
The unique approach to dim sum service, with orders placed in advance rather than selected from trolleys, is also a key feature of this restaurant, differentiating it from more traditional dim sum establishments.
Promotional Information:
The provided customer reviews do not contain any explicit promotional offers, discounts, or special deals. However, the strong positive endorsement from one reviewer stating that everything they ordered was "absolutely delicious" serves as a significant implicit promotion for the overall food quality at Sifu Wong Kitchen. The fact that they would "definitely try them again for lunch/dinner service" also suggests a high level of satisfaction that could attract new customers.
Conversely, the negative feedback regarding the salt and pepper pork chops being overpriced and fatty, as well as the indistinguishable sauces and ingredients in some dishes, could act as a cautionary note for potential customers. These comments might deter those specifically interested in these types of dishes or those seeking distinct and well-valued menu options.
To learn about any specific promotions, such as lunch specials, family deals, or discounts on certain days or for specific ordering methods, local users are encouraged to contact Sifu Wong Kitchen directly at (408) 212-4903 or +1 408-212-4903. They may also have a menu available online or at the restaurant that details any special offers.
Overall Impression:
Sifu Wong Kitchen in Sunnyvale offers a unique dim sum experience with an order-in-advance system, setting it apart from traditional dim sum restaurants with circulating trolleys. One customer reported an entirely delicious meal with attentive and efficient service, expressing a desire to return. This suggests that Sifu Wong Kitchen has the potential to provide a very positive dining experience.
However, another reviewer highlighted some significant drawbacks, including overpriced and fatty salt and pepper pork chops and a lack of distinctiveness in the sauces and ingredients across different dishes like fried noodles and tofu. This indicates potential inconsistencies in the quality and value of certain menu items.
For local users in Sunnyvale looking for a Chinese restaurant, particularly one offering dim sum with a different service style, Sifu Wong Kitchen presents a mixed picture based on these reviews. The strong positive feedback on the overall deliciousness of the food and the attentive service are definite draws. However, the criticisms regarding specific dishes and the lack of flavor differentiation should also be considered. Potential customers might want to inquire about the preparation and ingredients of the salt and pepper pork chops and be mindful of the possibility of similar sauces being used in multiple dishes.
To make an informed decision, it would be beneficial to view the menu if available and perhaps try a variety of dishes to form a personal opinion on the quality and value offered by Sifu Wong Kitchen. The positive service and the praise for the chef's cooking suggest a solid foundation, but the inconsistencies in specific dishes are areas where potential customers might want to exercise caution.

This dim sum restaurant does not have circulating trolleys or trays. Orders are placed in advance, and can be added on demand. Everything we ordered came to the table at an appropriate temperature and was absolutely delicious. Staff were attentive and efficient. Between the food and service, I would definitely try them again for lunch/dinner service.
The service is great. The chef knows how to cook. However, the salt and pepper pork chops don’t have many pieces and most are fat. It is not worth the price. The ingredients and flavors are indistinguishable. For example the fried noodle and the tofu dish have the same sauces. Both contain the same squid.
One of best Cantonese dim sum place in South Bay area. Friendly, efficient staff. Amazing food with precise, authentic flavor. Reasonable price, can’t ask for more. One of the must-try dish is Cantonese fried duck. One of the best I can find in the area. Highly recommended!
Food was okay, pretty average. Peking duck wasn't worthwhile, skin was not crispy and the buns they used were dry. The Lychee shrimp ball was unique though! And Black Buns with salted egg Yolk was good!
If you are looking for a place to get good dim sum and Chinese food, try Sifu Wong. In the weekends, make sure to get here early or make sure you plan to put your name on the waitlist. The dim sum is always good and consistent. Check for the specials. We’ve had $29 garlic whole crab and it was pretty good. Our daughter loves the XLB, baked pork bun and the salted egg bun as well. I always order the roasted duck. Larger parties are no problem here. This is located at the Ramada Hotel in Santa Clara. Try this place out and you won’t be disappointed.
