About Sakana Oriental

Sakana Oriental is located at 835 Mantua Pike, Woodbury, NJ 08096, USA. They can be contacted at (856) 251-0387 or +1 856-251-0387. It is important to note that despite being listed under the category of Chinese Restaurant, the reviews indicate they also offer sushi and a variety of other Asian food.

One former regular customer who used to visit weekly years ago considered Sakana Oriental expensive but the best sushi in the area. However, upon a recent return visit for lunch, their opinion changed drastically. They felt the place "sucks now," with the "sushi chef" being the only positive aspect. They described the manager as "insanely rude," the prices as still high, but the quality as "terrible." Specific complaints included "no seasoning on the overcooked sushi rice," "ridiculously small" portions, and the impression that "everything was frozen." This reviewer stated they (literally) make better sushi at home, believe there are many better alternatives for quality or value, and will never go back or recommend Sakana Oriental to anyone.

In contrast, another customer reported having "one of the best culinary experiences" with the "four seasons dish," considering it "the best around." They praised the "perfect" vegetables, "delicious" meat, and the "outstanding" temperature, flavor, and presentation. This reviewer highly recommended dining in to preserve the freshness of the Chinese food. They also mentioned having been there three times already and intend to try the whole menu, noting the "variety of Asian food" available.

Based on these reviews, Sakana Oriental in Woodbury, NJ, presents a mixed and conflicting picture. While a former loyal customer experienced a significant decline in quality, rude management, and poor value, another customer had an exceptional experience with a specific Chinese dish (Four Seasons) and appreciates the variety of Asian food offered, recommending dine-in. Local users should be aware of these contrasting opinions, with potential for a very negative experience regarding sushi quality and service, versus a highly positive experience with at least one of their Chinese dishes and an appreciation for the broader Asian menu. Dining in might be preferable based on one reviewer's suggestion for maintaining food quality.

The environment is not clearly described, but the mention of a sushi chef implies a sushi bar area in addition to a dining space. Services include dine-in and likely takeout (common for Asian restaurants). Key features include a potentially great sushi chef (according to a negative review), a highly praised Four Seasons Chinese dish, and a variety of Asian food options. Significant drawbacks reported are rude management, high prices for terrible sushi quality, unseasoned overcooked sushi rice, ridiculously small portions (sushi), and suspicion of frozen ingredients. Dine-in is recommended by one reviewer for the Chinese food. No specific promotional information is available in the provided text.

Years ago, i would go here weekly. They were expensive, but in my opinion, the best in the area for sushi. I was back near it and decided to stop for lunch. My how times have changed. This place sucks now. The sushi chef was great, and the only good point on the place. The manager was insanely rude. The prices were just as high, but the quality was terrible. There was no seasoning on the overcooked sushi rice. Portions were ridiculously small, and it seemed like everything was frozen. I (literally) make better sushi at home. There are just too many other places now that stand out for either their quality or value. Sakana provides neither. I will never go here again and would never recommend this place to anyone.

I had one of the best culinary experiences with the four seasons dish. In my personal opinion is the best around. The vegetables were perfect and the meat was delicious, temperature, flavor and presentation were outstanding. I highly recommend dine in, in that way you will not lose the flavor of fresh well done Chinese food. I have been there three times already, I'll try the whole menu, there are a variety of Asian food.

We usually eat at a different Chinese place and they are pretty tough to beat. We ordered general tso chicken combination plates fried dumplings and Chinese pizza, and I have to say, the chinese pizza dip has no chives which Is important for the flavor. There is no pork in the pork fried rice, so its just fried rice. the chicken isn't spicy as it should be. The dumplings are too tough, and the rice is bland, no spice or flavor really. For the price, it's really not all that worth it. It smells good and all but the flavors just isnt there.ill have to stick with my normal restaurant. But the big fish with the white face and red dot, is super cool. The fish tank is clean, and the fish look healthy.

Overall great place, food is great and service is great. Atmosphere is really nice, but I've been to 1-2 other sushi places nicer. Great food at a good price makes this place a regular for me.

I don’t usually like to write negative reviews, but I am so so so DISAPPOINTED in this Kani salad. I spent $9 on this and there was literally 2 bites of the crab meat and the rest was cucumbers? With barely any spicy Mayo on it. It’s like they didn’t have crab meat so they just filled the container to the brim with cucumbers. I’m really Upset I was craving this and spent $9 on a teaspoon of shredded crab. I thought maybe there was more on the bottom but there wasn’t.
