About Saab Sis Thai

Saab Sis Thai is a Thai restaurant located at 515 S Lafayette Ave #514 in Royal Oak, MI 48067, USA. You can contact them at (248) 543-7210 or +1 248-543-7210.

Based on customer reviews, Saab Sis Thai is highly regarded for its fantastic food quality relative to its price point. The restaurant offers a great and cozy environment, complemented by very quick service, making it a potential new favorite for Thai cuisine enthusiasts in the area.

The ambiance of Saab Sis Thai is described as super cozy, featuring exposed brick, short ceilings, and ample natural light from large windows, along with cutesy decor. Its location across the street from a large parking structure offers convenient parking options for diners.

The food is characterized as delicious “comfort” food. A standout recommendation is the Khao Soi, described as a fusion of Asian Indian ramen. This dish features slow-stewed half chicken in a masaman curry (coconut milk) based soup with both rice and egg noodles, garnished with green onion and cilantro, and served with a side of red onion, pickle relish, lime, and chili oil. The chicken is noted for being exceptionally tender.

Other menu items that have received positive feedback include the dumplings, green curry, and Thai Tea, all described as delicious.

Service at Saab Sis Thai is generally prompt and as expected, even when the restaurant is busy. Given its popularity, especially during peak hours (as one reviewer noted it was nearly full at 6:15 PM on a Sunday), making a reservation is advisable.

Regarding accessibility, it's important to note that the restaurant may not be easily accessible for individuals with mobility issues. Located in the basement of a church, access involves taking steps down, and there is no ramp apparent. Therefore, for those with mobility challenges, takeout might be a more suitable option to enjoy their food at a nearby bench or other location.

One customer shared an experience where a requested mild chicken curry dish was initially too spicy. However, the restaurant provided additional coconut milk to reduce the intensity, which was helpful, although the customer had to mix it themselves. This reviewer noted the small and cute atmosphere of the place and the delicious traditional Thai drinks, also recommending a visit for fans of spicy food.

In summary, Saab Sis Thai offers a cozy environment, quick service, and delicious Thai comfort food, with the Khao Soi being a highly recommended dish. While dine-in accessibility might be a concern for some, the positive feedback on the food and overall experience suggests it's a worthwhile spot for local Thai food lovers.

Summary: fantastic food for the price, great cozy environment, very quick service. My new favorite Thai restaurant. Get the Khao Soi. Location and ambiance: Super cozy, exposed brick, short ceilings and lots of natural light from large windows. Cutesy decor. Across the street from a large parking structure so you avoid the curb side sentry mobile parking. Food and drink: delicious “comfort” food. Get the Khao Soi. Hands down, full stop. Best way to describe it is a fusion Asian Indian ramen. Slow stewed half chicken in a masaman curry (coconut milk) based soup with rice noodles and egg noodles, green onion, cilantro, and on the side: red onion, pickle relish, lime and chili oil. The chicken was so tender, you could pull it off the bone with chop sticks 🤤 Other items we had included dumplings, green curry and Thai Tea. All of those were delicious as well. Service: The restaurant definitely busy when we got there, pretty sure we had the last seats available (6:15p). Service was prompt and as expected. Consider getting a reservation. Accessibility: I would not recommend visiting if you have mobility issues, there’s no ramp as far as I could tell. No wheelchair access. It’s in the basement of a church so you have to take steps down into it. Get it take out instead and sit on a nearby bench and enjoy it outside.

Drop by on a hunger whim one Sunday. Had a chicken curry dish which I requested as mild. Unfortunately it was too spicy 🔥🥵 to enjoy initially. But they gave me more coconut milk to ease the intensity. This helped a great deal as I could actually taste the flavor. The downside was I had to mix it myself. I felt the dish was prepared in error at medium level & the should reworked it in the back & re-presented. Nonetheless, the place is small, cute, & serves traditional Thai drinks which are delicious 😋. The service is also friendly. Recommend a stop by if in the area & you're a fan of spicey food.

I want to start out by saying that this is a lovely gem of a find. I’m so glad I was in the mood for Thai food. This was not only the best Thai food I’ve ever had, the best experience at any Thai restaurant as well. The interior design and decorations are beautiful, and all the workers are beautiful too. Inside and out. Attention to detail gets me every time. Will recommend and 100% will return. I will bring cash next time, so I can get a free Thai tea. 😊

Loved everything we ordered—Thai tea (perfectly sweet), crispy chicken wings, creamy tom kha soup, Khao Soi and flavorful pineapple fried rice. Every dish was fresh, well-seasoned, and satisfying. Great service too—highly recommend!

Saab Sis Thai is a gem! From the moment we walked in, the service was impeccable—10/10. The drinks were on point, and the appetizers set the tone for a great meal. We had the fried chicken wings and spring rolls, both crispy and flavorful. The Thai fried rice was packed with heat and bold flavors, exactly what we were looking for. If you’re craving delicious Thai food with great service, this spot is a must-visit!
