About Pure Spice Chinese Restaurant

Welcome to Pure Spice Chinese Restaurant, located at 2446 SE 87th Ave in Portland, Oregon. As a local Chinese restaurant, Pure Spice aims to offer a variety of Chinese dishes to the community. You can contact us at (503) 772-8888 or via mobile at +1 503-772-8888 for inquiries or to place an order.

Based on customer feedback, Pure Spice Chinese Restaurant has some standout dishes that have garnered positive attention. One reviewer enthusiastically recommended the soup dumplings, describing them as "gushing with flavor." They also highly praised the spicy Szechuan fish with green beans, calling it "absolutely delicious" and noting that it comes with a side of rice. These comments suggest that Pure Spice may specialize in certain Szechuan dishes and soup dumplings, which could be considered signature items.

However, other customer experiences indicate potential inconsistencies in service and food quality. One reviewer expressed disappointment, especially considering they had recently moved next door and had hoped to become a regular customer. This suggests that their initial experience was not satisfactory enough to warrant repeat visits.

Another customer shared a negative experience regarding dining in close to closing time. They mentioned being strongly encouraged to take their order to go, despite arriving with 35 minutes before closing. This policy or situation might be a point of consideration for customers planning to dine in during the later part of the restaurant's operating hours.

The same reviewer who was pushed towards takeout also expressed significant dissatisfaction with their order of duck over steamed rice. They noted the speed at which the dish was prepared, receiving it in under two minutes, which led them to suspect it might not be freshly made. Their concerns were validated when they found the duck to be cold and excessively bony, with very little meat that required significant effort to separate. Additionally, they felt that the portion of duck was misleading, as it appeared to be more substantial on top of a bed of soggy lettuce, suggesting a lack of overall value and quality in this particular dish.

These contrasting reviews highlight the importance of considering individual experiences when evaluating Pure Spice Chinese Restaurant. While some customers have found delicious and flavorful dishes like the soup dumplings and spicy Szechuan fish, others have encountered issues with food quality and service, particularly regarding takeout orders and dining in close to closing time.

Given the limited information and the mixed nature of the available reviews, it is difficult to definitively assess the overall environment and services of Pure Spice Chinese Restaurant. The positive comments about specific dishes suggest that the kitchen has the potential to produce high-quality, flavorful food, particularly in the realm of Szechuan cuisine. However, the negative experiences point to potential issues with consistency, particularly for takeout and towards the end of service hours.

Currently, there is no promotional information available in the provided reviews. To learn about any lunch specials, daily promotions, or other offers at Pure Spice Chinese Restaurant, it would be best to contact them directly at (503) 772-8888 or +1 503-772-8888. They can provide the most up-to-date information on their menu and any ongoing specials that might be of interest to local users.

In conclusion, Pure Spice Chinese Restaurant in Portland, Oregon, appears to offer some highly recommended dishes, such as the soup dumplings and spicy Szechuan fish. However, potential customers should be aware of reports of inconsistent food quality, particularly with takeout items like the duck over rice, and the possibility of being discouraged from dining in close to closing time. The service seems to vary depending on the circumstances. If you are interested in trying their praised Szechuan dishes or soup dumplings, it might be worth a visit, but it would be prudent to consider the full spectrum of recent customer experiences. For the most current information on their menu and any promotions, please contact the restaurant directly.

This is the spot to find the yum yums you are looking for. Delicious soup dumplings that are gushing with flavor. Try the spicy Szechuan fish with green beans! Absolutely delicious. Comes with a little bowl of rice.

Damn. Very disappointed considering I just moved next door and would've come back often. I walk in alone with 35 minutes till close and ask to eat in. They give me strong push back saying I have to take out. I order duck over steamed rice, pay, and turn around to look at the menu further. Less than 2 minutes later, it's ready. I should've known the duck was going to be cold given how quickly it came out. It was incredibly bone-y and I really had to work to separate the little meat there was. My last bit of hope vanished when I realized there wasn't as much duck as I perceived. Instead, it was all an illusion on top of a bed of soggy lettuce. At least there are dozens of other Chinese restaurants in the area...

I was skeptical. No MSG probably not as good. This house fried rice is one of the best I've ever had. Just enough oil to have that sweet fatty flavor. It is not too dry not too moist. Might be ranked one. The duck noodle was also very good. The skin remains surprisingly crispy.

such nice people! excellent boisterous atmosphere, and my egg custard buns (one of my favorite foods since childhood) came out shaped like cute little pigs! it was a lovely whimsical surprise, and really brightened my day. this is a classic dim sum restaurant, very nice!

Favorite for dim sum and dinner. We drive in from Wilsonville to eat here and our family from out of town always gets a doctor go on their way out of town. They have us pickup takeout if we’re traveling that way to visit. It’s that good. Totally authentic and sooo delicious. You order off menu for dim sum vs carts which is nice since my husband is Muslim and can’t eat pork so easier to read the options and order.
