About Shangri-La Chinese restaurant

Welcome to Shangri-La Chinese Restaurant, a Chinese restaurant located at 5828 Bee Ridge Rd in Sarasota, Florida. Unlike many Chinese establishments that primarily focus on takeout, Shangri-La offers a dine-in option, providing a cute and friendly atmosphere for your dining pleasure.

According to one customer, Shangri-La serves absolutely delicious, fresh, and authentic Chinese cuisine. The owners are also noted for being friendly and engaging, often coming out to speak with diners, enhancing the overall experience. This reviewer highly recommends Shangri-La.

However, another customer had a significantly different experience with a recent takeout order. They spent $85 on beef lo mein with rice, short ribs with rice, egg rolls, and crab rangoons, and described the food as subpar, not meeting the expectation set by the price. This customer stated they would not return.

Shangri-La Chinese Restaurant offers both dine-in and takeout services. If you are looking for a Chinese restaurant that provides a dine-in setting with potentially authentic and fresh cuisine and friendly owners, Shangri-La might be worth a visit. However, it's important to note the contrasting feedback regarding the quality and value experienced by different customers. For inquiries or to place an order, you can contact Shangri-La at (941) 378-5585 or +1 941-378-5585.

What an amazing, cute, friendly Chinese restaurant that actually offers dining in versus usual take out. The food is absolutely delicious, fresh, authentic Chinese cousine. Owners come out and talk with you, friendly and fun! Highly recommend.

My husband ordered takeout yesterday evening. I got beef lo mein with rice and he got short ribs with rice. We also ordered egg rolls and crab ragoons on the side. $85! Literally $85. And for $85 you would expect five star cuisine, not the trash that he took home. I will never give this restaurant the opportunity to rob me again.

The walk in restaurant is nice. The food is abysmal. We did take out. An easy order. Hot and sour and wor wonton, mooshoo pork and fried potstickers. How is it possible that these 2 soups have spaghetti noodles in them. 50% each Each. Who put spaghetti in these soups? The moosho pork was so wattered down with no taste it was mush. This selected cuisine is awful. I don't get it.

We ordered the Peking duck off of the menu and it was $59.95, we did get a phone call later on telling us the price is really $85. OK that’s fine so we order it. As you can see not fresh at all and Publix is only 100 yards away to get fresh food. Instead you serve me old dried up onions disgusting just as my food was. I worked in a Chinese restaurant in my youth and I ate Peking duck virtually every day, and it was wonderful. this was the most disgusting duck I’ve ever eaten and I’ve eaten a lot of duck absolutely terrible what I recommend this restaurant to people? Only if you’re into abusing your self with terrible food and anybody who thinks that this food was good you should’ve had my dinner and let me try your dinner. With Peking duck it is all about crispy. Skin are used to cook this I learned from Chinese cooks from mainland China. As you can see in the photograph, the onions are dried out and you can see in the photograph the piles of garbage I set to the side that is not edible I absolutely would never recommend this to anybody. I will say this, though the staff was absolutely wonderful to talk with.

As a New Yorker who loves Chinese style food, this place is as good as china town. Family owned with great food and great service. Highly recommend for dine in or take out.
