As a Chinese Restaurant, Shang Hai offers a variety of Chinese dishes to the local community. However, recent customer reviews indicate significant concerns regarding the food quality and service.

One customer expressed extreme disappointment with the General Tso’s chicken, describing it as mostly breading and sauce with virtually no chicken inside. They strongly advised other potential customers to inspect the dish before purchasing and stated they would never return.

Another customer reported that the staff was not very friendly. While they found the shrimp egg rolls and honey chicken to be decent, they were highly dissatisfied with the pork fried rice, which they described as yellow rice tasting like chicken soup and ultimately inedible. This customer also indicated that they would most likely not return to the restaurant.

Based on these recent reviews, it appears that Shang Hai Chinese Restaurant has received negative feedback regarding the quality of certain dishes and the friendliness of the service. Local users are advised to take these experiences into consideration when deciding whether to dine at this establishment.

General Tso’s chicken is nothing but disgusting breading and sauce. What a huge disappointment. No chicken to be found inside. Have them cut a piece in half before you buy. Have them point out where the chicken is. I’ll never go back.

They're not very friendly to begin with. The shrimp egg rolls and honey chicken were decent. The pork fried rice was yellow rice that tasted like chicken soup. It wasn't good. Had to throw it out. I most likely won't be going back.

The egg rolls were good, and the young man who brought my order was extremely friendly. But that's where the good stops. I'm being completely subjective when I say this is possibly the worst Chinese food I've ever had. The fried rice is plain yellow rice with veggies. Not only did it have nothing that tasted remotely like Asian seasoning, but was nearly bland, at that. Same with the Lo Mein. No tones of sesame or anything you might normally find in Chinese fare. Just plain noodles and meat, with barely any flavor. This restaurant is a poor attempt at Chinese takeout in my opinion, and I do not recommend it.

Horrible Customer Service – Avoid at All Costs I rarely leave reviews, but the way Shang Hai in Wesley Chapel handled my order was beyond unacceptable. This is not about the food—it’s about the complete lack of customer service and accountability. I placed a $70 order via Uber Eats, including multiple platters, spring rolls, and soups. When the Uber Eats driver dropped off my food, she only left the bag with soups—none of our main meals. I tried calling her multiple times, but she refused to answer. Shortly after, Shang Hai called me back and admitted they made a mistake—they only handed one bag (the soups) to the driver, while the rest of my order was still at the restaurant. They assured me they could either have it sent over within 20-30 minutes or I could pick it up. Since this order was for my parents and my father is handicapped, I politely explained that we couldn’t pick it up and asked them to send it as soon as possible. 45 minutes later, I called back to check the status, and they casually told me they had no way of sending the food and it could ONLY be picked up. No explanation. No update. They had no intention of informing me. I reminded them of my situation and asked to speak with the owner or manager. He refused to talk to me. Instead, they told me my only option was to take it up with Uber Eats. Let’s be clear: Shang Hai admitted the mistake. A responsible business would have done the right thing—especially since I live just four miles away. If I were the owner, I would have sent an employee to fix the issue. Instead, they wasted my time and dismissed my concerns with zero effort to make it right. If you want good customer service, do not order from this place. Mistakes happen, but how you handle them matters. Shang Hai failed miserably.

This place was good but the food isn’t the same, the portions and now they charge extra for everything. I will not come back. These picture are the large size, we also ordered sesame chicken, spring rolls, 2 spicy lo mein (they didn’t add the spice), one regular lo mein and crab ragoon. Before, this would be food for a family of 5 and 2 meals. Now one meal.
