Customer Reviews
I got the monkey fries from here that were mad flavorful. Made with ground beef, and cheese with this mayo-based sauce over seasoned fries. 8.8. I also got this decent duck gumbo too. The broth lacked flavor kinda bland but wasn't terrible thou. 7.9. Overall I like the setup and this place has some interesting items on the menu worth checking out. 8.5.
I was so satisfied with this place, I HAD to run it back the next day. Day 1 I had Bacos. The pork one was nothing special. The shrimp was probably my fav. I enjoyed the corn salsa that came on it. The duck baco was delicious as well. I could probably eat these everyday. Day 2- I ordered the duck and shrimp bacos. 🤷🏾♀️ Anyway, I wanted to try something different so I ordered the gumbo with duck and added shrimp for an extra charge. Now the gumbo was tasty, however, I would not call it a gumbo because it did not have okra. The word “gumbo” literally means okra. Also, it was a little too thin for me. I know I’m nitpicking, but it is what it is. Would I ordered again? Yes, and that’s all that matters.
Love their food. Typically order online but I've dined in as well and enjoyed myself. Delivery is pretty quick (quicker than some fast food options even).my favorites are their picadillo/chorizo egg rolls and the DUCK GUMBO (w added chicken and/or shrimp). One of few places I can get a hibiscus juice (as a fan of bissap or sorrel) . Also good: their bacos, monkey fries, THE DIPPING SAUCES, and a host of other items It's actually wild how often I eat here/order delivery from here.
Food 3/5: everything was prepared well. I only question the recipes, not for their fusion, but lack thereof. This is still worth revisiting for Five Spice Duck, which has yet to be tried. - Duck Gumbo: The weakest seasoned of my order, this was more broth than not. Make it like pho and add sides of lime wedges, chiles, jalapenos and/or serrano peppers. - Chorizo Egg Roll: They look like Chili's Southwestern Eggroll but thankfully carry more texture. However, as starchy as they may be, Chili's has more flavor. - Funky Monkey Fries: Best flavor of the three dishes tried. They remind one of Chili's starchy Southwestern Eggrolls. Service 5/5: nicest people one could find. Very attentive as well. Atmosphere 4/5: clean although those floors were sticky, perhaps on purpose so that no one slipped? Next: the disposal area. Like a barbecue eatery, there's a trash receptacle with a sign to leave plates and such on top of same. What about a separate container for utensils, like those barbecue places have? That might make things easier for the workers. Last: I wasn't offered a way to tip electronically. Some, such as myself, may want to, but don't carry cash. Please let customers tip the workers electronically.
I really liked the menu variety as it relates to both flavor & price. I was greeted when I walked in. I received clear menu explanations & suggestions. My food came out quickly & I was offered a complementary water cup. I ordered the curry sweet potato fries, picadillo egg rolls, guajillo shrimp, & five spice duck. I’d order every thing again besides the fries. They were as described but I personally just wasn’t a fan. Overall great experience though!
