About Shanghai Inn Chinese Restaurant

While Shanghai Inn Chinese Restaurant is located at 14155 Northwest Fwy, Houston, TX 77040, USA, let's provide an overview for local users in Singapore interested in exploring Chinese cuisine. Based on positive customer reviews, Shanghai Inn appears to be a restaurant that offers flavorful food, generous portions, and good value, making it a potential place to consider if you were in the Houston area.

One customer, author Chauncey Taylor, specifically enjoyed the "Orange Chicken & Shrimp Fried Rice," describing it as "fresh, hot, and cooked well creating a delicious taste." They were so impressed that they declared they would make "Shanghai Inn" their top pick for Chinese food, also noting the "Great" service and atmosphere. This strong recommendation suggests a positive overall dining experience.

Another reviewer highlighted the restaurant's "outstanding flavor" and "hearty servings" across appetizers, entrees, and sides. A notable feature is their offering of "real egg rolls," distinguishing them from spring rolls. They opted for the family dinners priced at $16.99 per person, which includes an individual entree, soup, dessert, and a selection of appetizers: four crab puffs, two ribs, and two egg rolls. This family dinner option seems to provide a substantial amount of food at a reasonable price, as the reviewer mentioned a significant spread for two people, with their bill remaining under $50 even after their son joined them. This indicates good value for money and generous portion sizes.

Although the reviews don't provide extensive details about the restaurant's decor or specific ambiance beyond it being "Great," the emphasis on delicious, fresh food, hearty portions, real egg rolls, and affordable family meal options, coupled with positive service feedback, paints a picture of a Chinese restaurant that prioritizes customer satisfaction through quality and value. For users in Singapore looking for similar qualities in a Chinese restaurant, Shanghai Inn's reputation suggests focusing on establishments that offer flavorful dishes, generous servings, traditional favorites like real egg rolls, and potentially family-style or value-oriented meal options, along with attentive service and a pleasant atmosphere.

They are an outstanding flavor all their own. Hearty servings in appetizers, entrees, and sides. They serve real egg rolls, none of those blah spring rolls. We opted for the family dinners for $16.99. each person gets their own entree, soup, dessert, and appetizers (4 crab puffs, 2 ribs, 2 egg rolls). I remembered too late about a picture, but you can see it's quite the spread for 2 people. My son joined us later and our bill was under $50.

Man, worst experience I have ever had at a Chinese restaurant. I’ve had some bad Chinese food in the past, but this one was the absolute worst. I ordered the Orange Chicken lunch menu version. The soup came out and was ok. When the main meal came the egg roll was hot but mushy at the same time. But when I tasted the chicken it was cool not just the chicken but the sauce as well. I asked the waiter quietly So I would not let Anyone around me hear and affect their judgement to bring me some chicken that was hot. He rolled his eyes and said that next time I need to order my order spicy. I said sir that’s not what I mean. I just want some hot food. Can you bring some. He said on the side and I said yes. He then brought over the chili paste. I said not what I meant he walked away and I thought he ordered more chicken hot to bring. I didn’t care about how spicy just temperature hot. I waited and I picked a little on the rice making sure I saved room for the meal when it comes back. I picked a little more. Then he brought the check. I said I now have to pay for a meal that I took one bite of, an egg roll and soup not to mention 3 bites of rice. I did raise my voice a little but only because he kept telling me I have to order that way. I said how to be hot food you served me cold food. Anyway it was bad. I paid my 9.99 plus tax and even left a tip. But I will never be back and I will tell as many people I can to stay away from this place!!!!!

Oh ok it compells me from the ratings I see! First I’m from the area and grew up around here their egg rolls are the very best hands down! They’ve been opened for than 30 years! I’ve never had a time where anyone treated me wrong they were always polite and nice! I never had issues with thier food. It was always cooked right. People here are so picky to find something wrong. It’s sad but true! When the one comment I read if I give it less than one star I would. Compared any Chinese restaurant out there especially Houston to me it’s worth the drive from Cypress to eat their food I usually get the egg rolls chicken fried rice that not greasy compared to others. And their chicken chow mein. Take it from someone who’s grew up coming here compared to someone who’s passing through. Besides on the river, Swamp shake, or Djs barbecue they been around for decades! And they are going anywhere. To my best Chinese place ever Shanghai’s will always be my favorite place . Egg rolls! Number 1! And for the haters! You guys don’t know what good traditional Chinese food is!
