About Sg Xiao May Restaurant

Sg Xiao May Restaurant, located at 1602 S Gladys Ave in San Gabriel, CA 91776, USA, presents a unique option within the Chinese Restaurant category by offering Chinese fast food with a notable dine-in perk. This establishment caters to those seeking reasonably priced meals with the added benefit of unlimited rice, rice porridge, and soup for dine-in customers. While no phone number is provided in the available information, the restaurant’s location on Eastbound Valley Blvd makes it relatively easy to spot.

One of the key features of Sg Xiao May Restaurant is its pricing, which has been described by customers as very reasonable, contributing to its popularity and often crowded dining area, especially around lunchtime. The restaurant operates on a cash-only basis, a detail that customers should be aware of prior to their visit, as there were no visible signs indicating accepted forms of payment according to one review. This cash-only policy likely contributes to their ability to maintain low prices.

The dine-in experience at Sg Xiao May Restaurant is enhanced by the offer of unlimited rice, rice porridge, and soup for a $2.50 charge per person. This is a significant draw for many customers, as highlighted by the full parking lot and mostly occupied seats during peak hours like lunchtime. However, one customer noted that for individuals who do not consume large quantities of these items, the mandatory charge might not be ideal and suggested it be an optional add-on during payment.

Inside the restaurant, customers have generally found the environment to be clean, which contributes positively to the overall dining experience. The service has been described as good by at least one visitor. However, there was a suggestion for improvement regarding the cleanliness of the exterior, specifically mentioning a full and overflowing trash can outside. Additionally, another customer recommended keeping the doors closed to better regulate the indoor temperature, suggesting that the flow of hot air from outside could be an issue.

The food at Sg Xiao May Restaurant is characterized as "normal" and "fine" by reviewers, indicating that while it may not be exceptionally outstanding, it is generally acceptable and satisfies basic hunger. The focus seems to be more on providing affordable and convenient meals with the added value of the unlimited rice, porridge, and soup for dine-in customers. The restaurant also features a shaved ice bar, which appears to be another offering for customers to enjoy.

For customers who prefer to take their food to go, Sg Xiao May Restaurant demonstrates a positive environmental consciousness by using eco-friendly containers for their soup. This small detail has been appreciated by at least one reviewer, suggesting a forward-thinking approach to their packaging.

In summary, Sg Xiao May Restaurant offers a budget-friendly option for Chinese fast food in San Gabriel, with a particularly attractive dine-in deal that includes unlimited rice, rice porridge, and soup for a $2.50 charge. The interior of the restaurant is generally clean, and the service is reported as good. However, potential customers should be aware that the restaurant operates on a cash-only basis and that the unlimited refills come with a mandatory charge for dine-in. While the food is considered average, the overall value proposition, especially for those who can take advantage of the unlimited offerings, makes Sg Xiao May Restaurant a popular choice. There are minor areas for improvement, such as the cleanliness of the outside area and maintaining a consistent indoor temperature. Nevertheless, for those seeking an affordable and convenient Chinese fast food experience with generous refill options, Sg Xiao May Restaurant is worth considering, especially if you are traveling Eastbound on Valley Blvd.

Food is normal, for one plate can't same items. I'm notice there's $2.50 charge for dine in, for rice, porridge, and soup unlimited. We didn't eat that much. Hope its an option to add or not when pay.

Very interesting place—serves Chinese fast food with attractive dine in option. Very reasonable pricing. Cash only (no signs for form of payments but figured with the low price). It's very easy to spot on East bound Valley Blvd., But probably not other directions. Would recommend to friends & come back. Heard about this place for a while and finally visited today. Service is good. Inside the restaurant looks clean but the trash can outside is full and overflowing. I arrived at around 1:30 pm and most seats are taken. Parking lot was full and after my visit I see why >> They offer unlimited rice, rice porridge, and soup for dine in! The shaved ice bar looks fine. Food is fine. I also like they use environmental friendly container for soup to-go. Would give 5 stars if the outside is also clean & keep the doors closed all the time to keep out the hot air.

The food is fresh (made daily), and the selection is better than other similar restaurants, with more variety of fish and chicken dishes. The portion is decent and the prices are very affordable. It's better than Panda Express, more authentic. Check it out. They allow dine-in at this time.

The service here is friendly. The amount of food is enough for 2 meals, so I just have to buy one more rice. Parking spots are not plenty, but I don't always have parking problem.

By far the best shau mei around SGV in my opinion. LARGE portions, the 4th item is in a separate bowl, the other XM's just stack it in one box. Flavor is delicious if you like heavy flavors. I see pansies here complaining about 'grease', the only fast Chinese food place I know that's not too greasy is Panda Express. Those pansy low reviews can just go there instead. SG Xiao Mei is going to be my #1 around SGV for now. Hard to beat.
