About Shinnston Peking

Shinnston Peking is a Chinese restaurant located at 412 Pike St, Shinnston, WV 26431, USA. They can be contacted at (304) 592-3858 or via their mobile number, +1 304-592-3858. Based on recent customer reviews, Shinnston Peking appears to have some appealing aspects, particularly its lunch buffet and certain menu items, but also significant issues concerning timing and, alarmingly, food safety.

One reviewer noted that the food at Shinnston Peking is "pretty good," indicating a satisfactory level of taste and quality in their dishes. They specifically praised the black pepper chicken and egg rolls, suggesting these are popular and well-received items on the menu. The lunch buffet is also highlighted as the restaurant's "biggest draw," indicating its popularity among local customers seeking an all-you-can-eat option during lunchtime.

However, a recurring complaint in the feedback pertains to the timing of the lunch buffet. Despite being advertised as running from 11:00 AM to 2:30 PM, customers have reported that it is consistently not ready on time. According to one reviewer, it typically takes until 11:30 AM for all the buffet items to be set out. Even then, the quantity of food available is often insufficient to serve the waiting line of people, suggesting potential issues with preparation speed or capacity during peak lunch hours. This lack of punctuality could be a significant inconvenience for customers with limited lunch breaks or those expecting the buffet to be fully operational at the advertised start time.

More seriously, a regular customer reported finding pieces of metal in their takeout orders on two separate occasions within a month. The first instance involved a piece of metal found in a piece of chicken before the customer could bite into it. The second incident involved the customer accidentally biting into a small metal shaving in a dinner takeout order. This is a significant food safety concern and understandably led the customer to express sadness and a decision to take a break from the restaurant, despite not disliking the staff or the food in general. The customer explicitly hoped that the owners would see this feedback and take measures to prevent such incidents in the future.

The presence of metal shavings in food is a serious issue that can pose a health risk to consumers. It suggests a potential problem in the kitchen environment or food preparation process that needs immediate attention and rectification to ensure the safety of the food served to customers. This issue overshadows any positive comments about the food quality or the appeal of the lunch buffet.

The provided reviews do not offer any information about the restaurant's environment or ambiance for dine-in customers. Similarly, there are no details regarding additional services such as delivery options or any special features or promotions that Shinnston Peking might offer, beyond the mention of the popular lunch buffet. Therefore, an objective introduction based solely on this information must focus on the reported food quality of certain items, the timing issues with the lunch buffet, and the significant food safety concerns raised by the discovery of metal in takeout orders.

For local users in Shinnston, WV, considering Shinnston Peking, it is important to be aware of these recent customer experiences. While the black pepper chicken and egg rolls are reportedly good, and the lunch buffet is popular, the consistent delays in the buffet's readiness and, more critically, the repeated findings of metal in takeout orders are serious concerns that should not be overlooked. Potential customers might want to exercise significant caution, especially when ordering takeout, and perhaps inquire about the steps the restaurant has taken to address the food safety issues raised.

In conclusion, Shinnston Peking in Shinnston, WV, is a Chinese restaurant known for its lunch buffet and certain dishes like black pepper chicken and egg rolls, which some customers find "pretty good." However, there are notable issues with the lunch buffet consistently not being ready on time, causing inconvenience for waiting customers. More alarmingly, a regular customer has reported finding metal shavings in their takeout orders on two separate occasions, indicating a potential food safety problem that requires immediate attention. While some aspects of the food may be appealing, these significant concerns regarding timing and food safety should be carefully considered by local users when deciding whether to patronize Shinnston Peking. It would be advisable for the restaurant to address these issues promptly and transparently to regain and maintain the trust of its customers.

The food is pretty good here, my only complaint is their timing. Their lunch buffet is their biggest draw, it is advertised as running from 11-2:30pm. It is never ready on time. Usually takes them until 11:30 to get all the items out, but even then it’s not enough to serve the waiting line of people that typically line the buffet table. Good black pepper chicken and egg rolls, just wish the timing was more accurate.

I am quite the regular here and while I don't dislike the staff or the food. I did find pieces of metal in my last take out order. I just don't know what to say, but I really hope the owners see this and will prevent such mishaps in the future. I think I will be taking a break from this restaurant for a bit. Here is one of the pieces of chicken I was about to bite into when I noticed a piece of metal. Edit after a month has passed. I decided to eat here and once again I found another metal shaving in my take out order. This time is was for dinner and I had accidentally bitten the small shaving. It makes me really sad because I used to love eating here.

The people that run this restaurant are so nice. I walked in there a few months ago and their lunch buffet was only 30 minutes from being over so the lady asked me pick out two things that you like and I will bring them out for you. She said, eat it all if you would like And buffet is so cheap but it’s excellent food Chinese food from here to Morgantown and farther. I highly recommend this quaint little place
