The food here is very good—authentic flavors that really satisfy! However, the service needs improvement. After we were seated, we felt ignored for a while, which took away from our experience. The atmosphere is similar to many Chinese restaurants, but the restrooms could be cleaner.

Shanghainese spot good for big groups. Came here for lunch in a group of 6. We were there at 11am (the opening) and were able to get a table immediately. The food is authentic and my boyfriend, who had never tried Shanghainese food prior to this, really enjoyed it. The best dishes in my opinion were the Shanghainese shu mai (which comes with rice inside) as well as the xiao long bao. Free easy parking. Credit cards accepted. They do serve alcohol.

I just don’t get it. This place should have a rating close to 5.0/5.0. The dishes are so delicious and well prepared. This is the best restaurant during our 4 day trip in LA. Btw we stayed at Anaheim. And the restaurants rated 4.5/5.0 in Ervin are nowhere near the level of this one.

Some dishes are too sweet, some dishes are too oily, some dishes put too much soy sauce, personal taste is not the same, I am afraid that some people like it, some people do not like it, we were a big round table people, there are praise and criticism! Fair enough.

Growing up, a typical weekend always consisted of a large family friend gathering where the kids would awkwardly converse while the parents laughed and drank. The round table would be filled with a large variety of food to share and each spin brought you a different dish. Thinking back now, these memories were a huge part of my childhood and have shaped and influenced my love for food and the way it brings people together. Recently I went to this restaurant that I’ve gone to ever since I was a kid and was able to truly appreciate the beauty that is Shanghainese cuisine. This cuisine is on the sweeter side and has a good balance between sweet and sour flavors. Here are some classic dishes that Shanghai is known for: 1. Crispy Fish with Sweet & Sour Sauce Shrimp Stuffed Eggplant in Pot Fish Fillet with Seaweed Braised Pork in Brown Sauce上海滩红烧肉 5. Sauteed Lamb with Pancake Sweet Lotus with Osmanthus Eight Flavor Sweet Rice Cake 秘制八宝饭 @eatswithedith on instagram for more in depth reviews
