About Shanghai and Tokyo

Shanghai and Tokyo is a restaurant located at 3088 NE 41st Terrace in Homestead, Florida, categorized as a Chinese Restaurant. This establishment appears to offer a variety of Chinese dishes for takeout, catering to the local community in Homestead. The name "Shanghai and Tokyo" suggests a potential fusion or combination of Chinese and Japanese culinary influences, although the available customer reviews primarily focus on the Chinese aspect of their offerings.

Based on the limited customer feedback, it is challenging to ascertain the full scope of the menu at Shanghai and Tokyo. However, the reviews do mention specific Chinese dishes such as Sweet & sour chicken, shrimp fried rice, and chicken lo-mein. This indicates that they likely serve a range of popular American-Chinese takeout staples. The first reviewer mentioned picking up an already paid meal, implying that they offer online ordering or prepayment options. The second reviewer noted that the online menu prices were lower than what they were charged, suggesting a discrepancy between the online and in-store pricing, with an additional $3 per dish. This is an important point for potential customers to be aware of when considering ordering from Shanghai and Tokyo.

The customer reviews available paint a concerning picture regarding both the customer service and the food quality at Shanghai and Tokyo. One reviewer recounted a negative experience when picking up a pre-paid meal. They reported a significant wait due to the front desk staff being engaged in a lengthy personal conversation, seemingly aware of the customer waiting for their order. When the meal was finally handed over, the customer noticed it had been sitting out. Upon complaining, the staff member took the food back and initially refused to give it to them, which the reviewer perceived as disrespectful. While another coworker eventually intervened and handed the food back, the initial interaction left a strong negative impression of "disrespectful people and bad customer service." This incident raises serious concerns about the professionalism and attentiveness of the front desk staff.

The second review provided a scathing critique of the food quality. The reviewer expressed regret for not having read reviews prior to ordering. They found the Sweet & sour chicken to be hard and, more alarmingly, reported that the oil used tasted old and left an "unbearable" aftertaste, making it inedible after only a couple of pieces. The shrimp fried rice and chicken lo-mein were described as excessively greasy, tasting "funny," and likened to "eating straight grease." The reviewer was so disgusted by the oily nature of the food that they felt the need to shower. Their overall assessment was extremely negative, stating they wouldn't eat from the restaurant again even if it were free and strongly warning others against ordering from Shanghai and Tokyo. This feedback points to significant issues with the freshness of ingredients, the quality of cooking oil, and the overall preparation of their Chinese dishes.

Given the nature of the provided reviews, there is no information available regarding the environment or ambiance of Shanghai and Tokyo. Since both reviews pertain to takeout experiences, there are no descriptions of the dining area, decor, cleanliness, or overall atmosphere of the restaurant. It remains unknown whether Shanghai and Tokyo primarily focuses on takeout or also offers a dine-in option. Local users interested in dining at the establishment would need to either visit in person or seek out additional information from other sources, if available.

The services offered by Shanghai and Tokyo, based on the reviews, include takeout. The first review suggests the possibility of online prepayment or ordering ahead. The second review mentions an online menu, although with pricing discrepancies. The negative experience with customer service during a pickup indicates that while they provide this service, the execution may be lacking. There is no mention of delivery services in the provided feedback, so it is unclear whether this is an option offered by Shanghai and Tokyo. Potential customers would need to contact the restaurant directly to inquire about their full range of services.

Based on the severely negative feedback concerning food quality and customer service, it is difficult to identify any positive features of Shanghai and Tokyo from these reviews. The discrepancy in online versus in-store pricing, with an unexpected $3 surcharge per dish, is a notable point that could deter customers. The reported use of old-tasting oil and the excessively greasy nature of multiple dishes are significant drawbacks. The disrespectful customer service experienced by one reviewer is also a major concern. The only potential positive might be the availability of a variety of standard American-Chinese dishes, but the reported quality issues overshadow this.

No promotional information is mentioned in the provided customer reviews. It is unknown whether Shanghai and Tokyo offers any specials, discounts, or promotions to attract customers. Local users interested in such information would need to check local advertising, online platforms if the restaurant has a presence, or contact them directly via phone at (305) 242-5155 or +1 305-242-5155.

In conclusion, the available customer reviews for Shanghai and Tokyo in Homestead, FL, present a negative picture of both their customer service and the quality of their Chinese food. Issues such as disrespectful behavior from staff and poorly prepared, excessively oily dishes made with what appeared to be old oil are significant concerns. The discrepancy in online versus in-store pricing is also a factor that could negatively impact customer satisfaction. Potential customers are strongly advised to consider these recent experiences before choosing to order from or visit Shanghai and Tokyo. Further investigation or more positive reviews from other sources would be needed to offer a more balanced perspective on this establishment.

I normally don’t give bad reviews because anybody could have a bad day, but I don’t allow nobody disrespect me. I stopped by to pick up an already paid meal and I was waiting longer than supposed to. The crew in the front desk. were having a long conversation and they know I was waiting for my food. when suddenly my meal was already seating on the side so when the lady handed it to me, I made a complaint about it so she picked up the food back from me and told me do not take the food. The other coworker handed food back to me and I left . Very disrespectful people and bad customer service. .

Man I wish I read the reviews before ordering. To start you can add $3 per dish from the menu online which I would have been fine with but the food was the worst Chinese I’ve ever had. Appearance wise, I was somewhat fooled at first because it looked ok but the ‘Sweet & sour chicken’ was hard but by far the worst part of it was the oil tasted so old it is literally unbearable after a piece or two. It’s indescribable the after taste the food gives off. The shrimp fried rice and chicken lo-mein were so greasy it was almost like eating straight grease which those dishes tasted funny too. After eating some and still hungry, I wouldn’t feed it to a dog. I feel so disgustingly oily that I need a shower. I wouldn’t eat from here again if it were free, lesson learned. If you’re stupid enough to order from here, consider yourself warned!

Welp I should’ve learned my lesson from the reviews , I placed an uber order, AS SOON AS I PLACE IT I call and simply tell them to “take off the vegetables and eggs” and they’re telling me to call uber and bla bla and then he says my order is ready… so you’re telling me in the matter of 3-5 minutes you cooked2 orders of eggs, shrimp, vegetables and noodles. And if it takes that long to make that then it shouldn’t have been a problem to make another one with my SIMPLE request, which was no vegetables and eggs (no it didn’t give me the option on uber)

I’ve purchased multiple times and have always been very pleased so when I placed my order and found pork in it I assumed when I called that they would apologize. I called and was told to drive back and they would make me a new one when I explained I don’t eat meat and biting into a piece of pork made me sick so could they just credit my account so at least my kids could order because I didn’t want the same mistake happening again I was laughed at and when I said it wasn’t funny she hung up on me. I called back and she said she didn’t care if I wasn’t okay with it and hung up again. I doesn’t almost $100 on food for my family and only asked to be refunded or given credit for my meal.

If I could give it zero stars I would. Their websites shows they close at 11 PM on Sundays. The lady in the front started screaming at me that they close at 10:30 (even if they did it is not acceptable to speak to your customers like this). "Hurry up, what do you want don't ask no questions, didn't you look at the menu". This lady was rude and disrespectful for no reason at all. Even after I showed her the site she continued to be rude. After reading going online and reading the reviews. I see she has a problem this was not an isolated incident. The food was decent, I will give them that. I will never return to a place that does not value it's customers.
