About Royal Queen

Royal Queen is a Chinese restaurant located on the third floor of a bustling mall at 136-20 Roosevelt Ave in Flushing, Queens, New York. Situated within the Chinese Restaurant category, Royal Queen distinguishes itself by offering a particularly noteworthy dim sum experience. Dim sum is a Cantonese cuisine tradition involving a wide variety of small, savory and sweet dishes, typically served steamed, fried, or baked. Based on enthusiastic customer reviews, Royal Queen appears to be a standout destination for those seeking authentic and fresh dim sum in the Flushing area.

The environment of Royal Queen, being on the third floor of a busy mall, is described by one reviewer as feeling like a "secret restaurant." This suggests a potentially unique or perhaps slightly less obvious location that adds to the dining experience. While it might seem packed, the restaurant is noted to be fairly large, allowing for a steady flow of customers. This indicates that despite its popularity, there is a reasonable turnover, minimizing long waits. However, accessibility by car might be challenging, as one reviewer recommends taking the subway instead of driving, likely due to parking constraints or traffic congestion associated with the busy mall location.

The service at Royal Queen is consistently praised in the available reviews. Customers highlight the "friendly and attentive staff" who contribute to a seamless dining experience, even when language barriers exist. The traditional dim sum service style, where servers wheel around carts filled with various dishes, is a key feature. This allows diners to easily see the options and simply point to choose what they would like to try, making the selection process interactive and convenient. Notably, the restaurant does not rush diners to leave after they have finished eating, allowing them to relax and fully enjoy their time, which adds to the overall positive experience.

The primary feature of Royal Queen is undoubtedly its exceptional dim sum. The freshness of the food is repeatedly emphasized, with each dish described as "bursting with authentic flavors." This suggests a commitment to using high-quality ingredients and preparing the dim sum in a way that truly captures the traditional tastes of Cantonese cuisine. The extensive menu, navigated through the carts, offers a wide variety of options, catering to different preferences. While one reviewer mentioned that the food is "pretty good, but can be better, depending on the items," the overall sentiment towards the dim sum is overwhelmingly positive, with Royal Queen earning a spot on a customer's list of favorite dining spots.

A point of consideration for some customers might be the language barrier. While most servers understand some English, communication could be difficult without a Chinese speaker, particularly since the servers understand Mandarin and Cantonese, which are prevalent in the heart of Flushing. However, the cart service, where visual selection is primary, likely mitigates this issue to a significant extent for dim sum. For ordering other potential menu items not on the carts, having someone who speaks Chinese might be beneficial for a smoother experience.

The location on the third floor of a busy mall at 136-20 Roosevelt Ave, Flushing, NY 11354, while potentially challenging for drivers, offers the convenience of being easily accessible by subway, as recommended by one reviewer. This makes Royal Queen a viable dining option for those relying on public transportation in the Flushing area.

In conclusion, Royal Queen in Flushing stands out as a Chinese restaurant offering an exceptional dim sum experience. Its fresh and authentic dishes, served via convenient carts, along with the friendly and attentive staff, create a positive dining atmosphere. The restaurant's location on the third floor of a busy mall might make driving less ideal, but it is easily accessible by subway. While language might be a minor consideration for some, the overall quality of the dim sum and the pleasant dining experience make Royal Queen a highly recommended spot for both newcomers and seasoned dim sum enthusiasts in Flushing. For those seeking a traditional and delicious dim sum experience, Royal Queen is certainly worth a visit.

On the third floor of a busy mall, it feels like a secret restaurant to get dim sum. This is a tough place to get to - you are better off taking the subway instead of driving. It looks packed, but it's fairly large so people move in and out of the restaurant. Food is pretty good, but can be better, depending on the items. Most servers understand some English, but since this is in the heart of Flushing, it can be difficult to order without a Chinese speaker with you (servers understand Mandarin and Cantonese).

Delicious Cantonese breakfast with authentic flavors and warm service. The dim sum is fresh and flavorful, and the congee is comforting. A must-visit spot for a satisfying morning meal!

Ambiance (5/5): The restaurant is located in the New World Mall, 3rd fl with the dining area located inside a HUGE banquet hall. So the décor is decorated for the purpose and the facilities are very clean, including the bathrooms. The tables are spaced far apart so it doesn’t feel crammed and there are a million dining tables. I have a hard time believing that it could be at 100% capacity if they tried. Service (5/5): Agree with other reviews that knowing Mandarin is pretty necessary to communicate certain needs. However, if you are going for dimsum, you can easily just point to the dishes that you want. It may take some time to get someone’s attention but they are quick to fetch whatever you need. There’s some stations in the main dining area where they cook the food in front of you! Food (4/5): The dishes vary on taste and portions. We had tried probably close to 15+ dishes and 80% of them were authentic to taste/quality/portions. My favorite might be their egg tarts which were freshly baked, crunchy, and not too sweet. We had the chicken feet, shumai, steamed rice rolls, steamed rice in bamboo leaves, tofu rolls, spare ribs, short ribs, fried dough, fried buns with black sesame, bbq pork buns, pork dumplings, steamed custard buns, steamed tofu. For our table of 7 people, our bill came out to $33/p with tip included. Stuffed to the max! Will definitely come back.

In area for Lion Dance performance on Lunar New Year’s Day. Decided to dine here for the convenience & grandeur of the venue. Royal Queen is known for its afternoon Dim Sum and banquet dinners. Been coming here many years and the experience is good overall 👍. It’s a higher end dining option for Flushing. We generally choose this for groups of 6-30 people. Not recommended for Date Night. It can get crowded & noisy when events go in full swing. The waiter said it can set up 130 tables and host 1,300 people here. My dad & uncle were joining us for the evening. Both are retired chefs with over 30 years culinary experience each. There were set dinner menus for the evening but we decided to go A La Carte. The dishes were good & on point. My uncle did point out 1 interesting detail. An identical sauce was used for the steak, lamb, & goose entrees. I didn’t even notice it until he pointed it out. 😅😅. My taste palate is not as acute as a chef. I guess it was a busy night so they wanted everything done quickly. We arrived at 4:30 pm and it was full house by the time we were leaving. The service was good and entrees served efficiently, about 2-3 minutes apart. Prices are higher than other restaurants but you’re paying a premium for the venues grandiose setting & service… 12/26/24 20% off dim sum. Monday - Friday only. $58.95 Peking duck & other specials
