Shun Xing operates as a Chinese restaurant, which typically includes establishments that specialize in preparing and serving food originating from China. These restaurants often offer a diverse menu featuring various cooking styles and dishes that cater to local preferences while maintaining the essence of Chinese cuisine. Based on customer reviews, Shun Xing offers combination orders and a variety of popular dishes.
To provide a comprehensive introduction to Shun Xing Restaurant, it is crucial to consider the recent feedback shared by its customers through online reviews. These reviews offer insights into various aspects of the restaurant, including food quality, portion sizes, and hygiene.
One customer shared an overwhelmingly positive experience, stating that "EVERYTHING was fantastic!" They specifically highlighted the combination order of broccoli beef, noting that it was not overly sauced, the broccoli and carrots were not overcooked, and the beef was very tender. While mentioning the sauce was "strong," they indicated they would order it with "easy on the sauce" next time, suggesting a high overall satisfaction with the dish. This combination also included pork fried rice, which was described as fantastic and not greasy, and a large roll that was only "alittle greasy" (considered normal for such items). The customer expressed loving the entire meal and even included a picture to showcase the roll.
The same reviewer also mentioned their husband's order of sweet and sour chicken, which came with hot and sour soup. The husband reportedly found the soup to be "very good" with a lot of vegetables. His meal also included a roll, again described as great and pictured by the reviewer, who emphasized that it contained a significant amount of meat rather than being mostly vegetables with minimal meat.
In stark contrast, another customer shared a negative experience related to hygiene. They mentioned being excited to find a good local Chinese place but were disappointed upon opening their wonton soup to find a hair inside. They noted that neither they nor their bald husband had hair matching the description (short and wavy), suggesting it might be similar to a dog hair, as mentioned in other reviews. This experience was clearly a significant concern for this customer.
Considering these two reviews, we see a significant divergence in customer experiences at Shun Xing Restaurant. One customer found the food to be exceptionally good across multiple dishes, praising the preparation, flavor, and the generous amount of meat in the roll. The other customer, however, reported a serious hygiene issue that overshadowed their initial optimism.
Based on the positive review, the environment of Shun Xing Restaurant might be conducive to producing high-quality food, with attention paid to the preparation of individual components like the broccoli beef and the rolls. The fact that a customer was compelled to take pictures suggests that the presentation and portion sizes were notable. However, the negative review raises concerns about the kitchen or food handling practices if hair was found in the soup.
The services offered by Shun Xing Restaurant likely include both dine-in and takeout options, as is typical for a local Chinese restaurant. The provision of a phone number indicates that customers can place orders for pickup. The combination orders mentioned in the positive review suggest a value-oriented way to sample different dishes. While not explicitly stated, delivery services might also be available, so local users would need to inquire directly about this option.
Features of Shun Xing Restaurant appear to include a menu with well-received combination orders, such as the broccoli beef with pork fried rice and a roll. The sweet and sour chicken with hot and sour soup and a roll was also praised. A notable feature seems to be the quality and quantity of meat in their rolls, as highlighted by one reviewer. The broccoli beef was commended for not being overly sauced and having tender beef and properly cooked vegetables. However, the reported issue with hair in the wonton soup is a significant negative feature that potential customers should be aware of.
Promotional information is not explicitly provided in the given reviews. Local Chinese restaurants often utilize various methods to attract and retain customers, such as daily specials, lunch deals, or family meal options. The combination orders themselves could be seen as a form of value promotion. To learn about any other current promotions at Shun Xing Restaurant, local users would need to contact the restaurant directly or check for any local advertisements or online presence they might have.
For local users in Elizabeth City, NC, considering Shun Xing Restaurant, the available reviews present a dilemma. The overwhelmingly positive feedback on the taste and quality of the food, particularly the combination orders, is a strong draw. The detailed descriptions of well-prepared dishes and generous portions suggest that Shun Xing can offer a satisfying meal. However, the report of finding a hair in the wonton soup is a serious concern that raises questions about hygiene practices in the kitchen.
Potential customers will need to weigh these contrasting experiences. If food quality and flavor are the top priority, the positive review is very encouraging. However, the hygiene issue reported by another customer cannot be ignored. It might be prudent to consider whether this was an isolated incident or a more systemic problem, although the limited number of reviews makes it difficult to determine the frequency of such issues.
To make a more informed decision, local residents might want to look for additional reviews on other online platforms to see if a broader consensus exists regarding the food quality and hygiene at Shun Xing Restaurant. Calling the restaurant directly to inquire about their food safety practices might also be something to consider for those particularly concerned about hygiene.
In conclusion, Shun Xing Restaurant in Elizabeth City, NC, has received high praise for the taste and quality of its combination orders and specific dishes like the broccoli beef and sweet and sour chicken, as well as the meat-filled rolls. However, a concerning report of finding hair in the wonton soup raises significant hygiene issues. Local users should consider these contrasting points when deciding whether to patronize Shun Xing Restaurant.

EVERYTHING was fantastic! Combination orders: Broccoli beef, they don't smother it with sauce, it's good but strong, it doesn't need that much because its great, not over cooked Broccoli or carrots and beef is sooooo tender. I'll order easy on the sauce next time. Comes with pork fried rice that is also fantastic not greasy and came with a role that is very large, look at the picture, alittle greasy but most are, it wasn't overy greasy. I loved it all. Husband had sweet n sour chicken, he got hot n sour soup n he said it's very good with a lot of veggies. Also came with roll again great, look at picture, it has soo much meat, not filled with veggies with specks of meat, it had MEAT!
I was excited to find a good local Chinese place. Upon opening my wonton soup, I found a hair. My husband is bald, and I have very long brown hair. It seems short and wavy, much like a dog hair mentioned in other reviews. :(
Used to be really good, but last two times it has been awful. Seems like they are reheating the food in the microwave, the General Tso chicken is absolute mush. Even worse, found a hair in my chicken and Im pretty sure it's dog hair.
Foods great the people working the register is always on there phone. One kid bent over and his butt was out the top of his pants.
Ordered several meals and side items and everything had hair in it. I don’t know if someone is shedding or if they have pets and the hair is falling off there clothes but it’s disguising. I did call and they offered to remake it but don’t think I will eat here again.
