About Sichuan Fusion
Sichuan Fusion is a Chinese restaurant located at 3288 Pierce St Ste B-109 in Richmond, California. Situated within the bustling Ranch 99 complex, Sichuan Fusion offers a diverse menu that showcases the bold and distinctive flavors of Sichuan cuisine, while also incorporating some fusion elements. Based on customer reviews, the restaurant is known for its fresh and flavorful dishes, friendly service, and a casual dining atmosphere. It caters to both those who enjoy the fiery heat of Sichuan spices and those who prefer milder options.
The ambiance of Sichuan Fusion is described as "super casual," which is typical of many authentic Chinese restaurants. Customers should expect a functional and unpretentious setting focused primarily on the food. One reviewer noted that having some familiarity with Chinese restaurants and perhaps speaking Chinese could enhance the overall experience. However, this does not necessarily deter non-Chinese speakers, as another reviewer who was introduced to the restaurant by a friend had a "super fun lunch" and praised the service.
The service at Sichuan Fusion is generally well-regarded. One reviewer specifically mentioned that "our server, and everyone at the was friendly and helpful." This positive feedback indicates that the staff is attentive and willing to assist customers, contributing to a pleasant dining experience. Even for those who might not be fluent in Chinese, the friendliness of the staff appears to create a welcoming environment.
A key feature of Sichuan Fusion is its authentic and flavorful Sichuan cuisine, with a variety of dishes catering to different spice preferences. For those sensitive to spice, the "really solid garlic glass noodles with shrimp" are highly recommended. This dish is described as non-spicy but with "great flavoring" and "tasty noodles with just enough sauce." The inclusion of shrimp makes it a substantial and satisfying option. To counter the heat of spicier dishes, the restaurant provides "really good" soy milk, which is effective in cooling the palate.
For those who enjoy the characteristic spiciness of Sichuan cuisine, Sichuan Fusion offers several appealing options. The "spicy noodles" are described as "tasty" with a "chewy" texture, suggesting a satisfying mouthfeel. The "sour and spicy fish soup" is also highly praised, with the fish being described as "so soft and tender." This dish exemplifies the complex flavor profiles often found in Sichuan cooking, balancing sourness and spiciness with the delicate texture of the fish.
To complement the richer and spicier dishes, the "boiled spinach" is noted as a good and mild contrast. This simple vegetable dish provides a refreshing balance to the more intense flavors on the menu. The "lotus root and beef" is another dish that received positive feedback for its taste and the tenderness of the beef, although it is noted to be spicy. This highlights the restaurant's ability to prepare tender and flavorful meat dishes with a Sichuan kick.
Beyond the dishes mentioned by the first reviewer, a second reviewer who had a "super fun lunch" with a friend shared several other highly recommended items. The "salt and pepper tofu" was described as "fried to perfection" with a "soft & silky inside." This textural contrast is a hallmark of well-prepared tofu dishes. The "Sichuan style twice cooked pork bacon" was praised for being "very flavorful with the perfect heat level," indicating a balanced and authentic Sichuan flavor profile. The "spicy garlic eggplant" is another dish that caters to those who enjoy both flavor and spice.
The "crispy noodle chicken" was a new and enjoyable experience for the reviewer. This dish features crispy noodles under a layer of "delicious chicken, mushrooms and fresh Vegis," providing a delightful textural contrast. The "pan fried chive turnover" was also noted as a "fun dish," suggesting a unique and interesting addition to the menu.
A couple of practical tips were provided by the second reviewer. Parking can be challenging due to the restaurant's location within the busy Ranch 99 complex, which houses multiple shops and eateries. Therefore, customers should be prepared to spend some time finding a parking spot, especially during peak hours. Additionally, there is a small incentive for customers paying in cash: a free mini ice cream. This is a nice little bonus that adds a sweet ending to the meal.
In summary, Sichuan Fusion offers a wide range of authentic and flavorful Sichuan dishes, with options to suit both spice lovers and those who prefer milder flavors. The restaurant is praised for its fresh ingredients, well-prepared dishes, and friendly service. While the ambiance is casual, the quality of the food and the welcoming staff make for a positive dining experience. The standout dishes mentioned include the garlic glass noodles with shrimp, spicy noodles, sour and spicy fish soup, salt and pepper tofu, Sichuan style twice cooked pork bacon, and crispy noodle chicken. The free mini ice cream for cash payments is a small but appreciated perk. Potential customers should be aware of the potential parking challenges due to the restaurant's location in a busy complex.
