About Rice N Noodles

Welcome to Rice N Noodles, an Asian restaurant located at 9828 W 87th St, Overland Park, KS 66212. While the name suggests a focus on rice and noodle-based dishes, it's understood to operate within the category of a Chinese restaurant, offering a range of familiar Asian cuisine to the Overland Park community. Recent customer reviews present a mixed picture of the dining experience at Rice N Noodles, with positive feedback regarding certain dishes and service contrasting sharply with a severe report of food poisoning.

One customer shared a deeply negative experience after ordering the wonton soup and Singapore noodles. While they found the soup to be good initially, they described the Singapore noodles as being excessively salty, leading to a burning sensation on their tongue and stomach discomfort. Tragically, within 30 minutes of not finishing their meal, they experienced severe gastrointestinal distress, accompanied by an extreme headache, chills, and a fever. Working in a doctor's office, they were informed that their symptoms were consistent with food poisoning. The customer recounted intense muscle pains all over their body and vowed never to return to Rice N Noodles, expressing concern that the food may have been mishandled, leading to bacterial growth. This review raises serious concerns about the restaurant's food safety and handling practices.

In stark contrast, another customer shared a very positive experience, expressing their love for the Honey Shrimp and Crab Rangoon. These dishes appear to be popular choices that have garnered positive feedback. This reviewer also specifically praised the lady behind the counter for being "always so kind and helpful," highlighting a significant strength in customer service. Despite not living in the Kansas City area, this customer makes an effort to visit Rice N Noodles for their favorite dishes whenever they are in town, and they were impressed that the staff member seemed to remember them, indicating a high level of personalized and attentive customer service.

Considering these two very different reviews, it is challenging to form a definitive overall impression of Rice N Noodles. The positive feedback regarding the Honey Shrimp, Crab Rangoon, and the kindness of the counter staff suggests that there are aspects of the restaurant that are well-received. The personalized customer service, particularly the staff member remembering a non-local patron, is a notable strength that can foster customer loyalty.

However, the severe report of suspected food poisoning after consuming the wonton soup and Singapore noodles cannot be ignored. Such an incident raises significant concerns about food quality, freshness, and handling procedures at Rice N Noodles. While it is only one reported instance, the severity of the symptoms described warrants serious consideration for potential customers.

Information about the environment of Rice N Noodles is limited in these reviews. One can infer that it likely has a counter area for order placement and possibly a dining area for eating in. The positive mention of the "lady behind the counter" suggests a service model where customers interact directly with staff at a counter, at least for ordering and pickup.

The services offered appear to include both dine-in and takeout, as one customer mentioned taking their food to the restroom shortly after eating, implying they were dining in or had just received their order for immediate consumption. The quick and friendly service at the counter, as highlighted by the positive reviewer, indicates an efficient order process.

Based on the available customer feedback, the features of Rice N Noodles include:

  • Potentially tasty Honey Shrimp and Crab Rangoon, which are loved by at least one customer.
  • Friendly and helpful counter staff, with at least one employee noted for excellent customer service and a good memory for returning customers.
  • Options for both dine-in and takeout.

However, it is equally important to acknowledge the significant negative feedback:

  • A severe case of suspected food poisoning linked to the Singapore noodles and possibly the wonton soup, raising serious concerns about food safety.
  • A report of excessively salty Singapore noodles, indicating potential issues with food preparation or seasoning.

Regarding promotional information, the provided reviews do not mention any specific ongoing promotions or special offers at Rice N Noodles. Local users interested in potential discounts or daily specials are advised to contact the restaurant directly at (913) 649-5555 or +1 913-649-5555 for the most current information.

In conclusion, Rice N Noodles in Overland Park, KS, presents a complex picture based on the limited recent customer reviews. While there are positive aspects, such as the praised Honey Shrimp and Crab Rangoon, and commendably friendly customer service from at least one staff member, the severe report of suspected food poisoning is a major concern that potential customers must consider. The drastically different experiences suggest potential inconsistencies in food quality and safety practices. Local users might want to exercise caution and consider these factors when deciding whether to dine at or order from Rice N Noodles. It would be prudent for the restaurant management to address the serious food safety allegations to ensure the well-being and trust of their customers.

I had the wonton soup and Singapore noodles, Soup was good, and the noodles were very very salty, all of a sudden my tongue started to burn and my stomach was turning, I had explosiveness out of both ends in the restroom 30 min after not finishing my meal. extreme headache, I work in a doctor office and they said I had food poisoning. It was so horrible, the stabbing muscle pains all over my body and chills with a temp. I will never return. Food must've sat out or been old with bacterial growth. Its a NO for me

I love the Honey Shrimp and Crab Rangoon. The lady behind the counter is always so kind and helpful. I don't live in the KC area, but when I do go, I try to make in for my favorites. Somehow, she seems to remember me. Great customer service!

Great food for the price range. I get house special lo mein and fried rice, each $13 and large portions. Edit: 1 year later and the food, price, and service are all still great ๐Ÿ‘

This is my first time coming here and they did not disappoint! I spent $51 dollars and it was well worth it๐Ÿค. The crab Rangoonโ€™s were creamy and fresh and crunchy. The rice has a wonderful diversity taste. The orange chicken was good as well just a little bit too much sauce ๐Ÿ˜… but overall good. We had veggie spring rolls as well they were small but very good ๐Ÿ˜Š and everything was just so tasty definitely coming back!

This rating is purely on presentation. The front is unkempt, they use part of the eating area for storage. The tables are not set the same. Some (including mine) did not have anything on it. The food is average. Would not recommend dining in for sure. Take out would be best. But food is just average. Styrofoam for serving dishes (as some do) and no fountain drinks.
