About Red Dragon Teriyaki Restaurant
Welcome to Red Dragon Teriyaki Restaurant, a dining establishment located at 7034 Pacific Ave in Tacoma, Washington. Situated within the platform category of Chinese Restaurants, Red Dragon Teriyaki presents a menu that appears to blend elements of both Chinese and Japanese-inspired cuisine, with a particular emphasis on teriyaki dishes. This restaurant offers services for both dine-in and takeout, catering to the local community in Tacoma.
Red Dragon Teriyaki Restaurant operates as a Chinese restaurant that also features teriyaki, a Japanese cooking technique where food is grilled or broiled with a glaze of soy sauce, mirin, and sugar. This hybrid approach suggests a menu that might include classic Chinese dishes alongside a variety of teriyaki plates featuring different proteins. As a local establishment in Tacoma, it aims to provide accessible Asian cuisine to its customers through both on-site dining and the convenience of takeout.
Customer reviews for Red Dragon Teriyaki Restaurant provide insights into various aspects of the dining experience, including food quality, service, and pricing. One reviewer highlighted the exceptional niceness of the owners and the great prices offered at the restaurant. However, this positive feedback was contrasted with a negative assessment of a specific dish, the chicken katsu. The reviewer described the chicken katsu as thin, dry, and consisting mostly of breading. On a more positive note, they found the spicy chicken to be better. The reviewer also mentioned that the tonkatsu sauce, typically served with chicken katsu, was simply bottled teriyaki sauce. Despite the disappointment with the chicken katsu, this customer expressed a desire to return due to the appealing prices, hoping for improvement in the preparation of this particular dish.
Another customer provided a one-star rating, citing decent service for a takeout order as the only positive aspect. This reviewer was critical of several dishes they ordered. The General Tso Chicken was described as overly sweet, while the rice was noted for having too much pepper and lacking overall flavor. The egg rolls were characterized as small, bland, and flavorless. Additionally, the gyoza (Japanese dumplings) were reported to be overcooked and bland. This review paints a less favorable picture of the food quality at Red Dragon Teriyaki, suggesting issues with the flavor profiles and preparation of multiple items.
Based on these reviews, it appears that Red Dragon Teriyaki Restaurant has aspects that are appreciated by customers, such as the friendliness of the owners and the affordability of the prices. However, there are also significant concerns raised regarding the quality and preparation of certain dishes, including the chicken katsu, General Tso chicken, rice, egg rolls, and gyoza. The discrepancy in feedback suggests that the dining experience may be inconsistent or that different customers have varying expectations and preferences.
As a Chinese restaurant with a teriyaki focus, the menu at Red Dragon Teriyaki likely includes a range of dishes common to both cuisines. Teriyaki options typically feature grilled or broiled meats (such as chicken, beef, or salmon) glazed with teriyaki sauce, often served with rice and vegetables. The presence of chicken katsu, tonkatsu sauce, General Tso chicken, egg rolls, and gyoza indicates a broader menu that incorporates Japanese and Chinese-American favorites. Chicken katsu is a Japanese dish of breaded and deep-fried chicken cutlet, usually served with tonkatsu sauce, a Japanese Worcestershire-style sauce. General Tso Chicken is a popular Chinese-American dish of stir-fried chicken in a sweet and spicy sauce. Egg rolls are fried appetizers filled with vegetables and sometimes meat, common in Chinese-American cuisine. Gyoza are Japanese dumplings, typically filled with ground meat and vegetables, which can be pan-fried, steamed, or deep-fried.

Customer Reviews
Owners were super duper nice, and the prices are great. Unfortunately the chicken katsu was....not good. It was thin, dry and mostly breading. The spicy chicken was better. The tonkatsu sauce was just bottled teriyaki sauce. I hope they get better at making chicken katsu as I really want to go here again, their prices are incredible.
I am giving it 1 stars because the service was decent enough for takeout. The general tsao chicken was sweet, the rice had too much pepper and not enough flavor. The egg rolls were small bland, and flavorless. The gyoza were over cooked and bland.
I ordered the teriyaki chicken and vegetable stifry noodle meal. It came with rice thankfully. I'm writing this because I'm REALLY enjoying the stiryfy noodles ☺️ I'm not usually a fan because in general, I feel like the noodles tend to be too chewy and bland. These noodles from my dinner are, to me, phenomenal! They don't taste old, overly chewy, or anything. I'm pleasantly surprised and pleased. The service was awesome as well. The gentlemen who helped me was so upbeat and friendly. I was really in a down mood before ordering. I wasn't hungry for anything in specific, but my mind has completely changed about this place. Great portioning, flavorful food, and the customer service was on point. I left in a better mood, and after having the food, that sealed it in for my evening. Thank you ! Please give them a try!
This place is absolutely amazing the service that you receive when you walk in the door they are ready to help you! The food in this place some of the best food I’ve had in a long time! And I just traveled by vehicle from East Coast to West Coast and this is one of the closest restaurants I have found to home cooking! This place should get the business! You should call it, Teriyaki Tuesday & Teriyaki Thursday, to ensure you get this place, at least once a week! Don’t even get me started on the prices!
I really went in there to order 3 chicken wings with fried rice. He takes my order and brings me out beef fried rice, and fried chicken with teriyaki sauce on it, and more white rice? I paid $38.00 for a meal that was overpriced to find out they made it wrong. I tried the fried rice there, aye when I say my stomach started to hurt. I gave the food to the homeless people that ask for money by the Fred Meyer. But, I wouldn't suggest this for anyone.
