Customer reviews for Shogun indicate a generally positive experience, with specific highlights in different areas of their menu. One customer mentioned that overall, their experience was "great." They did, however, provide some constructive feedback regarding the preparation of certain seafood items on the hibachi. They noted that the scallops were undercooked in the middle and suggested adding lemon during the hibachi cooking process for better results. Additionally, they felt that the lobster tail should have been grilled in butter rather than added at the end, which made it rubbery. Despite these points, they acknowledged that these might be less commonly ordered, more expensive items. Importantly, this reviewer strongly praised Shogun's sushi as a "hit every time" and mentioned that the salmon and steak were cooked perfectly. They also appreciated the overall experience.

Another customer who dined alone for lunch reported receiving "excellent service," indicating that Shogun provides attentive service even to solo diners.

As a Japanese restaurant, Shogun offers a variety of dishes, including hibachi-cooked meats and seafood, as well as a popular sushi selection. Customers can generally expect a positive dining experience with good service. While there may be some variability in the preparation of certain less frequently ordered hibachi items, the sushi and other main dishes like salmon and steak appear to be consistently well-received. If you are a local user in Houston looking for a Japanese restaurant with hibachi and sushi, Shogun is worth considering.

Honestly it was great.. my only complaint is the cook had never handled scallops before did not cook thoroughly ( even for scallops they were raw halfway through) maybe add lemon while hibachi it'll make a great deal of diffrence. And my lobster tail should have been grilled in butter not introduced at the end so it was rubbery ... but I'm sure nit many order the most expensive meats often.. I get it.. no worries took home fixed right up and was great..NOW THEIR SUSHI IS A HIT EVERYTIME .. WISH THEY PUT AN EXTRA DOLLOP OF WASABI ,BUT I LOVE WASABI .. WAS A GREAT TIME THOUGH.. THE SALMON AND STEAK WAS PERFECT..

OMG!!! For my birthday I wanted to experience the Hibachi chef at Shogun and it was so exciting, fun and also very entertaining. It's an experience that you cannot pass up going to the restaurant. Gabriel, our server, was so nice and did an outstanding job with taking care of us. My son and I both ordered the combo filet mignon, chicken and lobster, but substituted for shrimp, mixed vegetables with fried rice. The food was well seasoned, tasty, delicious and the filet mignon was cooked just right. We also had the chicken filled fried egg rolls, which also tasted really good. It was indeed alot of food for me, which was prepared in well proportions. I definitely look forward to this experience again exploring other menu options and I also will consider for to go orders as well. Thank you all for making my birthday even more memorable. 😊

Visiting from Florida, this is my 2nd time at this location. I ordered a veggie yakisoba with specific veggies. Shrimp and onion was added to my food and I am allergic to shellfish. Luckily I spotted it before I even tasted the food. I called the restaurant and informed them on the issue with my order, they offered a refund. I asked if it was possible to get the correct order instead of a refund and they agreed. The order was corrected, but there were way more veggies than noodles the second time around and the first time the noodles to veggies ratio was perfect. The overall taste of the food was okay. I'd likely visit again but moving forward I'll always check my food before leaving. (The first two photos and the video are from the first order, the rest are from the corrected order.)
