About Shanghai Restaurant

Shanghai Restaurant is a Chinese Restaurant located in Nampa, Idaho. Recent customer reviews present a concerning picture regarding the quality of the food served.

One customer who ordered a family dinner reported spending $40 but found the majority of the dishes to be inedible. They described the mandarin chicken as dry and tasting old, the fried rice as mushy with a strong chemical taste resembling expired eggs, and the pork as very dry. The egg rolls were noted to be soggy with a mushy interior, and the broccoli chicken shared the same chemical taste as the fried rice. The egg flower soup was the only item that was somewhat acceptable, but even that lacked significant flavor. This customer stated they would not return and suggested a health inspection due to the chemical taste in the food.

Another reviewer described the food as "hands down the worst Chinese food in the valley." They mentioned a watery Kung Pao sauce that made the dish soupy and nearly inedible, bland chow mein, and soggy General's chicken that tasted more like sweet and sour. This customer took only one bite of their meal due to the poor quality.

Despite the overwhelmingly negative feedback on the food, both reviewers commented positively on the service and the generous portion sizes. However, these aspects were overshadowed by the significant issues with the taste and quality of the dishes.

Based on these recent reviews, potential customers should be aware of the reported problems with food quality at Shanghai Restaurant in Nampa, ID, despite the acknowledged good service and portion sizes.

My boyfriend and I have ordered from here several times, and tonight is the LAST time we will. We spent $40 on a family dinner, and ate all of 5-6 bites between us, and had to find something else to eat. The mandarin chicken was dry, and some pieces were hard. The whole dish tasted like it was a few days old, frozen, and tossed back into a fryer. The fried rice was mushy, and had a very strong chemical taste. Almost like expired eggs. Honestly wouldn't be surprised if all the ingredients were expired. The pork from the pork and seeds was dry as hell, and almost inedible. The egg rolls were soggy, and the insides were pure mush. The broccoli chicken had the same chemical taste as the fried rice. The only thing that tasted remotely okay was the egg flower soup, and even that had barely any taste. We will NEVER be back, and the whole place should probably be inspected by a health inspector based off the chemical taste in the food. Do yourself a favor and go to meridian for better chinese food.

This is hands down the worst Chinese food in the valley and I don't say that lightly. The sauce was so watery that my kung pao was a soup I had to eat it with a spoon and the flavor was one knotch above inedible. My husband's chow mein was bland and the generals chicken was soggy and tasted more like sweet and sour. That being said the service was phenomenal and the portion sizes were great. I just wish I wanted to eat more then the one bite I took before instantly regretting my choice.

This was one of the worst Chinese food places I've ever had. Seriously just go to Panda instead I'm not even a fan of panda but it's much cheaper and taste much better than this place. First off the general chicken was bland and tasted more like sweet and sour than general chicken, the breading was beyond soggy and I found hair in it. The chow mein was also bland, the only flavor to it was very odd and tasted like snot or bad breath, it was really weird. The fried rice was still white, had a weird chemical smokey flavor to it and was just not good. The dude at the front was super cool and I don't want to shit on anybody but this food was beyond terrible.

Dissatisfied with food. Bbq pork ribs were extremely dry, swimming in canned sauce that could not save it. Rangoon were generic and wilted, filling was fine. Egg rolls were soft and floppy. My fried shrimp were edible though, again soft coating. This meal was nearly 50$'s. Rarely splurge like this so i was disappointed and angry. I'll never eat here again after tossing majority in trash.

We really enjoyed the food! It was our first experience and loved the flavor. It tastes like real food and not artificial like a lot of Chinese food at other places. We can’t wait until we can dine-in! Once they open the dine-in, this will be a five-star review❤️
