About Royal Palace Restaurant
Royal Palace Restaurant, located at 4510 Salt Lake Blvd C1 in Honolulu, Hawaii, operates as a Chinese restaurant offering both buffet and potentially a la carte options to its local customers. Based on recent online reviews, experiences at this establishment appear to be varied, with significant differences in customer satisfaction regarding the environment, food quality, and service.
One of the most concerning aspects highlighted in the reviews is the environment of Royal Palace Restaurant. A particularly critical review described a strong odor of "cat urine" upon entering, which the reviewer felt should have been a warning sign. This suggests a potential issue with cleanliness or maintenance within the premises. The same review further noted that the restaurant appeared "run down" and that the floors, tables, and even the kitchen looked "filthy." Such feedback raises serious concerns about the hygiene and overall condition of the dining area, which can significantly impact a customer's dining experience and perception of the restaurant.
In contrast, another reviewer described the location as "very clean." This stark difference in opinions regarding cleanliness suggests a potential inconsistency or perhaps different experiences at different times. It is important for potential customers to consider this discrepancy when evaluating the environment of Royal Palace Restaurant. Observing the cleanliness and overall condition upon arrival might be advisable.
The service at Royal Palace Restaurant also received mixed feedback. The reviewer who had a "terrible experience" mentioned that the employees were "nice" but that the service was "almost nonexistent." This suggests a disconnect between the friendliness of the staff and their attentiveness or efficiency in serving customers. The same reviewer also noted issues with the buffet not being adequately replenished and a lack of expected traditional Chinese buffet items. On the other hand, the reviewer who found the location "very clean" also stated that the "service was great and friendly," indicating a positive interaction with the staff. This again highlights the variability in customer experiences regarding the service provided.
The food quality at Royal Palace Restaurant is a significant point of contention in the reviews. The customer who reported a terrible experience found "all the food tasted old" at the weekend dinner buffet. They also noted a lack of traditional Chinese buffet options and that the "fresh" fruit did not appear fresh, opting instead for canned fruit. This paints a concerning picture of the food being served, particularly in terms of freshness and variety. The weekend buffet was priced at $15.95, which the reviewer felt was "way too overpriced for what you get," further emphasizing their dissatisfaction with the food quality and selection.
In contrast, the other reviewer mentioned that the food they "ordered was a bit watered down not as flavorful as other places." This suggests that even the non-buffet items might lack the robust flavors expected from Chinese cuisine. However, this reviewer also mentioned a weekday buffet available seven days a week between 11 am and 2 pm for $24.00, which they had not yet tried but were considering as a "2nd attempt of food taste." The significant price difference between the weekend dinner buffet ($15.95) and the weekday buffet ($24.00) is notable and might indicate different offerings or quality levels between the two.
One specific feature mentioned in the negative review was the unavailability of ice cream, as the machine was "out of order." While seemingly a minor point, it contributes to the overall negative impression of the restaurant's maintenance and offerings.
Currently, there is limited information available regarding specific promotional offers at Royal Palace Restaurant. The mention of the weekend buffet price ($15.95) and the weekday buffet price ($24.00) provides some insight into their pricing structure for the buffet options. However, there are no details about any discounts, special deals, or other promotions that might be available. Local users interested in potential promotions should consider contacting the restaurant directly at (808) 487-6662 or +1 808-487-6662 to inquire about any current offers or discounts.
In conclusion, Royal Palace Restaurant in Honolulu presents a mixed picture based on recent customer reviews. While one reviewer praised the cleanliness and service, another reported significant issues with the environment, food quality (particularly the weekend buffet), and overall experience. The weekday buffet is priced higher and has not been reviewed by the available customers. Potential diners should carefully consider these contrasting experiences when deciding whether to visit Royal Palace Restaurant. It might be prudent to assess the restaurant's condition upon arrival and perhaps inquire about the current buffet offerings or a la carte options before committing to a meal. Given the strong negative feedback regarding the weekend buffet and the environment from one reviewer, it would be wise for prospective customers to exercise caution and potentially seek more recent reviews or firsthand observations before dining at this establishment.

Customer Reviews
Absolutely terrible experience. From the moment we walked through the door, the smell of cat urine should have made us turn around and head back out. For the $15.95 weekend buffet price it is not at all worth it. We got there just as they were setting out for dinner and there wasn't many options to choose from. We were told they would bring more out and over the next 45 minutes they brought out maybe 4 different things. All the food tasted old and they had none of the traditional items you would expect to find at a Chinese buffet. There "fresh" fruit was not at all fresh and looked like it had been sitting out for a while. I steered clear of that and stuck with the canned fruit instead. This was the cheaper of the options available for Chinese buffets but it was still way to overpriced for what you get. The restaurant itself is run down and the floors, tables, and even the kitchen looked filthy. The only good thing I can say about my experience was that the employees were nice but the service was almost nonexistent and the food absolutely gross. If you were hoping to get some ice cream, don't hold your breath because the machine is out of order.
Very clean location, service was great and friendly. The food we ordered was a bit watered down not as flavorful as other places. They have a buffet 7 days a week between 11am-2pm for 24.00 haven't tried it yet bit nay try it for the 2nd attempt of food taste.
Don’t let the their picture fool you. The trays are always empty and they really don’t have a huge selection. Been here 15 mins and the food trays still empty I got full on rice The price does not match the food.
If you want the dinner buffet, you need a minimum of 20 people. They do have Senior Citizen discount for people over 65 years. Service by Bosco is excellent! We enjoyed the delicious food, free parking, and convenient restroom!
Fried rice was good but everything else tasted so weird. I'm not sure what seasoning or batter they use but they were all off. Not worth it.
