About Rice King

Welcome to Rice King, a Chinese restaurant located at 7327 Tazewell Pike, Corryton, TN 37721, USA. You can place your orders or make inquiries by calling them at (865) 687-0101 or their mobile number +1 865-687-0101. As a local Chinese restaurant, Rice King aims to provide a range of oriental cuisine options for the Corryton community, primarily through takeout services.

Based on customer feedback, Rice King has garnered a reputation over the years with some patrons having been loyal customers for a long time. One long-term customer expressed their consistent satisfaction, highlighting Rice King as a "great place to get your oriental fix." They specifically recommended the Kung Pao Chicken with extra mushrooms and praised the Crab Meat Rangoon. This reviewer also mentioned enjoying various other dishes over the years, including the Chicken and Broccoli and the Egg Drop Soup. They further noted the convenience of an online app for ordering, in addition to phone orders, and concluded that Rice King offers the "best oriental food around the Corryton area for sure." This positive feedback suggests a history of providing enjoyable Chinese cuisine to the local community.

However, a more recent review presents a starkly contrasting experience. A customer who recalled the food being "really good" in their high school days ordered takeout for their family, totaling $92 including the tip. Unfortunately, this experience resulted in food poisoning for the reviewer, with severe symptoms occurring the following morning. Their husband also experienced milder symptoms. The specific dishes consumed by the reviewer were Orange Chicken and Fried Rice, and they noted that the Wonton Soup tasted "really off" as well. This customer expressed disappointment and regretted leaving a bad review but felt compelled to share their negative experience, ultimately recommending others to "probably just skip this place" due to the illness and the cost of the meal.

Considering these two very different accounts, it is evident that the experiences at Rice King can vary significantly. The positive review emphasizes a history of good food quality, a variety of enjoyable dishes, and convenient ordering options. The Kung Pao Chicken, Crab Meat Rangoon, Chicken and Broccoli, and Egg Drop Soup are specifically mentioned as being well-received. The availability of an online app and phone ordering caters to customers seeking easy takeout options.

On the other hand, the negative review raises serious concerns about food safety and quality control. The report of food poisoning after consuming the Orange Chicken, Fried Rice, and Wonton Soup is a significant issue that potential customers should be aware of. The severity of the illness reported by the reviewer suggests a potential problem with food handling or preparation on the day of their order. This incident could understandably deter other customers from patronizing Rice King.

Given the conflicting feedback, it is difficult to provide a definitive assessment of the current state of Rice King. While there is a history of positive experiences and a loyal customer base, the recent report of food poisoning is a serious concern that cannot be dismissed. Local users considering ordering from Rice King may want to take both perspectives into account. The positive review suggests that when the food is prepared well, it can be quite enjoyable, with certain dishes like the Kung Pao Chicken and Crab Meat Rangoon being popular choices. The convenience of online and phone ordering is also a notable service.

However, the risk of foodborne illness, as reported in the negative review, is a significant factor that potential customers must consider. It might be prudent for individuals with health sensitivities or those ordering for families to exercise caution. It is also worth noting that the negative review does not provide details about when the order was placed, which could potentially offer some context. Nonetheless, the severity of the reported illness warrants careful consideration.

For local users in the Corryton area looking for a Chinese takeout option, Rice King presents itself as a long-standing establishment with a history of satisfied customers. They offer a variety of familiar Chinese-American dishes, with some specific items like the Kung Pao Chicken and Crab Meat Rangoon receiving positive mentions. The availability of online and phone ordering adds to the convenience. However, the recent and serious report of food poisoning associated with specific dishes is a significant red flag that potential customers should not ignore. It might be advisable to seek more recent reviews or perhaps inquire directly with the restaurant about their current food safety practices before placing an order, especially for dishes that have been implicated in negative experiences.

In conclusion, Rice King in Corryton, TN, has received both positive feedback regarding the taste and quality of some of its dishes and convenient services, as well as a serious recent report of food poisoning. Local users should weigh these contrasting experiences when deciding whether to order from this Chinese restaurant. While some customers have enjoyed Rice King for many years, the recent health concern necessitates caution and further consideration.

Well, back in my high school days I remember their food being really good! Last night was the first time my family ordered take-out in a while. It was 92$ including the tip. I ended up getting food poisoning. I woke up at exactly 7 am feeling the sickest I've felt in a long time. You can imagine the rest. My husband had milder symptoms. I had the orange chicken & fried rice. The wonton soup tasted really off too. This is disappointing and I dislike leaving bad reviews. 92$ and really sick. 🤒 I probably would just skip this place. 😭

We stopped for lunch and it was excellent. Food was made fresh and very hot! We got Chicken with Broccoli and General Tso lunches and both were really good. Came with fried rice and a drink.

I've driven by this place countless times since living in the area and, after reading some great reviews, decided to try it. Ordering online was quick and easy. The wait time for our to-go order was very reasonable (20 minutes for 3 meals, 1 appetizer, large soup, and extra fried noodles). My family really enjoyed all of the food. The prices are super reasonable for what you get - with a tip our order was $45. I was also surprised that our meals came with bottled drinks at no additional charge. Overall, this is a great restaurant that I'll definitely try again!
