About Royal Palace Of Troy
Royal Palace Of Troy is a Chinese restaurant located at 5087 Rochester Rd, Troy, MI 48085. As a Chinese Restaurant, it offers a variety of dishes, including dim sum, traditional Chinese cuisine, and some American Chinese options. You can contact them at (248) 740-9522 or +1 248-740-9522.
Based on recent customer reviews, experiences at Royal Palace Of Troy appear to be mixed. Some customers have expressed significant dissatisfaction with the quality and pricing of the dim sum. Negative feedback includes concerns about the ingredients used, the flavor of certain dishes like beef tripe, and issues with the preparation of items such as congee and turnip cake. One reviewer suggested that the ground pork in dumplings tasted old and that the lotus-wrapped chicken was too greasy. Additionally, there were comments about the tea pricing policy, where all members of a group are charged even if only one person orders it.
In comparison to other local Chinese restaurants specializing in dim sum, such as China Palace and Shangri-La, one reviewer found the selection at Royal Palace Of Troy to be smaller and the quality of the ordered items to be not as good, with some items being overpriced.
On a more positive note, other customers in a group setting enjoyed their food, noting that the portion sizes were good and the service was efficient, with food arriving quickly. The restaurant also accommodates requests for separate checks and offers ample parking. It was also mentioned that the menu features a wide variety of traditional Chinese dishes, some geared towards family groups with larger soup portions. However, the restaurant does not offer fountain drinks, serving diet Coke in a can, and a customer had to request a glass of ice.
Overall, while some aspects like service and parking are appreciated, customer reviews indicate potential inconsistencies in the quality and pricing of the dim sum. For those interested in traditional Chinese dishes beyond dim sum, the experience might be more favorable based on some of the feedback.

Customer Reviews
Terrible Dim Sum and terrible prices. Quality is horrendous and let me explain. Congee is full of flour instead of rice. Beef tripe has no flavor. 蘿蔔糕 turnip cake, the turnip and flour is separated so every bit you either get turnip or a mouth full of flour. Ground pork in dumplings is old so tasted gamey. 糯米雞Lotus wrapped chicken is too greasy, too much pork fat in the stuffing. Tea is $3.50 a person. If only one person in a group get tea they still charge everybody which is ridiculous. I don't have high hope for good quality dim sum in metro Detroit but this place should close soon. Basically they use the cheapest Ingredients they can buy and charge full price for it. Might as well buy frozen dim sum and steam it at home instead of wasting time and money here.
While I have heard good things about here and their dim sum menu. I was not impressed. Some items were much higher priced than they should have been. The selection was smaller than China Palace and Shangri-La, and what I ordered wasn't as good. Menu did have a wide choices of other more traditional Chinese dishes and some American Chinese. Some aimed for family group like all the soups being for 4-6 people. Every one in the group did enjoy their food and the amount of dishes were good size. Service was good and the food came out fast. We were even allowed separate checks. Lots of parking available. No fountain drink do diet Coke in a can and I had to ask for a glass of ice. Glad I tried it, but the group agreed we will stick to other places for dim sum and traditional Chinese food.
One of the best Chinese restaurants in the area. Very authentic, and less “American Chinese” options. I feel that’s why there is mixed reviews. The waitresses were very kind and provided a complementary bbq pork baozi at the end of the meal.
2024: My wife and I went back again for Dim Sum on a Saturday afternoon about a year after the first time. They updated their menu. The Dim Sum was very good and we also ordered some fried noodles with soy sauce and asked them to add beef, that was also good. We had no complaints about anything at this place and the staff are great. The food took under 10 minutes to come out. 2023: This place is located where the East Lake Chinese restaurant used to be. They serve Dim Sum anytime so we tried it one weekday evening and ordered 6 items. Their Dim Sum was good and we will definitely go again. The staff are all very friendly.
Food is great. But service was horrible. If you get seated at the edge of the restaurant or if you aren't Chinese, you seem to become forgotten. The food cart only came by us once. Dessert cart twice. We dined in for almost 2 hours only to recieve a few items. Would not recommend.
