About Sampan Inn

Sampan Inn, located at 8 Brookline Blvd, Havertown, PA 19083, offers Asian cuisine for takeout and delivery. You can contact them at (610) 446-3000 or +1 610-446-3000.

Based on customer reviews, Sampan Inn has received mixed feedback regarding its service. While the food is generally considered good, particularly the Singapore noodles, the service quality is inconsistent and often reported as rude.

One customer who dined in reported that the staff member was impatient and gave annoyed looks when splitting the bill. This negative experience discouraged them from dining in again, though they would consider takeout due to the food's quality.

Another customer who ordered takeout sushi experienced issues with their order. Specifically, an avocado and cucumber roll was contaminated with orange seasoning, which their daughter disliked. The customer criticized the restaurant for not separating the rolls and for the rude response they received when they called to address the issue.

These reviews suggest that while the food at Sampan Inn may be satisfactory, the service can be unreliable and, at times, rude. Customers have expressed dissatisfaction with both dine-in and takeout experiences, leading to declarations of never returning.

Therefore, potential customers should be aware of the reported service issues before ordering from Sampan Inn.

I went there with two of my friends for lunch, and the place wasn't very busy. The food and service time was pretty good, and I really enjoyed the Singapore noodles and everything was a decent price. Unfortunately the staff member who served us gave annoyed looks and was impatient when we were splitting the bill. I would take out again, because the food is good, but I don't think I would dine in.

We ordered take out sushi. My daughter doesn't like the orange spice. She got the avacado and cucumber roll. They put all of our rolls together. Hers ended up having the orange seasoning on it which she couldn't eat. Why not separate them. My husband called them and they were so rude to him. Never ever going back! No apology what so what so ever.

This place used to be one of the best Chinese-American restaurants in Delaware county. Now, I would say it's only about on par with an average city counter restaurant on a good night. Looking for an option for decent take out on a weeknight when you're ending your day later than expected can be a challenge. My wife suggested Sampan, which seemed like a safe option. She asked me to order a "big broth noodle bowl" which they corrected me and said it was a "deluxe wonton noodle bowl". It ended up not being what she intended on ordering, but she said it was still acceptable. Now, to the reason for the 1-star review. My order was the egg drop wonton soup. There wasn't anything too bad about the broth (which admittedly is hard to screw up). I kid you not that the wontons in the soup tasted like bleach mixed with toilet water. I tried eating one and couldn't even swallow the first bite. They had to be old and gone bad at least a day ago. You can read my other reviews posted about other restaurants: I am not known to be a super-picky eater and fairly judge the quality of the food I eat with perspective of the price and quality advertised. Saying that the food I was served was inedible is a terrible understatement and a disgrace for a restaurant that built up a reputation as Sampan has. I will not be ordering food from here and think everyone reading this review deserves to know how far this restaurant--once voted top Chinese restaurant in Delaware county no more than 5 years ago--has fallen from grace. I sincerely hope someone working from the restaurant reaches out to me and apologizes for the disgrace that was served to me this evening.

Do they have a different cook every night? No consistency in the entree. Falling off on quality and flavor. Ribs tough, dry, burnt.
