Based on customer reviews, Sichuan Fortune House has cultivated a loyal following, with one reviewer proclaiming it their "go-to Sichuan place in the Bay Area." This long-time patron specifically raves about the crispy beef, which has been a favorite dish for over a decade and is something they crave even after moving abroad. This strong endorsement speaks volumes about the quality and consistency of this particular dish.

In addition to the highly praised crispy beef, the same reviewer also highlighted several other favorite dishes, including the spicy Sichuan dumplings, the boiled fish soup with chilies, sautéed string beans, and pea sprouts. This suggests that Sichuan Fortune House offers a range of authentic and flavorful Sichuan specialties beyond just one signature dish, catering to those who appreciate the diverse and bold flavors of this regional Chinese cuisine.

Regarding the service, one reviewer noted that it "can be slow at times, but is very kind." This indicates that while the restaurant might occasionally face staffing or volume challenges that could impact the speed of service, the staff are generally perceived as friendly and well-intentioned. Another reviewer echoed the positive sentiment about the server, describing her as "great" and "really hardworking." This particular visit occurred on a quiet night with only two tables occupied, but the restaurant was reportedly busy with pick-up orders. This observation suggests that Sichuan Fortune House is a popular choice for both dine-in customers and those preferring to enjoy their Sichuan food at home.

The second reviewer also commented on the food being "great" and the price being "reasonable." This further reinforces the positive aspects of dining at Sichuan Fortune House, indicating that the quality of the food aligns with customer expectations and that the pricing is considered fair for the value received. The fact that this positive experience occurred even on a night when the server was working alone and the restaurant was busy with takeout orders speaks to the efficiency and dedication of the staff.

For local users in Pleasant Hill and the surrounding Bay Area who are seeking an authentic Sichuan dining experience, Sichuan Fortune House appears to be a highly recommended option. The consistent praise for dishes like the crispy beef and the positive mentions of other Sichuan staples like spicy dumplings and boiled fish soup suggest a kitchen that is skilled in preparing traditional flavors. The acknowledgment of potentially slow but kind service indicates that while there might be occasional delays, the overall hospitality is welcoming.

The restaurant's popularity for pick-up orders also suggests that their food travels well and is enjoyed by those who prefer to dine at home. This could be a convenient option for local residents who crave the specific flavors of Sichuan cuisine but may not have the time to dine in. The reasonable pricing, as mentioned by one reviewer, makes Sichuan Fortune House an accessible option for experiencing this distinct regional Chinese cuisine without breaking the bank.

While the reviews do not explicitly detail the restaurant's ambiance or decor, the focus on the food and service suggests a priority on delivering an authentic culinary experience. Love the food and this is my go-to Sichuan place in the Bay Area. The crispy beef has been my favorite dish for over 10 years and is what I get cravings for since I now live abroad. The spicy Sichuan dumplings, boiled fish soup with chilis, sautéed string beans and pea sprouts are also favorites. Service can be slow at times, but is very kind.

Server was great, really hardworking. She was working alone, it was a quiet night, only 2 tables were filled though but really busy with pick-up. Food was great, and price was reasonable.

My cousin recommended this place so we went here for early dinner (6pm). The restaurant had limited parking spot and lots of take out customers came. The dining area was pretty big with lots of tables. However, there was only 2 ladies serving all the tables & the take out orders, so it took a while to catch their attention for ordering. - Sichuan spicy crispy beef: delicious! The beef was super crispy yet the meat inside wasn’t tough. It was a tad sweet & very spicy. But we love it! - Spicy shredded potato: good. Potato was soft yet still had some crunch. Not too salty & good amount of spice. - Prawn with honey glazed walnut: super good! The prawn pieces were big & cooked perfectly. The honey glazed sauce was good - not too sweet & just enough sauce. Taste wise, the food was delicious! However, my only complaint was the portion. They were quite small for the price. After the 3 adults finished the meal, we were still a bit hungry. We would come back to try other items when we are in the area.

Went there on a Sunday around 6, and had to wait 1 hour just for the appetizers?! Only 1 person was working as a waitress and behind the counter. Not good service. The food is good. No fortune cookies, sadly. Also, there are no lights in the parking lot, so be careful. If you don't mind waiting what feels like forever for your food to arrive, then you might enjoy this place. 😐

This is the best Sichuan place in Bay Area. If you don't like hot and numbing sensation, stay away from their spicy/hot food, they use generous amount of Sichuan peppercorns. If you love authentic Sichuan food, this is the place to be. This is a family-run business, service can be slow. Boiled fish and crispy beef are my favorite go-to plates.