Currently, there is no specific promotional information beyond the free mini ice cream for cash payments mentioned in the reviews. I didn't expect to like this as much since I'm a little sensitive when it comes to spicy food, but I liked it! Good: - Really solid garlic glass noodles with shrimp - not spicy, but great flavoring and tasty noodles with just enough sauce! - The soy milk they give out here is really good if you need something to cool the spiciness away - The spicy noodles are tasty - chewy noodles - The sour and spicy fish soup was really good as well - so soft and tender - The boiled spinach was good in comparison to all of the spicy dishes - Lotus root and beef was tasty but spicy - the beef was so tender Bad: - Takes some time for the food to come out - The place is super casual ambiance wise, you have to be used to Chinese restaurants and speaking Chinese to have the best experience Overall would come again, good authentic Chinese food.
Super fun lunch with a friend who introduced me to this restaurant in the Ranch 99 complex. We shared the salt and pepper tofu, Sichuan style twice cooked pork bacon, spicy garlic eggplant, crispy noodle chicken and pan fried chive turnover. Everything was super fresh and steaming hot. The tofu fried to perfection and soft & silky inside. We agreed to try item we had never had before and the twice cooked pork bacon and crispy noodle chicken were two of those items. The pork was very flavorful with the perfect heat level, and the crispy noodles under the layer of delicious chicken, mushrooms and fresh Vegis lent the perfect texture. The chive turnover was a fun dish. Our server, and everyone at the was friendly and helpful. I will definitely be back. Two things to know, parking can be a challenge as it is a busy area (there are multiple restaurants and shops in the complex, plus Ranch 99) and if you pay in cash, you get a free mini ice cream.
Came here many years ago to have lunch on a whim but totally forgot about it until today when I wanted to try a different Chinese restaurant. I decided to order some food from Sichuan Fusion since I haven't gone back there in years but I've anyways passed by it when I'm over at the mall for other things. We were feeling lazy and it was raining like crazy outside and didn't feel like going out so we odered for delivery. We ordered chicken fried rice, vegetarian hot sour soup, spicy Tan Tan mien noodles, and what looked like a combination stir fried hand made noodle dish that we got by mistake which was supposed to be the Beef Chow Fun. The chicken fried rice was pretty good. It was light in oil, seasoned well, and had a decent light wok flavor. The vegetarian hot sour soup was nice and hot when we got it and it was full of ingredients that I couldn't even name. The soup stock was flavorful but a bit heavy on the vinegar. I still enjoyed it alot. The Tan Tan noodle was a bit heavy in oil but that was expected since part of the sauce included hot chili oil. The sesame sauce was very good in flavor but seemed to be missing something. I can only say that after eating the same type of noodle at Shang Dong restaurant in Oakland I haven't found any other place that can compare. The mistake dish that we got which I think is a stir fried combination hand made noodle had really nice fresh made noodles that were cooked just right and had a nice chewey consistency. The dish also had large pieces of lightly battered chicken, shrimp and beef. I really enjoyed this mistake. Hahaha. What was that song that had the lyric about being my favorite mistake? 😍 Overall, I really liked the food and next time I'm at the Pacific East Mall I'll stop by and try out some other dishes from Sichuan Fusion. Update March 9, 2024. Came here to celebrate an occasion and decided to try out the Sichuan Fusion restaurant since our previous experience was good with the delivered food. Unfortunately, this time, our sit-down dining experience was very disappointing. We ordered the combination fried rice, beef Cheung Fun, deep fried fish, sizzling beef and mushroom, and tender tofu and egg stew. The fried rice was extremely salty to the point that we had them take it back to get a new one but they came back out with the same dish but just added some extra rice in it. This didn't help at all since the old fried rice was overly saturated with salt and the chicken and other meats were salty as the sea. The extra rice they added only dampened the saltiness by just a tiny bit. The rest of the food was mediocre at best with little flavor. The only thing that was good was the tofu egg stew and the fried fish. We were so disappointed with the food that we didn't even eat half of it and just took it home so I could touch it up for dinner the next day. Not sure what happened between the time we ordered for delivery to the time we came here to eat but can't help but think that it was such a letdown. Maybe they changed cooks or the other one was off.. who knows, but wow.. not good.
We order a spicy braised whole fish, on the topping there are big shrimps, clams, calamari, wood ear and ton of veggies! Great value! We also ordered Dan Dan noodle, the portions are generous as well. Plus there’s fresh soy milk is super authentic. I would definitely comeback to this place!
If you want to know what great food tastes like, look no further. I’ve been coming here for the past 5+ yrs and they never disappoint. The food may be oily, but the flavors are unmatched. I HIGHLY recommend the uygur beef, shredded pork with fresh chili, chongqing style chili chicken, spicy beef combo, and salt and pepper tofu!!! I hope this helps :)
