About Red Door
Located at 217 N 7th St in the bustling downtown area of St. Louis, Missouri, Red Door operates within the platform category of "Chinese Restaurant," offering a place for locals and visitors to enjoy Chinese-American cuisine. Based on the limited but contrasting customer reviews available online, the experience at Red Door appears to be somewhat inconsistent, with opinions varying significantly regarding both the food and the service. Potential patrons should consider these differing perspectives when deciding whether to visit this establishment.
Regarding the environment of Red Door, one reviewer described the "atmosphere" as "actually decent." This suggests that the physical space of the restaurant may be pleasant and adequately maintained in the customer dining area. However, this same reviewer did express uncertainty about the cleanliness of the restroom, as they did not use it. Without further information, it is difficult to form a comprehensive picture of the overall ambiance. The positive comment about the atmosphere in the dining area is a point in favor, suggesting a potentially comfortable setting for those choosing to eat at the restaurant.
In terms of services, Red Door likely offers dine-in options given the mention of the atmosphere. One reviewer clearly dined at the restaurant. Takeout service is also implied, as the first reviewer received their order as such. The availability of delivery services is not explicitly mentioned in the provided reviews, but it is a common service offered by many Chinese restaurants and could be an option provided by Red Door. Interested customers can inquire about delivery when contacting the restaurant at (314) 231-2867 or +1 314-231-2867. The interaction with the staff, particularly the order-taking process, seems to have left a mixed impression.
The customer service experience at Red Door is one area where opinions diverge. One reviewer found the "lady who took my order wasn’t necessarily rude, but wasn’t really welcoming at all!" They further described an interaction during the change handover that felt somewhat distant, as if the staff member was hesitant to make physical contact. This negative interaction significantly impacted the reviewer's overall impression of the restaurant. In stark contrast, another reviewer stated they were "highly pleased with the food and service" and gave Red Door a "thumbs up," indicating a positive experience with the staff. This significant difference in reported service quality suggests inconsistency or perhaps different interactions with different staff members.
The quality and taste of the food at Red Door also received contrasting feedback. The first reviewer had a very negative experience with several dishes. They likened the "fried rice" to "mall rice," implying a lack of distinct flavor or quality. More concerning was their experience with the "sweet n sour chicken," which they described as having a "horrible weird aftertaste" that led them to spit it out immediately. This strong negative reaction is a significant point of concern for potential customers considering ordering this dish. Due to this negative experience with two items, the reviewer was hesitant to try the "crab ragoon" or the remaining "rice," despite noting that the food "smelled so bomb." This highlights a disconnect between the initial aroma and the actual taste experienced.
On the other hand, the second reviewer was "highly pleased with the food," offering a completely different perspective on the culinary offerings at Red Door. This positive feedback, while brief, suggests that some customers have found the food to be satisfactory or even enjoyable. Without specific mentions of which dishes were ordered and liked by this reviewer, it's difficult to pinpoint consistent winners on the menu. The stark contrast between these two reviews underscores the variability in customer experiences at Red Door.
Currently, there is no information available in the provided reviews regarding any specific promotional offers or discounts at Red Door. Given its location in a downtown area, it might cater to lunch crowds with potential specials, but this is purely speculative based on location rather than direct information. Customers interested in knowing about any current promotions or deals should contact the restaurant directly using the provided phone numbers. Checking local online food ordering platforms might also reveal any advertised specials or bundled meals available for delivery or takeout.
In conclusion, Red Door, a Chinese restaurant located at 217 N 7th St in downtown St. Louis, presents a complex picture based on the limited customer feedback. While the atmosphere was described as "decent" by one reviewer, another experienced unwelcoming service. Opinions on the food quality also varied significantly, with one customer highly critical of the fried rice and sweet n sour chicken, while another was "highly pleased" with the food overall. The crab rangoon was not tasted due to the negative experience with other dishes, despite its appealing smell. Potential customers should be aware of these mixed reviews and may want to consider trying a limited order initially to gauge their own experience with Red Door's food and service. For inquiries about the menu, services (including delivery), or any potential promotions, contacting the restaurant directly at (314) 231-2867 or +1 314-231-2867 is recommended.

The atmosphere is actually decent. I’m not sure about the restroom cause I didn’t go in. The lady who took my order wasn’t necessarily rude, but wasn’t really welcoming at all! When she handed me my change she didn’t throw it at me but kind of placed it on my hand as if she didn’t want to touch my hands. I’m really bummed out cause I really wanted to like the place but save your money and go elsewhere. The fried rice reminds me of mall rice, and the sweet n sour chicken had this horrible weird aftertaste that as soon as I chewed it I spit it back out. I didn’t even try the crab ragoon or the rice I was too afraid, and it’s a bummer cause it smelled so bomb.
I was highly pleased with the food and service. I will most definitely be going back to eat. The Red Door restaurant gets a thumbs up from me.
Pretty good fast service not the best Chinese food I’ve ate but a good cheap option in this area definitely.
Me and my friend ordered for pick up. When we got there to pick it up, food was hot and fresh. Our food was delicious! And the staff were super nice! Also loved the atmosphere inside. We will be coming back next time we’re down.
Ordered delivery to a nearby hotel. Food came much quicker than expected. We ordered rangoon, soup, lo mein, rice, and two types of chicken. Everything was great and lots of veggies in each dish, which we like!
