About Salt Lake Chinese Restaurant

Salt Lake Chinese Restaurant, situated at 848 Ala Lilikoi St #115 in Honolulu, Hawaii, serves the local community as a Chinese restaurant offering a variety of dishes. Based on recent customer feedback, the restaurant presents a mixed experience, with some aspects receiving positive remarks while others indicate areas for potential improvement. This introduction aims to provide an objective overview for local users considering dining at this establishment.

Regarding the environment, one customer noted that Salt Lake Chinese Restaurant was "very clean" and had "plenty of tables," suggesting a spacious and well-maintained dining area. This can be a significant factor for those who prefer a comfortable and uncrowded setting. The convenience of the location is also highlighted, with one reviewer mentioning that the restaurant is "conveniently located with ample parking." This accessibility can be a major draw for local residents and visitors alike, making it easier to dine in without the hassle of searching for parking.

In terms of service, the feedback received is generally positive. One reviewer described the staff as "friendly" and the waitress as "great and fast." This positive interaction with the service staff can contribute significantly to a pleasant dining experience. The reviewer also mentioned that the waitress had "tea hot & ready" and proactively served the duck, bao, and the first bowl of egg drop soup, indicating attentiveness and efficiency. This level of service can create a welcoming atmosphere and enhance customer satisfaction.

However, the most significant aspect of any restaurant is the food, and here, the reviews present a more nuanced picture. One customer who ordered several items, including chow mein, char siu, two dinner plates, and seaweed fishcake soup, reported that the food "lacked flavor" and that there "wasn’t enough seasoning on any of the dishes." Even the crispy gaugee, while noted as crispy, was said to have "little flavor." This feedback suggests a potential inconsistency in the seasoning and overall taste profile of some dishes. The reviewer concluded that the only way to assess the food's quality is to order it, which led to their discovery of its lack of flavor.

On the other hand, another reviewer who seemed to have a more positive experience specifically mentioned enjoying the roast duck, bao, and egg drop soup. This suggests that certain dishes at Salt Lake Chinese Restaurant may be more flavorful and well-received than others. The discrepancy in these reviews highlights the importance for individual diners to explore the menu based on their preferences and perhaps consider trying the dishes that have garnered positive feedback.

In conclusion, Salt Lake Chinese Restaurant in Honolulu offers a clean and conveniently located dining environment with friendly and efficient service. However, feedback on the food quality is mixed, with one customer finding several dishes lacking in flavor, while another enjoyed specific items like roast duck, bao, and egg drop soup. Potential customers may want to consider these varying experiences when deciding to dine here. As there is no promotional information available in the reviews, interested users should contact the restaurant directly for any current specials or offers. Ultimately, the best way for local users to determine if Salt Lake Chinese Restaurant meets their expectations is to try it for themselves, keeping in mind the diverse opinions expressed in the recent feedback.

I ordered chow mein, char siu, two dinner plates and seaweed fishcake soup. The food lacked flavor. There wasn’t enough seasoning on any of the dishes. The crispy gaugee was crispy but even that had little flavor. The only way to know if the food is good is to order it, now I know. The service was good, the staff was friendly. The restaurant is conveniently located with ample parking.

No wait, plenty of tables, very clean. The waitress was great and fast! She had tea hot & ready. When our duck and bao came out she served us. She also served us our first bowl of egg drop soup. Definitely going to be a repeat customer ❤️

This restaurant has been here a long time. The food is home style and delicious! It wasn't terribly crowded but we noticed they have a lot of take out orders. We were a party of 7 and had: scallop soup, peking duck, beef with bitter melon, seafood with mixed veggy, roast pork (fresh not chau sui), shrimp fried rice, salt and pepper shrimp, ung choi (vegetable). We were very pleased. Everything was well prepared and tasty, not oversalted. Not spicey, this is a Cantonese style I think. The prices were comparable to other restaurants in this day and age. The service is very good, and an automatic 15% tip is in the bill since we were 7 people, which we thought was modest compared to some other places. Not a fancy place but cozy and comfortable, spacious. Will return again when in the area!

Nice little Cantonese Chinese restaurant in the Salt Lake Shopping center. Conveniently located next to Safeway and Shaka Shaka Tea several other eateries like McDonald's. Food is good, prices are fair and portions are decent. Been going here a while and occasionally that change in cooks makes the food inconsistent but generally they are our standby Chinese food spot. Favorites are salted fish fried rice, mapo tofu, eggplant with minced pork, garlic chicken over cake noodle, black bean clams, salt and pepper dished (port chops, chicken or squid all tasty). Staff has been really friendly and helpful but speaking Chinese probably helps the cause but our friends who don't speak still get good service. Ever since portions got really small and Wah Kung in the old 99 ranch complex changed ownership, we have been coming here. You should stop if you are into traditional Cantonese fare.

Salt Lake Chinese always hits the spot! We love the vegetable fried rice, orange chicken, crab ragoons, and honey walnut shrimp! The staff is always so friendly to us too whenever we do pickup orders
