Rain Modern Chinese offers a variety of dishes, including soup dumplings, pork belly bao, spicy crispy chicken, and roasted duck noodle soup, as mentioned by one customer who had a negative experience on Valentine's Day. This customer reported that while the soup dumplings were satisfactory, the crispy chicken appeared overcooked and potentially fried in old oil, and the duck noodle soup was described as bland and inedible, leading to a loss of appetite and subsequent illness. They also expressed dissatisfaction with the service, noting that the server seemed indifferent to their feedback about the noodles and included a 20% tip on the check despite the uneaten food.
In contrast, another customer had an "absolutely delicious" first experience at Rain Modern Chinese and stated they would return. They particularly enjoyed the beef chow fun, which they found phenomenal and noted was available on a $12 lunch special. This customer also praised the great service they received.
Based on these reviews, experiences at Rain Modern Chinese appear to be mixed. While some customers have found certain dishes and the service to be highly satisfactory, particularly the beef chow fun lunch special, others have reported significant issues with food quality and service attentiveness. It is advisable to consider these varying experiences when deciding to dine at Rain Modern Chinese.

Customer Reviews
I had a terrible experience on Valentine’s Day. We made a reservation ahead of time and were seated right away. We ordered soup dumplings, pork belly bao, spicy crispy chicken, and roasted duck noodle soup, planning to order more once we finished since we were really hungry. However, aside from the soup dumplings, nothing was good. The crispy chicken looked overcooked, possibly fried in old oil, and the duck noodle soup was inedible. I took a few bites and had to stop—it tasted bland and almost made me sick. We ended up leaving the noodles untouched and lost all our appetite. The only thing we ate was some plain rice with a little chicken. We mentioned to the server that the noodles weren’t good, but she didn’t seem to care. Instead, she brought us the check with a 20% tip already added, which felt frustrating. While it wasn’t the server’s fault that the food was awful, she showed zero effort to ensure our satisfaction or even ask if there was anything that could be done. It was especially off-putting that she included the tip without addressing the issues. Maybe she assumed we wouldn’t tip since we barely ate, but we would have tipped if she had done her job well. The table next to us also left their food untouched, which made me wonder if the food was just that bad. After I got home, I started throwing up, and I’m definitely not coming back.
Absolutely delicious! First time here and will not be the last! I love beef chow fun, and it's hard to come by. They have it on their $12 lunch special & I was phenomenal. Everything was 👌 great service as well!!
Awesome service, cute and zen like decor that’s great for a solo meal or a group. I had some great appetizers and a well made lychee martini. The service was fast, attentive and they put an extra touch on things (like starting off the service with complimentary tea). I had the pork bao buns, crispy jumbo shrimp with honey glazed walnuts, pork egg rolls, and fried rice. Everything was fresh and tasty and a great price.
Stopped here for some Asian appetizers on the way to VT traveling from NJ. We had the Pancakes with Curry Sauce which was delicious, and the Crab Rangoon. It was refreshing to see the Crab Rangoon with a stuffing having more crab meat than cream cheese. They also serve hot tea, on the house! The only thing weird for me was the 20% tip they added even when we were a party of two, but since the service was nice we weren't bothered much by that.
My husband and I visited for dinner. We ordered peaking duck, shrimp fried rice, stir fry edamame and shrimp dumplings. I’d pass on the edamame it needed more salt, the shrimp dumplings were not very flavorful, the duck was good I’d order it again. The shrimp fried rice could use some more veggies or even bean sprouts. Also, 20% tip included in the bill even for 2 people.
