About Red Door American & Chinese

Red Door American & Chinese is a restaurant located at 1544 N Broad St in Tazewell, Tennessee (TN 37879), USA. They can be contacted at (423) 626-5858 or their mobile number +1 423-626-5858. As a local establishment offering both American and Chinese cuisine, Red Door aims to cater to a variety of tastes in the Tazewell area.

Customer reviews for Red Door American & Chinese express significant concerns regarding the quality of their Chinese food offerings. One reviewer shared their experience over three separate visits, hoping for an improvement, but found the food to be consistently lacking in flavor. They specifically criticized the "fried rice," describing it as plain, tasteless rice that was not fried at all. The Sweet and Sour Chicken was also a disappointment, characterized by mushy breading and improper frying. On their third visit, this reviewer reported finding a string in their food. They concluded that the restaurant prioritizes quantity over quality and, despite potentially friendly service, could not recommend the food or the cleanliness of the place.

Another reviewer echoed these sentiments, explicitly stating that if one is looking for good Chinese food, Red Door is "NOT the place." They also found the food to be "very bland" and reinforced the idea that the restaurant focuses on quantity rather than quality. This reviewer mentioned a perceived decline in quality over the years, suggesting that the restaurant might have been better in the past, and speculated about a change in ownership. They described the Lo Mein noodles as being similar to plain spaghetti without sauce, and the chicken as equally bland.

Based on these two reviews, the Chinese cuisine at Red Door American & Chinese appears to be a significant area of concern for customers. Both reviewers independently described the food as bland and lacking in flavor. Specific dishes like the fried rice and Sweet and Sour Chicken were criticized for their preparation and taste. The presence of a foreign object (a string) in one customer's food also raises concerns about food safety and kitchen practices. The emphasis on quantity over quality seems to be a recurring theme in the feedback.

The first reviewer mentioned that while the service might be friendly, this positive aspect was overshadowed by the poor food quality and concerns about cleanliness. The second reviewer did not explicitly comment on the service in their short review.

Since the restaurant is named "Red Door American & Chinese," it implies that they also offer American cuisine. However, the provided reviews focus solely on the negative experiences with the Chinese food. There is no feedback available regarding the quality or variety of their American dishes. Local users interested in American fare at this establishment will need to consider this lack of information.

The environment of Red Door American & Chinese is not described in detail in the provided reviews. One reviewer mentioned concerns about the "cleanliness of this place," which is a significant negative point. Without further information, local users cannot form a clear picture of the restaurant's ambiance or hygiene standards.

The services offered by Red Door American & Chinese are implied through the reviews. The fact that customers ordered and ate at the restaurant suggests dine-in service is available. Takeout service is also likely, as it is common for restaurants offering this type of cuisine. Delivery service is not explicitly mentioned in the reviews, so local users would need to contact the restaurant directly to inquire about this option.

There are no specific features of the restaurant highlighted in the reviews, apart from the dual offering of American and Chinese cuisine. However, the negative feedback suggests that the quality of the Chinese food is not a strong feature at this time. The focus seems to be on providing large portions, which might appeal to some customers looking for value in terms of quantity, but not necessarily quality.

Finally, there is no promotional information available in the provided reviews. Local customers interested in knowing about any special offers, discounts, or daily specials at Red Door American & Chinese would need to contact the restaurant directly or check if they have any online presence where such information might be shared.

For local users in Tazewell considering Red Door American & Chinese, it is crucial to take the negative feedback regarding the Chinese food quality into account. The recurring themes of blandness, poor preparation of specific dishes, and concerns about cleanliness are significant red flags. If you are primarily looking for Chinese cuisine, these reviews strongly suggest that this might not be the best option in the area. If you are interested in their American food, there is no information available to guide that decision based on these reviews.

Potential customers might want to consider the following if they are still inclined to try Red Door American & Chinese:

  • Inquire about their American menu: If interested in American food, ask about the variety and preparation of those dishes.
  • Ask about recent changes: If the second reviewer's speculation about new ownership is accurate, there might have been changes in the kitchen or management that have affected food quality.
  • Observe the restaurant: If dining in, pay attention to the cleanliness of the dining area.

Given the strong negative feedback on the Chinese food, local users seeking quality in this cuisine might be better served by exploring other options in the Tazewell area. The lack of information about the American food makes it difficult to assess that aspect of the restaurant.

In conclusion, Red Door American & Chinese in Tazewell, TN, has received negative reviews regarding the quality of its Chinese food, with customers describing it as bland, poorly prepared, and raising concerns about cleanliness. While the service might be friendly, the significant issues with the food make it difficult to recommend based on the available information. Local users seeking quality Chinese cuisine should exercise caution, and those interested in American food will need to seek information elsewhere.

I’ve had their food three times, hoping this would be a hit or miss situation, but it has been a constant miss. The food has zero flavor, “fried rice” is plain rice that has zero taste and isn’t fried at all. Sweet and sour chicken always has mushy breading and isn’t fried correctly either. The third time I found a string in my food. Their food is based on quantity and not quality, I’ve noticed. While the service might be friendly, I do not recommend the food and cleanliness of this place.

if you are looking for good chinese food this is NOT the place. the food is very bland. if you are looking for a lot of food this is the place to be. they are 100% quantity over quality here. this place was good years ago but i guess the new owners are white. the lo mein noodles are pretty much just spaghetti with no sauce, very bland like the chicken.

Terrible food. The quality is nothing short of elementary school cafeteria. Atmosphere was very poor. Super hot in there. Like... arid. The food was almost cold. Had no flavor, and a very very small variety of foods. That were poorly cooked. 1/100.. Do better.

When I was here to get take out. The food was fresh and delicious. But was kind of disappointed with the selection. Not a lot to choose from. We really were disappointed that we didn't find "cheesy seafood casserole" on the steam table, along with other items

Amazing...just amazing. If you want a place nearby with good Asian flavor.... leave here and go next door to pizza Inn and order the asian pizza. Spices including salt are totally unheard of here. Lo-mein noodles were just spaghetti without the sauce. The owner must be English since the food is so bland. If your friends say this place is good, you need new friends, don't trust their judgment.
