Customer feedback regarding Rice Bowl 1 presents a stark contrast in experiences, with some highlighting positive aspects while others express significant concerns about the food quality and overall dining experience. One reviewer praised the staff as "great and friendly" and particularly enjoyed the egg drop soup, describing it as "very well made" and reminiscent of homemade soup. They also found the sesame chicken to be "great" but noted a lack of heat in the General Tso's chicken and the absence of a black pepper chicken option. This reviewer's main complaint was consistently overcooked egg rolls, but they reiterated the "wonderful staff."

However, another customer had an overwhelmingly negative experience, suggesting the name "Rice Bowl 1" implied a one-time visit due to poor quality. This reviewer found the chicken noodle soup to have "zero taste" with soggy noodles and bland, rubbery chicken. The fried dumplings were described as "soaked in whatever sauce" and unappetizing in appearance and taste. The sweet and sour chicken consisted of "tiny chicken pieces hidden in greasy inch thick dough," and the sesame chicken tasted old and hard. Both the plain fried rice and lo mein were deemed "totally tasteless" and "beyond plain." The hibachi chicken was reported to be "swimming in sauce" with tough, rubbery, and not fresh chicken. This customer concluded that the food was "complete crap," especially considering the cost, and ranked it as the worst Asian food they had ever been served. They also expressed doubt about the cooking skills of the staff and suggested a health department visit due to concerns about the freshness or preparation of the chicken.

Even the dessert, the donuts, received negative feedback from the second reviewer, who described them as not fresh and possibly several hours or days old. The only positive aspect mentioned by this highly critical reviewer was the fortune cookies, which were noted for being fresh and made in Georgia, not locally.

The significant disparity between these two reviews indicates a potential inconsistency in the food quality and overall experience at Rice Bowl 1. While one customer found the staff friendly and enjoyed specific items like the egg drop soup and sesame chicken, another encountered multiple dishes that were severely lacking in taste, freshness, and proper preparation. The strong negative feedback, including concerns about food safety and cooking ability, should be taken seriously by potential customers.

The positive reviewer's comments suggest that the staff at Rice Bowl 1 are generally well-regarded for their friendliness. This can contribute to a pleasant atmosphere, even if the food quality is inconsistent. The mention of specific dishes like egg drop soup and sesame chicken being good might indicate that some menu items are prepared to a higher standard than others.

The negative reviewer's detailed account of multiple poorly prepared dishes raises concerns about the overall quality control and cooking standards at Rice Bowl 1. Issues such as tasteless soup, soggy noodles, bland and rubbery chicken, greasy and doughy sweet and sour chicken, hard and old sesame chicken, and overly sauced hibachi chicken suggest fundamental problems with the preparation and potentially the freshness of the ingredients.

The location within the Westport Market Shopping Center suggests that Rice Bowl 1 likely caters to shoppers and local residents looking for a convenient meal. However, the strongly negative review might deter those seeking a reliable and tasty dining experience. The large portion sizes mentioned by the negative reviewer were deemed irrelevant due to the poor food quality, indicating that quantity does not compensate for a lack of quality.

No specific details about the dining environment or ambiance of Rice Bowl 1 were provided in the reviews. Similarly, there was no mention of services such as dine-in, takeout, or delivery, although it can be inferred that takeout is likely available given the nature of the shopping center location. Local users may need to contact the restaurant directly to inquire about these services.

Furthermore, no promotional information, such as special offers, discounts, or lunch specials, was mentioned in the provided customer reviews. Individuals interested in any potential promotions at Rice Bowl 1 should contact the restaurant directly at (704) 489-9788 or +1 704-489-9788 for the most up-to-date information.

In conclusion, Rice Bowl 1 in Denver, NC, at the Westport Market Shopping Center, has received highly contrasting reviews. While the staff has been praised for their friendliness and some dishes like the egg drop soup and sesame chicken were enjoyed by one customer, another reviewer reported widespread issues with the taste, quality, freshness, and preparation of multiple dishes, leading to a severely negative overall assessment. Potential customers should carefully consider this mixed feedback when deciding whether to dine at or order from Rice Bowl 1. For more information about their menu, services, and any promotions, direct contact with the restaurant is recommended.

The staff here is great and friendly. Egg drop soup is very well made reminds me of getting it homemade as a kid. Sesame chicken great not a fan of the General Taos has almost no heat. No black pepper chicken option. My only real complain is every time my eggrolls are over cooked. Just wonderful staff.

So we tried Rice Bowl 1 for dinner, the reason they are called Rice Bowl 1 is because you go there one time and you are done. The chicken noodle soup had zero taste, the noodles were soggy and the few pieces of chicken were about as bland as it gets and had a consistency of rubber. The fried dumplings were soaked in whatever sauce and not like any fried dumplings I had ever seen, they looked gross and tasted worse. The Sweet and Sour Chicken was basically tiny chicken pieces hidden in greasy inch thick dough. I tried the Sesame Chicken, not sure when it was made but it tastes like it was hours ago and every piece was hard like fried wood chips. The plain fried rice and lo mein were totally tasteless, the were both beyond plain. The last dish we tried was the Hibachi Chicken, the dish was swimming in sauce, the chicken was tough, rubbery and not fresh. This was not a cheap dinner and the food was complete crap, I have been to 80 to 100 Asian restaurants and this was by far the worst food i was ever served. I doubt the people working there know how to cook, this was a disaster. For dessert we tried the Donuts, the were not fresh, not sure if the were made 7 hours or 7 days ago. I'm so disappointed in this place. Warning for all go anywhere else it will be better. All portions were large but what does that help if the food is terrible. Maybe they need to focus on quality instead of quantity. The only good thing about the food was the fortune cookies, they were fresh and were made in Stone Mountain, GA, not in Denver, NC. This place needs to be visited by the health department because I believe the chicken was all expired or precooked or the place needs to be renamed to Really Bad Asian Cook

My husband ordered from here again because of the snow and we weren’t up to cooking. I wasn’t thrilled because of our last few times being a disappointment. I’m not sure if they read my review before but the food was really great today! Everything was fresh and it tasted wonderful!

We have been going here for eight years and LOVE it! The wanton soup and garlic chicken are our favorites, but the California roll is great too!

The food here is delicious!! Generous portions and served hot and fresh. You get duck sauce and chips as an appetizer. The egg rolls are huge and crispy.
