About Shunju Chinese and Japanese Cuisine

Shunju Chinese and Japanese Cuisine is a restaurant located at 733 Turnpike St in North Andover, MA 01845, USA. As its name suggests, Shunju operates as both a Chinese restaurant and a Japanese restaurant, offering a diverse menu that includes a variety of dishes from both culinary traditions. Local users in North Andover and the surrounding areas can contact Shunju for orders or inquiries at (978) 681-1888 or via their mobile number +1 978-681-1888. For those seeking a single establishment that caters to cravings for both Chinese and Japanese cuisine, Shunju presents itself as a convenient option.

Examining the recent customer reviews provides a mixed perspective on the dining experience at Shunju Chinese and Japanese Cuisine. One reviewer described a somewhat unusual visit. They noted that the bartender was often absent after each interaction and that the lighting was very dim, with "no lights on except a TV." While they found the quietness to be a "peaceful experience," it also gave the impression that "the place was closed" despite being open. On a positive note, this reviewer found the food to be "tasty." However, they were critical of the bartender's social skills, stating she had "zero social skills" and was "definitely in the wrong business." The reviewer concluded by suggesting they might try visiting on a different day or time to see if their experience would vary, indicating an openness to giving Shunju another chance despite the initial impressions.

Another reviewer offered a more general assessment, stating that Shunju was "not bad but nothing crazy either," suggesting a somewhat average experience. They mentioned ordering a combination of dishes from both the Japanese and Chinese sides of the menu, including "shrimp tempura, California rolls, chicken/broccoli and fried rice." Their feedback on the sushi was simply "ok," while they noted that they liked the shrimp tempura "better." A point of criticism was that they felt Shunju used "too much sauce on their plates" and found the food to be "a little bit salty." This suggests that while the food might be palatable, there could be areas for improvement in terms of sauce application and seasoning.

Based on these reviews, Shunju Chinese and Japanese Cuisine offers a blend of Chinese and Japanese dishes. The food quality appears to be decent, with one reviewer finding it "tasty" and another finding some items like the shrimp tempura to be better than others. However, there are concerns raised about the restaurant's atmosphere, particularly the dim lighting and the perceived lack of attentiveness from the bartender. Additionally, there is feedback suggesting that some dishes might be overly sauced and slightly too salty. The social skills of at least one staff member were also called into question.

Regarding the environment of Shunju, one reviewer explicitly described it as dimly lit with only a TV providing light, creating an atmosphere that felt almost closed despite the restaurant being open. This suggests a potentially unusual or perhaps unwelcoming ambiance for some diners. The small amount of information available makes it difficult to provide a comprehensive description of the restaurant's overall environment or décor.

The services offered by Shunju include both Chinese and Japanese cuisine, catering to a broad range of preferences. The fact that customers ordered sushi, tempura, and traditional Chinese dishes like chicken and broccoli with fried rice indicates the availability of a diverse menu. While one reviewer experienced issues with the bartender's attentiveness, the service in general is not extensively commented on. It can be inferred that takeout service is likely available, as is common for both Chinese and Japanese restaurants, although this is not explicitly stated in the reviews. Dine-in service is also available, as indicated by the reviewer who sat at the bar.

Features of Shunju include its dual offering of Chinese and Japanese cuisine, providing a convenient option for those who enjoy both types of food. The menu includes popular items such as sushi (California rolls), tempura (shrimp), and classic Chinese dishes (chicken and broccoli, fried rice). While the food is generally described as acceptable ("tasty," "not bad"), there are mentions of excessive sauce and saltiness in some dishes. A notable negative feature, according to one reviewer, is the poor social skills of at least one staff member, which could impact the overall customer experience.

Currently, there is no information available regarding any promotional offers or discounts at Shunju Chinese and Japanese Cuisine. The customer reviews focus solely on their experiences with the food, service, and atmosphere. Local users interested in finding out about any special deals, combo meals, or loyalty programs would need to contact Shunju directly using the provided phone numbers.

In conclusion, Shunju Chinese and Japanese Cuisine in North Andover, MA, offers a unique combination of two popular Asian cuisines under one roof. While the food is generally considered palatable, with some dishes like the shrimp tempura receiving positive mentions, there are concerns about excessive sauce and saltiness. The restaurant's environment is described as dimly lit, which might not appeal to all diners, and there are reports of inconsistent service. For local users seeking the convenience of both Chinese and Japanese options in one place, Shunju might be worth considering, but it would be prudent to be aware of the potential drawbacks highlighted in the customer reviews regarding atmosphere and food preparation.

Not much to say. Bartender disappeared after each interaction. No lights on except a TV. Although it was a peaceful experience with the quietness, it was like the place was closed while I was there. Food was tasty. The woman bartender had zero social skills. Definitely in the wrong business. I guess I should try on a different day different time to see if there is a difference.

Not bad but nothing crazy either. I have tried better asian restaurants. We ordered shrimp tempura, California rolls, chicken/broccoli and fried rice. Sushi was ok, I did like the shrimp tempura better. I feel that they use too much sauce on their plates and a little bit salty.

Drove by here 40,000 times before I knew it existed. Finally stopped and had half Chinese half sushi half liquor. The pan fried ravioli were perfect in texture and flavor. Food came out quick and hot. Other than some Andover parents’ screaming kid the atmosphere was nice. This is now our go-to Chinese/sushi spot in one.

What a horrible experience buying food in this restaurant. I ordered 2 fried rice, (only put one) a Sweet chicken but they gave me a spicy chicken and when I called to ask why they sell it as sweet the person in the phone said that was the only sweet chicken they had. Please don’t try the crab Rangoon. Horrible taste. I must have imagined it when I saw only one person at the bar at the time of picking up.
