About Red House Chinese Restaurant
Red House Chinese Restaurant is located at 3221 N Main St, Dayton, OH 45405, USA, and can be contacted at (937) 535-2998 or +1 937-535-2998. According to recent observations, the interior of the restaurant is currently closed to customers, with signs indicating that only takeout service is available due to "disorderly customers."
One customer who recently ordered takeout shared a mixed experience. While noting that the exterior and the situation gave a somewhat negative initial impression, they were pleasantly surprised by the quality of some of the food. The orange chicken was described as flavorful, the fried rice well-prepared, and the crab Rangoon as having a satisfying crunch. This customer had ordered the orange chicken combo (with substitutions for chicken fried rice and shrimp egg roll) and the soul chicken combo.
However, the same customer also mentioned an issue with customer service, feeling it was unnecessary to be told they couldn't take pictures of the door area after having already taken a few. Additionally, a follow-up to this review indicated that leftover orange chicken was not good, with the chicken tasting stringy and potentially not being of good quality.
Another previous regular customer reported a decline in food quality in recent times, mentioning that the chicken often seems soggy and the egg rolls are overcooked. They did note that the service remains very friendly and suggested asking for the chicken to be cooked longer.
Based on these recent reviews, Red House Chinese Restaurant currently operates as a takeout-only establishment. While some customers have found certain dishes to be quite good, there are concerns regarding food consistency and quality, particularly with chicken dishes, as well as some reported issues with customer service. Potential customers may want to be aware of these recent experiences when considering ordering from Red House Chinese Restaurant.

Customer Reviews
Update: I didn’t finish all of my orange chicken and rice on the first night that I bought it so I had it as leftovers the next day and it wasn’t good. The chicken tasted very stringy like there was hair or something in the chicken almost like it wasn’t really chicken. I recently ordered takeout from Red House Chinese Restaurant located at 3221 N Main St in Dayton, OH, and I wanted to share my experience. Upon arriving, I noticed that the inside of the restaurant was closed to customers due to “disorderly customers,” which was a bit concerning. There were signs taped to the door and windows informing patrons that takeout was the only option available. While the exterior and the situation gave off a slightly "ghetto" vibe, I decided to give it a shot anyway. I ordered the orange chicken combo which came with pork fried rice however I exchanged it for chicken fried rice and it also came with a pork egg roll, which I exchanged for a shrimp egg roll and I ordered crab Rangoon. I also ordered soul chicken combo which came with shrimp fried rice in a pork eggroll. To my surprise, the food was quite good! I had heard mixed reviews about this place, but my first experience was positive. The orange chicken was flavorful, the fried rice was well-prepared, and the crab Rangoon had that delicious crunch I was hoping for. However, the customer service could use some improvement. When I went inside to take some pictures and videos of the door area, I was told I couldn’t do that, which felt a bit unnecessary, especially since I had already taken a few photos before being approached. Overall, I would consider returning to Red House for takeout, but I think I might stick to the items I enjoyed rather than trying a wide variety of options due to other reviews I’ve read. If you're in the area and looking for a decent Chinese meal, this spot may surprise you!
This use to be my favorite place to go since I moved to Dayton but these last few times the food hasn’t been the same! Not as good chicken always seems soggy and egg rolls over cooked. Very friendly and just need to ask them to cook your chicken a little longer
My question is, why do you refry old chicken wings and sell them for the same price, the meat be all hard and the bones are burnt. Did you know that is a NO when it comes to the Health Department? After chicken been sitting for so long it's no longer any good in the restaurant industry. You do realize what you are doing, selling old food and reheating leftovers for the same prices. Some of your shrimp is not deveined, even the little shrimp. You overly coat the batter to make things appear bigger than what it is, your whiting is disgusting, to all reading try it out and see what I am talking about. Shame on you, the neighborhood is watching and others, health hazard on so many levels.
Average. Ordered chicken and snow peas, spring rolls. Chicken was tough and the dish was tasteless. Spring rolls were so soggy with grease and also tasteless.
I ordered for myself the one thing that usually can tell you everything you need to know about a Chinese restaurant. The egg rolls. 99% of the time if they can make a good egg roll they can make good food. Also you will find out if they serve real sauces with their food or colored water with sugar or salt depending on the sauce. The egg rolls were ok. Sauces were fake. My wife wanted the house fried rice. It was like the egg rolls. The egg rolls were OK. Nothing special. But overall the prices match the quality. It's food that is better than many. I give it a 3.5 🌟. Only because the food is just worth the money. P.S. I still call this false advertising. How can someone call this soy sauce when it's not made with soybeans? P.p.s. I'm starting to get the feeling that no "Chinese" restaurants here make fried rice. None of the budget "Chinese" restaurants put eggs in the fried rice. Cooking fried rice is supposed to be old white rice. Day old cooked rice. Oil, vegetables, seasonings and fried then egg well scrambled in. You guys here get old rice. With chicken bullet seasonings and oil. Unless you go to a real Chinese restaurant and shell out 14$. Even the smallest Chinese restaurants in Lubbock TX could cook real fried rice. But obviously not here in Dayton Ohio.
