About Sichuan Palace
Welcome to Sichuan Palace, a Chinese restaurant located at 343 Calhoun St in Cincinnati, Ohio. As a part of the Chinese Restaurant category, Sichuan Palace aims to provide a diverse menu of Chinese cuisine, with a particular focus on Sichuan flavors, known for their bold and often spicy profiles. Based on recent customer feedback, Sichuan Palace offers both dine-in and potentially takeout services, catering to the local community and visitors in the Cincinnati area.
While specific details about the ambiance and environment of Sichuan Palace are not extensively described in the provided reviews, one customer noted that the majority of diners were Asian, which they took as a positive indicator of the food's authenticity. This suggests that Sichuan Palace might offer a more traditional Chinese dining experience compared to some Americanized Chinese restaurants. Customers can likely expect a standard restaurant setting suitable for enjoying a meal with family and friends. The mention of easy parking is a practical advantage for those choosing to dine in, although it's noted that the restaurant might be busier during lunch hours.
In terms of services, Sichuan Palace primarily functions as a dine-in restaurant. The positive review mentioning a return visit implies that they accommodate repeat customers. The availability of a phone number, (513) 954-8008 or +1 513-954-8008, suggests that customers can likely make reservations or place takeout orders. The first review details specific dishes ordered during two separate visits, indicating a menu with a variety of options beyond just standard fare. The second review also mentions the option to add more spices or hot peppers to dishes, suggesting a willingness to cater to customers who prefer a more intense level of heat, a hallmark of Sichuan cuisine.
The features of Sichuan Palace, as gleaned from the customer reviews, highlight both strengths and areas for potential improvement. One customer praised the "spicy grilled fish" and the "twice cooked pork" as being "very good" on their first visit. These dishes appear to be popular choices and potential specialties of the restaurant. However, the same reviewer expressed disappointment during a subsequent visit with two other dishes. The "Maoxuewang," traditionally a dish based on duck blood, was served without this key ingredient, and the reviewer felt that customers should be informed of such omissions before ordering. Additionally, the "spicy chicken pieces" were described as "very small and dry" with little chicken flavor. This suggests some inconsistency in the preparation or quality of certain dishes.
Despite these criticisms, the second reviewer, who identifies as Chinese, found the food to be "definitely a good place for some Chinese food," reinforcing the idea of authenticity. They noted that the flavor was "balanced and not heavy on sauce," which can be a sign of more traditional Chinese cooking. While they observed a slight "American touch" in the sweetness of some dishes compared to what might be found in China, they still found the food to be "fairly tasty." The option to add more spices caters to those seeking a more authentic Sichuan heat level.
The contrasting experiences in the first review suggest that while some dishes at Sichuan Palace are well-executed and flavorful, others might be inconsistent in quality or preparation. The positive comments on authenticity from a Chinese customer are a strong indicator of the restaurant's potential for those seeking genuine Chinese flavors. However, the issue with the Maoxuewang and the spicy chicken highlights the importance of consistency and clear communication with customers about dish ingredients and preparation.
Currently, the provided information does not include any specific promotional details for Sichuan Palace. Restaurants often have lunch specials, seasonal dishes, or other promotions to attract customers. To find out if Sichuan Palace is currently offering any special deals or has a specific menu with discounted prices during certain hours, it would be best to contact the restaurant directly using the provided phone numbers: (513) 954-8008 or +1 513-954-8008. In conclusion, Sichuan Palace in Cincinnati, OH, offers a range of Chinese dishes, with some customers noting a level of authenticity in their flavors. While the spicy grilled fish and twice cooked pork have been praised, there have been concerns raised about the consistency and preparation of other dishes like the Maoxuewang and spicy chicken. The option to customize spice levels is a notable feature for those who enjoy authentic Sichuan heat. For local users seeking a Chinese restaurant with potentially more traditional flavors and easy parking, Sichuan Palace is worth considering, but it may be prudent to inquire about specific dishes before ordering based on recent feedback. Contacting the restaurant directly for information on their current menu, promotions, and services is recommended.

Customer Reviews
The first time we ordered the spicy grilled fish, it was very good, the twice cooked pork was also very good, the second time we were a little disappointed. Maoxuewang should be a dish based on duck blood, but there was no duck blood in it. I think at least we should tell the guests about it before they order. The spicy chicken pieces were very small and dry, and there was no chicken taste when you bite into them. I don't recommend these two dishes, but I think the other dishes are okay!
Definitely a good place for some Chinese food. You can tell from the majority of customers that come to dine in are Asian that the food is authentic (I'm Chinese). The flavor was balanced and not heavy on sauce. I would say there is still an American touch since some of the dishes are sweeter than you would find at a restaurant in China, but still fairly tasty. You do have the option to add more spices or hot peppers as well. Parking was easy to find, but I would expect to be more busy during lunch hours.
This place is absolutely amazing—by far the best Chinese food I’ve ever had! The pork fried rice was flavorful and came in a portion big enough to share (though you won’t want to). The fried dumplings were crispy, delicious, and generously served, making them a perfect starter. The twice-cooked pork was the real standout—tender, flavorful, and served in a portion so hearty I had leftovers to enjoy the next day. The quality and quantity here are unmatched. I’ll definitely be back soon!
Sichuan Palace is a great spot for authentic Chinese Sichuan cuisine with flavors to tailor your spice preference. The staff is friendly and attentive, ensuring your meal suits your taste.
Simply fabulous. Everything was served with perfection. Everyone working was so kind and attentive. Excellent recommendations and checking back to see if our food was done to our liking. The hot and sour soup was such a perfect balance and a perfect way to start our meal. The crab Rangoon were delicate and flavorful, probably the best I have had. Everything was outstanding and the service was perfect. This is a must try there is nothing that will disappoint you here.
