About Runa Izakaya

Runa Izakaya is a Japanese restaurant located at 7138 183rd St, Tinley Park, IL 60477, USA. They can be contacted at (708) 342-1652 or mobile phone +1 708-342-1652. While categorized as a Chinese Restaurant platform, Runa Izakaya offers a Japanese dining experience.

Based on online reviews, Runa Izakaya appears to offer a pleasant atmosphere with friendly staff and owners. One customer described the food, service, and atmosphere as "GREAT!" and appreciated the variety of food options available, including a Japanese seafood pizza and authentic soda with a "creamy asian wine," indicating a diverse menu beyond traditional ramen and sushi.

Runa Izakaya is particularly noted for its ramen. Customers have found the broth in their tonkotsu and tan tan men ramen to be very flavorful, even comparing it favorably to well-regarded ramen in the city. Additionally, the prices for their ramen are mentioned as being some of the lowest, with exceptional portion sizes.

However, some areas for potential improvement have been noted. One reviewer mentioned that the tonkotsu ramen noodles in their bowl were slightly undercooked and stuck together. The presentation of the ramen bowls was also described as "haphazard and hastily put together," and the service was perceived as fairly slow, with customers who ordered similar items receiving their food significantly earlier.

Regarding their sushi, specifically the Spiderman maki roll with soft-shell crab tempura, one customer found the soft-shell crab to be sparse and its flavor overpowered by the rice and sauces. However, they acknowledged that the price of the maki roll was lower compared to other Japanese izakayas, which they felt was reflected in the quantity and presentation.

Overall, Runa Izakaya offers a range of Japanese cuisine, with its flavorful and reasonably priced ramen being a highlight for some. The atmosphere and staff are generally viewed positively. Potential customers should be aware of comments regarding the presentation of dishes and the speed of service, as well as the composition of certain sushi items. No specific promotional information was available in the provided reviews.

The food, service and atmosphere was GREAT! I like that there was a plethora of different foods for the pickiest eater. I had a Japanese seafood pizza and authentic soda with a "creamy asian wine". I will DEFINITELY be going back!

I understand that this place is not in the City, but a few fundamental upgrades/refinements could certainly help this place and not hinder any quality issues. With that said, my first impressions of this japanese ramen resto is a commendable 3.5⭐️s. I have tried some really great ramen in the City like Rudys and Kyuramen and I can honestly say, that the broth in Runa Izakaya ramen bowls is very flavorful. Additionally, these are some of the lowest prices I have seen for tonkotsu or tan tan men ramen and the portions are exceptional. However, the tonkotsu ramen noodles, at least in my bowl, was slightly undercooked and stuck together, when they should be separated in long strands. Also, the presentation of the bowls was rather haphazard and hastily put together, but service was fairly slow. Customers that ordered before me received their similar ramen ahead of me by at least 15 minutes. Lastly, ordered the Spiderman maki roll which has soft-shell crab tempura (ssct), but the ssct was sparse and the rice and sauces overpowered its flavor. However, the price was much lower than other japanese izakayas; and so thereby reflected in the quantity and presentation of the maki roll. Nonetheless, it was still a pleasant meal with friendly staff and owners.

Overall, I had a pretty pleasant experience at this restaurant. All the food was tasty and came as expected. The menu had a lot of options, and the staff was very accommodating. The price was very affordable for the type of food offered. My friend and I were very satisfied with our meals. However, I couldn't give 5 stars as the place was pretty crowded and loud, so the ambiance was less relaxing. Additionally, my ramen had a lot more noodles than the other toppings, and it felt like it was missing some of those ingredients. However, with the price of the ramen, I can understand and still enjoyed the ramen. This place is great if you are looking for a cheap and good-quality Asian restaurant.

My friend and I decided to go to this place randomly on a Saturday evening and i’m so glad we went! The atmosphere was so beautiful and the service was quick. My favorite was trying their Godzilla Roll, one of the best Godzilla Rolls i’ve had. I can’t wait to go back one of these days.

The restaurant is small but somehow the perfect size. Service is speedy and friendly. I ordered from the Entree selection, and the portions are very generous... enough to feed at least 3 people. The is flavorful and great tasting.
