We went here for dinner. It was very busy, so we sat at the bar. The layout is a typical NYC street restaurant. The food was awesome, as well as the services. We truly enjoyed our dining experience there. The waiters and waitresses seem all in their 20s, very enthusiastic on what they do and very friendly, always with a smile! The dishes are more on the Sichuan style but they all spoke Cantonese and Mandarin. They are a creative set of drinks, a bit pricy but perhaps normal in NYC. We ordered a shrimp dish and the waiter considerately asked us if we prefer to peel the shrimp shells off before cook them. We really appreciate it. The spicy chicken was also really good. Highly recommended!
Shan was a very cute and quaint restaurant. The moment we walked into the restaurant, we were greeted with a mouthwatering fragrance of Chinese food. The staff were very nice and welcoming! The level of service here was top-notch, we didn’t even have to ask the staff to refill our water - the moment our water was running low, the staff came and replaced the water jug! The soup dumplings were soo good! The dumpling wrappers were handmade and thin, showcasing the expertise of their chefs in the back. The soup and the filling were so flavorful that I did not need much vinegar at all! The spicy cumin lamb was quite spicy - a little too spicy for my tastebuds, but it smelled incredible! If you have a low spice tolerance, I would avoid this dish or ask for less spice. The stringbeans were so delicious! We demolished the plate of stringbeans. It was so flavorful and full of umami! The taste was so addicting and we couldn’t help ourselves from eating more and more! The beef noodle soup was really tender and warms you right up, with just the right amount of spice. The desserts were so delicious as well! I personally loved the ice lychee jelly! It was not too sweet and the foam on top reminded me of a very light icecream! The rice cakes were yummy as well - but they tend to stick to your teeth, so just a word of caution there! Overall, the experience here was great! It would be a cute spot to bring someone on a date!
We visited Shan when we were in the neighborhood and appealed by its great reviews. The decor was brilliant and elegant with cozy ambiance and wide-spaced seating so it’s perfect for families dining with little ones. Their service is friendly and welcoming. It’s really delicious and authentic with delicate flavors and plating. My daughter was so into their sweet & sour ribs and almost had them all by herself. Our favorite was the lobster which was chewy with appetizing sauce. My roommate also loved their Kung Pao Black Pepper Waygu, it’s soft and flavorful.
Shan by Barclays Center offers authentic Szechuan cuisine in a contemporary style and setting. Inside this beautifully decorated restaurant has some delicious food and amazing crafted cocktails. Kevin’s impeccable service truly made it a fantastic experience. He recommended a couple cocktails including a seasonal Mango Whisper which tastes like mango ice cream with a kick. Mix up the sweet and spicy udon while enjoy a perfectly made chicken with Szechuan pepper sauce. Pick a soup and entrees then you almost have a perfect meal. What’s missing? Complete your meal with some modern and traditional desserts! Now that’s a perfect meal. Log onto OpenTable and make a reservation now!
I love this place! The service is always on point, and the food is excellent. I ordered the lunch special: Beef with Peppers and Brown Rice. It came with sweet&sour soup and pickled vegetables. My favorite app is the pork Dumplings in Chili Oil!!!
