I used to visit Shree Restaurant many times and really liked their food, especially the variety of vegetarian options. The Soya Tandoori Tikka is amazing! However, I recently tried their buffet, and it was disappointing. They only had 3-4 different curries, rice, and one sweet dish, all of which were below average and cold. I was shocked to be charged $18 for that quality. I usually enjoy their other menu items, but the buffet is not for me. They are also starting to offer non-vegetarian options soon, so it will no longer be an all-veg restaurant. Overall, it’s a great place, but I think the prices should be lower for what they offer.

We visited this restaurant on a late Saturday afternoon when it was fairly busy, but we managed to get a table without any wait. We began our meal with tomato soup, which came with croutons and was reminiscent of the classic Indian tomato soup—creamy, rich, and bursting with flavor. Following the soup, we ordered aloo kachori as an appetizer, which turned out to be the highlight of our meal. The kachori was perfectly crunchy, and the accompanying aloo sabzi was cooked to perfection, offering a delightful burst of flavors. We also tried the crispy chili baby corn, which, while decent in taste, didn’t quite live up to its name in terms of crispiness. For the main course, we ordered chole chur chur naan, and we were thoroughly impressed by the naan’s texture and the delicious chole that paired perfectly with it. Additionally, we ordered paneer tikka masala, which was a rich and flavorful curry that brought back memories of the vibrant street food of North India. The aloo kulcha we tried was equally impressive, with its soft, flavorful filling. Despite the restaurant being understaffed with only one waiter and one server for all the tables, the service wasn’t overly slow, which was commendable. To round off our meal, we had a taste of the badam halwa, which was simply delightful. Overall, the restaurant offered good Indian food with some outstanding dishes and decent service. It’s definitely a must-try in the area!

My husband and I had dinner here and everything was amazing. We ordered paneer makhani, shahi paneer, dosa, and idly and all of it was very good. The service was great, and the owner and manager were wonderful people! Can’t wait to go back and try their new thaali special soon!

The restaurant is located in Westmont in a shopping center with other stores including a Indian groceries store and as such finding a parking space is not easy. The restaurant is small with some space set aside for bigger parties and the number of tables are limited. There's a wait to be seated and we reached there at peak time and waited a good 10 minutes. The waiters and the manager are preoccupied and we had to draw attention to an empty table to get seated. The menu is newly printed and has a lot of choices in different cuisine of India for those familiar with it. South Indian cuisine is limited to dosa varieties and other rice based dishes. The masala soda is good for those who like the traditional "jal jeera". There's no soda in the drink itself but a variety of Indian spices that aid in digestion and general health. The onion rava masala dosa looked good when it arrived with holes that I mentioned in my review of A2B's same item but soon turned into a nightmare. The chef must have forgotten about the dosa as it was desiccated/dehydrated beyond imagination to the extent the masala has become dry and the onion had caramelized. I was joking with my family that the dosa was hard and crisp enough to chop up vegetables. I could not even eat half of it. The sambar is good and a decent quantity but of the chutneys, only the tomato chutney is very good, the coconut one is ok but the third one of fried lentils is insipid, though the quantity is once again like the "tabbaruk" or prasad you get in your places of worship. At $12 it's certainly not worth it. A couple of ready-made Gits rava dosa mixes for half the price, from the next door Indian store would have been a better experience for my taste buds. Anyway the family enjoyed their items and it seems like my experience was the only sour one. Perhaps the illinois culinary world does not want to satiate my penchant for a taste of real onion rava dosa.
