I came here with no expectations. But the food reminded me what happiness felt like. True balance in ingredients. Texture, flavors, and the temperature were on point. If I ever find myself craving for some Chinese food, and if i’m not too far, I will come here.

I want to thank the gentleman at Shu , I went in picking up an order for a customer. The gentleman behind the counter handed me the order and asked me if I had eaten yet, I said no and he motioned me not to leave yet, he went in back and filled a plastic container with dumplings and some sauce and gave them to me. I thought that was a very nice gesture and want to acknowledge his kindness.

Expectation is important if you go to this location. Some of the items are authentic and amazing, like the spicy wonton and pork belly fried rice. Some of the items are more of an “express” option, let’s call it that. There’s basically no service. They don’t expect people to sit down and eat. But the price is very economical. I’d say this is a great option for take out lunch especially with their combos. I’ll come back for lunch if I’m in the area that but probably not for dinner.

I’m happy SHU came to Avon! Now we don’t have to go all the way to West Hartford. This is Szechuan Chinese food which is much different from the typical American Chinese food. It’s a little more expensive, but the quality is worth it and it’s so good. It has an authentic taste to it. I highly recommend the dan dan mei and chengdu dumplings - ours were cooked through. If you like a lot of sauce and spicy + savory food, you’ll like SHU!

We had the kung pao chicken bc we're basic but it was delicious. Just the right amount of peppercorns. The fried rice was flavorful and I personally loved the wontons. The broth they are served in is so flavorful but light. Highly recommend! Also the staff was so kind and gentle :)
