Located at 15920 NE 8th St suite 2, Bellevue, WA 98008, USA, Sanyoung Surf & Turf BBQ, known natively as 三羊开炭, offers a distinct and vibrant addition to the Chinese Restaurant category in the Bellevue area. With phone numbers (425) 625-0776 and +1 425-625-0776 readily available, this establishment specializes in a popular style of Chinese cuisine that centers around grilled skewers and a variety of hot dishes, blending the comforting flavors of Chinese barbecue with diverse culinary offerings.

The name "Surf & Turf BBQ" perfectly encapsulates the restaurant's culinary philosophy, suggesting a diverse menu that goes beyond traditional land-based meats to potentially include seafood options, all prepared with a barbecue focus. This emphasis on skewers, a staple of Northeastern Chinese barbecue, is a defining feature. Diners can expect a wide array of choices, from various cuts of meat like grilled ribeye to more unique options such as chicken skin. Customer reviews frequently highlight the skewers as being "really flavorful and full of spices," indicating a robust and authentic seasoning profile. While some skewers, like the grilled ribeye and chicken skin, are noted as "a bit spicy," this spice is often appreciated by patrons who "love the spice and flavor." For those who enjoy a bit of heat, this restaurant appears to deliver. Beyond skewers, Sanyoung Surf & Turf BBQ also offers "plenty of other Chinese dish options," implying a comprehensive menu that caters to a variety of tastes, including classic stir-fries, rice dishes, or other regional specialties. The provision of a "hot plate for each table to keep the skewers warm" and a "bucket to place the skewer sticks" demonstrates a thoughtful attention to the dining experience, ensuring that the food remains enjoyable throughout the meal. While a slight saltiness has been noted in some dishes, the overall consensus points to a satisfying and flavorful culinary journey.

The environment at Sanyoung Surf & Turf BBQ is consistently described as "very clean" and "well-decorated," contributing significantly to a pleasant dining atmosphere. The restaurant benefits from "plenty of natural lighting," which enhances the inviting feel, and features "eye pleasing wall decorations," suggesting a modern and aesthetically considered interior design. Despite the casual nature of a BBQ restaurant, the attention to cleanliness and decor elevates the dining experience beyond a typical casual eatery. A unique feature highlighted by customers is the presence of a "cute little private room," offering a more intimate setting for groups or special occasions, adding a layer of versatility to the dining space. This blend of general spaciousness and intimate options allows the restaurant to accommodate various dining preferences and group sizes, making it suitable for both casual meals and small gatherings.

Service at Sanyoung Surf & Turf BBQ is highly efficient and customer-focused, as indicated by feedback describing it as "fast and friendly." A key modern convenience offered is the digital ordering system, where patrons can "order by scanning a QR code from your table and food will arrive once you place your order from your phone." This streamlined process contributes significantly to the "fast" service, minimizing wait times and allowing diners to control their ordering pace. While some customers noted that food "took quite a while to arrive" after ordering, this might be reflective of peak hours or the preparation time for certain dishes, rather than a general slowness in service. The fact that the wait to be seated "wasn't long" for those with reservations further emphasizes the restaurant's commitment to efficient table management. The friendly demeanor of the staff complements the quick service, creating a welcoming and hassle-free dining experience for patrons.

Beyond the primary offerings, Sanyoung Surf & Turf BBQ boasts several noteworthy features. The digital menu system is a significant modern convenience, enhancing the ordering process and potentially allowing for more detailed dish information or customization options. The "hot plate for each table" to keep skewers warm is a practical and appreciated addition, ensuring that every bite remains enjoyable. The availability of "plenty of skewer and Chinese hot dish options" provides a broad appeal, catering to diverse tastes within Chinese cuisine. While the menu might not have "much in the way of veggies," the focus on flavorful meat and seafood skewers is clear. The restaurant also benefits from "plenty of parking space around the restaurant," a crucial convenience in a busy area like Bellevue, making it easily accessible for diners. The private room option further adds to its versatility, allowing for different dining experiences from casual meals to more secluded gatherings.

Reasonably priced, very clean. You can order via a digital menu. Wait wasn't long to be seated (though we made reservations). There's a cute little private room you can sit in as well. Food took quite a while to arrive and was pretty salty but was still okay. Menu doesn't have much in the way of veggies. We received gizzards instead of chicken heart for one of our orders.

Restaurant is clean and well-decorated. Plenty of natural lighting and eye pleasing wall decorations. Fast and friendly service. You can order by scanning a QR code from your table and food will arrive once you place your order from your phone. Plenty of skewer and Chinese hot dish options. Their skewers are really flavorful and full of spices. Most of the ones we ordered, such as grilled ribeye and chicken skin are a bit spicy but I love the spice and flavor. They have a hot plate for each table to keep the skewers warm and bucket to place the skewer sticks. They have plenty of other Chinese dish and would love to come back the try them. Plenty of parking space around the restaurant.

Amazing skewers at a higher cost - Food: 5 stars Service: 3 stars Price: 3 stars Ambiance: 3 stars Overall: 3.5 stars I hesitated to try this place because I've seen the menu and I thought it was quite pricy in my standard. However, it was the only place that opened late when we needed to eat out with our friends, so we tried it out. It was Saturday night around 8pm, but they were quite packed (around 70%). We got our seats right away and they gave us the small tea cups for the water (water bottle was already on the table). We ordered a bunch of stuff since we had a special coupon from Asian Family Market for their Lunar New Year celebration. Here are the list of things that we ordered: - Grilled beef tongue 烤牛舌 $2.99/skewer - Grilled Beef ribeye skewer 烤肋眼牛肉串 $3.49/skewer - Grilled lamb skewer 烤羊肉串 $1.99/skewer - Grilled pork belly 烤五花肉串 $1.99/skewer - Grilled chicken gizzards 烤雞胗 $2.49/skewer - Grilled sausage 烤火腿腸 $2.99/skewer - Grilled scallop 烤帶子(扇貝) $2.99/skewer - Grilled cauliflower 烤花菜 $1.99/skewer - Grilled mushrooms 烤蘑菇 $1.66/skewer - Grilled garlic eggplant 烤蒜泥茄子 $8.99 - Baked clams with vermicelli in tin foil 錫紙花甲粉 $14.99. All of the food was delicious, but the beef tongue was especially good. The beef ribeye was a bit dry for me, so I'd recommend getting the lamb instead (both original and marinated were good). The last two dishes were bigger, but they were delicious as well. The baked clams were a bit spicy with tons of chili peppers. We didn't order any starch, and we were probably about 80% full when we left. I'd recommend ordering the grilled bread so you can be more full. The downside of this place is that they speak mostly Chinese and they were reluctant to tell us what the skewers are until I asked them. I'm not sure how it'd be for people who don't speak chinese, but I do see a group of non-Chinese speakers dining there. I'd come back here again for other social events in the future!

This looks like a new restaurant. The service is friendly, and the meats are well seasoned and marinated. The interior gives a nice weekend vibe where you just want to wind down with your friends on a Friday night. Not sure if it’s part of its new opening promotion, but the server offered a lucky draw where we got a free order of crayfish (photo attached) - nice! Overall, I’ll give it a “好吃”(delicious)!

Pros: Charming, bright and clean interior. Seated fast; came early on Saturday for dinner, 5:30 pm already almost packed. Skewers came out fast and flavorful. Cons: Most of the skewers were lukewarm and some were too salty. Lotus root severely undercooked. Food came out slowly because understaffed (one chef). Clams dish was meh; mostly empty shells.
