About Sam Woo Cafe

Welcome to Sam Woo Cafe, a Chinese restaurant located at 11688 South St #105 in Artesia, California. Operating within the Chinese Restaurant category, Sam Woo Cafe distinguishes itself by offering Dim Sum throughout the entire day, catering to those cravings that may strike at any hour. Based on recent customer reviews, experiences at Sam Woo Cafe appear to be somewhat varied, with some patrons reporting positive experiences while others have encountered challenges, particularly concerning service.

One customer, in a review dated April 20, 2025, shared a highly positive experience, awarding Sam Woo Cafe a 5-star rating. This was their second visit, and on this occasion, they brought their entire family. They reported having "still good experience" and stated that they "never have issue," expressing their intention to return soon. This review suggests that for some customers, Sam Woo Cafe provides a consistently satisfactory dining experience.

Another 5-star review, dated March 23, 2025, marked a first-time visit for the customer. They specifically sought out Sam Woo Cafe because it was the "only place serve all day Dim Sum" that they were aware of. Having visited other Dim Sum establishments, this reviewer gave Sam Woo Cafe a 5-star rating based on their initial impression. They noted that the serving sizes were "pretty fair or better than other place I go." This positive first experience led them to plan a return visit to assess the consistency of the service and food.

However, not all feedback has been uniformly positive. A more detailed review from a customer who was also craving Dim Sum and wanted to try a new spot recounted a negative first-time experience primarily due to issues with the service. This customer mentioned high expectations based on positive ratings and appealing food pictures but found the food to be "decent but nothing spectacular." The primary concern raised was the "poor" service, which significantly impacted their initial impression.

Specific issues with service included poor communication skills from the staff member assisting them, requiring repeated explanations and multiple repetitions. Additionally, there were problems with the timing of food delivery, as one ordered item, chilly cucumbers, never arrived until specifically requested and reminded at the end of the meal. Furthermore, the customer reported receiving orders that were meant for different tables, necessitating corrections by the diners. This paints a picture of a potentially disorganized or understaffed service environment during their visit.

Based on their negative experience, this reviewer suggested that Sam Woo Cafe should invest in staff training, particularly emphasizing the need for front-of-house staff with good communication skills. They also speculated that the restaurant might be understaffed, contributing to the negative customer experience, and recommended hiring more people to alleviate these issues.

Considering these contrasting reviews, it appears that Sam Woo Cafe offers the notable feature of all-day Dim Sum, which is a significant draw for those with Dim Sum cravings at any time. Some customers have found the food to be satisfactory, with fair to generous serving sizes, and have reported positive overall experiences across multiple visits. However, there are also reports of significant service issues, including communication difficulties with staff and problems with order accuracy and timeliness. These service-related challenges have led to negative first-time experiences for some customers.

Information regarding the environment of Sam Woo Cafe is limited in these reviews, with no specific descriptions of the ambiance or decor provided. Similarly, there is no mention of any specific promotional offers or features beyond the all-day availability of Dim Sum. Potential customers should weigh the convenience of all-day Dim Sum and the positive feedback on food and serving sizes against the reported inconsistencies in service quality. It might be prudent for first-time visitors to be prepared for potential service challenges and to communicate clearly with the staff.

In conclusion, Sam Woo Cafe in Artesia, CA, offers a unique advantage with its all-day Dim Sum service. While some patrons have enjoyed positive experiences with the food and service, others have encountered significant issues, particularly concerning staff communication and order management. The serving sizes are generally perceived as fair to good. For local users seeking Dim Sum at any time of day, Sam Woo Cafe is an option to consider, but it may be wise to manage expectations regarding the service based on recent customer feedback. We were craving dimsum and we wanted to try a new spot so we decided to come here. I was very excited because of the high rating and the pictures food look good. However, the food was decent but nothing spectacular but the service was unfortunately poor and we had negative first time experience because of that. First of all, the person who was helping us had poor communication skills we had to explain every word and repeat multiple times, the food didn’t come in time for example we ordered chilly cucumbers and they never came we had to ask and remind them so they brought it at the end, we received couple orders that were sent to a different table we had to correct the waiters. It was just a mess I think they should invest in training the staff and let people who can communicate well in the front. Moreover, the understaff restaurant will create a negative experience for customers so maybe they should hire more people.

Visiting from out of town & was craving dim sum. Normally I eat dim sum for brunch so when I heard this was available for dinner I got excited. Brought my friends who hadn’t been here before & met up with some other people so we had group of 6. Good size b/c it allowed us to share multiple dishes & people who didn’t eat pork had options too. We had shrimp har gow, chow fun noodles, Shu mai, Chinese broccoli, spare ribs, fried rice, & fried noodles all topped off with cups of jasmine tea. The food & smells were on point! They don’t roll around with the carts, but u mark on the menu which items u want. The main con I had was that they brought the bill by rather quickly and we had barely dug in on the main courses. We had the bill altered because we ended up ordering more food. That felt a bit rushed.

At Sam woo cafe, I really enjoyed their dim sum. You will find a wide variety of dim sum dishes and great portions at this restaurant. There is a very clean environment and the servers are very efficient. The space is a bit small, and there are not many tables, so I would recommend avoiding the rush hours. It was a great experience coming here on Saturday at 10:45 a.m., we had to wait only 10 minutes! The portion was a lot that we did not have space to try their dessert, but we will definitely return in the future.

Salty savory and most delightfully full of flavor. Hong Kong 🇭🇰 Cantonese cuisine will water your palates with their many assortment of Dim Sum offerings here. You can't go wrong with the seafood chow mein and fried rice dishes. Definitely try their appetizers like cucumbers and garlic and kimchi. It's really refreshing and full of bite. The Penang noodles soup with fat juicy shrimp is Absolutely Amazing. The service staff are very knowledgeable and speak English too. Extra clean restroom available for disabled customers and regular paying guests. Huge space to have your next birthday celebration too. Enjoy 😉
