About Ruyi Express

Welcome to Ruyi Express Chinese Restaurant, located at 54 Coliseum Xing, Hampton, VA 23666, USA. As a Chinese restaurant serving the Hampton community, Ruyi Express focuses on providing quick takeout service. Customer feedback indicates a mixed experience, with some praising the speed of service while others express concerns about food quality and consistency.

Information regarding the environment of Ruyi Express is limited in the provided reviews. One customer mentioned a quick pickup experience, suggesting that the establishment is primarily geared towards takeout rather than an extensive dine-in area. The focus appears to be on efficiency for customers picking up their orders. Details about the interior ambiance or seating arrangements for waiting customers are not provided.

The primary service offered by Ruyi Express is takeout. One customer highlighted the "fast and efficient" service, receiving their lunch special in under 15 minutes. This suggests that quick order fulfillment is a priority for the restaurant. However, another customer's experience indicates potential inconsistencies in service when addressing issues with their order. They reported that the restaurant was unwilling to remake a poorly prepared dish and only offered a side of sauce, even when the customer lived a 15-minute drive away. This suggests a lack of flexibility and concern for customer satisfaction in certain situations.

Customer reviews present a varied perspective on the features of Ruyi Express. On the positive side, the speed of service is noted as a benefit. Additionally, one reviewer mentioned a "General Tso's chicken lunch special" that was priced under $10 and included a free drink, indicating the availability of affordable lunch options. The same reviewer also noted that the rice in their meal was "cooked well." Furthermore, the restaurant seems to cater to those looking for specific Asian dishes, as one customer, new to the area, chose to try their Penang curry chicken and was initially "pleasantly surprised" by the taste.

However, a significant concern raised by multiple reviews is the inconsistency in food quality. One customer found their General Tso's chicken to be "very distasteful," with the chicken being "very soggy and hard to swallow." Another customer who ordered the Penang curry chicken on two separate occasions experienced a drastic difference in the dish. The first time it had a "soup base" and was tasty, but the second time it was "thick like Alfredo and lumpy" with no soup base. This inconsistency suggests a potential lack of standardized recipes or quality control in the kitchen. The same reviewer also described the food as "bland, dry, and not consistent," stating that the restaurant seems to "whip up whatever they feel like that day regardless of what you ordered."

The second reviewer's experience also highlights a significant issue with customer service. The unwillingness to remake a poorly prepared dish and the dismissive attitude towards the customer's inconvenience (a 15-minute drive) are major drawbacks. The customer's statement that the restaurant "do not stand behind" their food and their characterization of the establishment as "rude" and having "bad customer service" are serious concerns for potential patrons.

No specific promotional information beyond the mention of a "free drink" with a lunch special is available in the provided reviews. Chinese restaurants often have daily specials, combination platters, or discounts for certain order amounts. To inquire about any current promotions or special offers at Ruyi Express, it is recommended to contact them directly at (757) 896-0034 or +1 757-896-0034. Information about lunch specials or other deals may be available when placing an order.

For local users in Hampton, VA, Ruyi Express Chinese Restaurant offers a convenient takeout option with the potential for fast service and affordable lunch specials. However, it is crucial to consider the significant concerns raised by customer reviews regarding inconsistent food quality and poor customer service when issues arise. The experience of one customer who received a drastically different and unsatisfactory version of a previously enjoyed dish, coupled with the restaurant's unhelpful response, should be taken into account. While the speed of service and price point of some items may be appealing, the lack of consistency in food preparation and the potential for negative customer service experiences are important factors for potential customers to weigh.

In summary, based on the provided customer feedback, Ruyi Express Chinese Restaurant in Hampton, VA offers:

  • Fast and efficient takeout service, according to one review.
  • Affordable lunch specials, with at least one including a free drink.

However, potential customers should also be aware of the following significant concerns:

  • Inconsistent food quality, with reports of soggy chicken and drastically different preparations of the same dish on different occasions.
  • Food described as "distasteful," "bland," and "dry" by some customers.
  • Poor customer service, particularly in addressing issues with incorrect or unsatisfactory orders.
  • A lack of willingness to rectify mistakes in a satisfactory manner for the customer.

Given the contrasting experiences and the serious negative feedback regarding food consistency and customer service, local users should proceed with caution when considering Ruyi Express. While the promise of fast service and low prices may be attractive, the potential for receiving subpar food and encountering unhelpful service is a significant risk highlighted by recent customer experiences. It may be wise to consider these factors carefully before placing an order.

The service was fast and efficient. I ordered a general tsos chicken lunch special. I received my food in less then 15 minutes. I got home opened it up but it was very distasteful. The chicken was very soggy and hard to swallow. However the rice was cooked well. Overall can’t complain too much for spending less then $10 on my meal and it came with a free drink.

New to the Area.. I looked this place up and chose to ignore all the bad reviews. I ordered the Penang curry chicken. I had never tried this and wanted something different. I was pleasantly surprised as it was indeed tasty and had a soup base. Fast forward to today. I decided to order the same dish today. My husband drove 15 minutes to pick up 2 dishes for $40. The dish I got had no soup base and was thick Luke Alfredo and lumpy. I called their place of business and their only remedy was for my husband to drive back and get some sauce only. Not remake the dish, give me some sauce. When I explained the drive was 15 minutes she couldn't care less. I told her that I will review on Google and she said no problem. This place is rude and inconsistent. If you want to spend $40 for 2 dishes that they do not stand behind then this is the place to go and waste your money.. The food was bland, dry and not consistent. They will whip up whatever they feel like that day regardless of what you ordered.. Bad customer service bad food
