About Red Wok Buffet
Red Wok Buffet, located at 3434 E Thomas Rd in Phoenix, is a Chinese restaurant operating as a buffet. It offers a diverse range of food options, including various Chinese dishes, a salad bar, and sushi. There is also a grill section, although its operational status, particularly during lunch hours, is uncertain based on available reviews.
Customer feedback on the food quality at Red Wok Buffet is mixed. Several reviewers noted that many of the dishes tended to be either too greasy or dry. Specific items mentioned include fried rice (aesthetically unappealing and dry), lo mein and rice noodles (too greasy), and baked catfish (greasy but well-seasoned). The chili oil was also reported to have an unappetizing separated appearance. Some dishes received more neutral feedback, such as the BBQ short ribs, sweet and sour chicken, and bok choy. Plain steamed white rice was suggested as a better alternative to the fried rice. One positive note regarding the food was a reviewer's enjoyment of the BBQ chicken.
In terms of the environment, one reviewer described the overall cleanliness as average and suggested that the exposed wood tabletops could harbor bacteria and should be replaced. The men's restroom was deemed okay, although better lighting was recommended.
Service experiences appear to be somewhat varied. One traveling customer who enjoys Chinese buffets found the selection to be good, the pricing reasonable, and the wait staff attentive to their needs. However, another local customer who visited due to the restaurant's apparent popularity during evenings and weekends reported being unsatisfied with their experience and indicated it would likely be their first and last visit, citing better food quality at another similar buffet elsewhere in the valley.
While opinions on food quality and cleanliness are divided, it's noted that Red Wok Buffet tends to be busy during evenings and weekends, suggesting it has a regular customer base. For those interested in trying Red Wok Buffet, they can contact the restaurant at (602) 955-8889 or +1 602-955-8889.

Customer Reviews
Most of the food was either a bit too greasy or dry. Bbq short ribs were ok. Baked catfish was a bit too greasy but seasoned well. Sweet and sour chicken was ok. Bok cho was ok. Plain steamed white rice was a better choice than the fried rice. My wife enjoyed the bbq chicken. Fried rice was aesthetically unappealing and a tad too dry. Lo Mein was too greasy. Rice noodles were too greasy for my taste. The chili oil kept separating with a cloudy residue that didn't look right. The pizza my grandson had, according to him, wasn't that good. He just got steamed rice after. The rest of the food I didn't try but looked about the same, too greasy. The salad bar is just a salad bar with some decent options. Sushi was available, but I'm not a sushi lover. There was a grill, but I dont think it's open for lunch. Overall, cleanliness is average. Change the table tops. Exposed wood can hold bacteria. Men's restroom was ok. More lighting could be better in the restroom. This was my first time here and probably will be my last time. Another Chinese buffet restaurant, not remotely close to the valley with similar buffet options, was much better in the quality of their food. This place is usually busy in the evenings and weekends. Based on that I stopped in and left unsatisfied. Yet I'm positive they'll stay open. Good luck..
I like to include a Chinese Buffet for dinner when I am traveling on vacation. They have a good selection of food and it is reasonably priced. The wait staff also was attentive to my needs.
I recently visited the Red Wok in Phoenix off Thomas Road, and I must share a deeply concerning experience. While eating, I discovered a rubber band inside the crab meat on my plate. To clarify, this was not part of the shell or claw but an actual rubber band embedded in the crab, which is completely unacceptable and unsafe. When I brought this to the staff’s attention, they dismissed it by claiming the rubber band must have come from the bundle of noodles. This excuse only heightened my frustration, as it still points to severe negligence in food preparation and quality control. When I requested a refund due to this alarming issue, they outright denied it, refusing to take responsibility for such a serious matter. This is a clear health and safety hazard. What if a child or baby had eaten this and choked? The thought of the potential danger is horrifying. Such an unsanitary and careless practice is unacceptable, and the lack of accountability from the staff only compounds the issue. I strongly advise others to think twice before dining here. The lack of basic hygiene standards and customer service demonstrates a disregard for both safety and satisfaction. I hope this review serves as a warning and prompts the management to reflect on and improve their practices to ensure no one else has to endure a similar experience.
Came in at night. Paid for my meal and a dirt Pepsi. Finished a whole plate and started making another one before my waitress took my receipt. When I got back to my table I only had a water, no diet Pepsi. I kept waiting for her to come by for my Pepsi or for me to grab her attention but she spent all her time cleaning forks or attending table near her. It wasn't untill I was on my third plate of food before I was able to her attention and get the diet Pepsi I paid for. About 20mins. Food was decent but allot of it was bland. Sushi was old and dried out. A lot of the chicken was hard. They clearly let a lot of food stay out under the warmers for longer than it should be. At one point there was only one spot for plates. All the other spots were empty. I will not be back.
I was so surprised and impressed by how clean and appetizing the food looked. Wonderful presentation and different offerings of food and affordable.
