One first-time visitor to Porridge King expressed significant satisfaction with their experience, stating that the food was "absolutely delicious" and the service was "great." A particularly unique feature of Porridge King highlighted by this reviewer is their policy of allowing customers to bring in their own seafood to be cooked by the restaurant. This customer took advantage of this offering, bringing in a fresh crab from 99 Ranch and having it prepared as an "amazing salted egg crab," which they rated a perfect "100/100." Impressed by their initial visit, they expressed a strong intention to return to try more dishes and highly recommend the restaurant to others.

In contrast, another customer who visited for a late lunch had a more mixed experience. While the service was described as "fine" and the hot tea was appreciated on a cold day, their disappointment stemmed from a specific dish, the Shrimp and Egg Chow Fun. They noted that the noodles used were not the thicker variety they were accustomed to, describing them as "thinner and skinner" and tasting "like they were from a package of instant noodles," lacking the characteristic "Wok Hei goodness." Due to their dissatisfaction with the chow fun, they did not eat much of it, consuming only the shrimp and eggs. However, they also ordered the Roast Duck over rice plate to go and ended up eating it as well, finding it to be "good." They particularly enjoyed the duck meat, eating it with a little rice to offset the richness. This reviewer found it difficult to give a definitive review due to the contrasting quality of the two dishes they ordered, suggesting that others should try the restaurant and form their own opinions.

Considering its name, Porridge King likely specializes in various types of congee, also known as porridge, which is a staple in many Chinese cuisines. However, the reviews indicate that their menu extends beyond just porridge, including popular dishes like chow fun and roast duck, and the unique option of preparing customer-provided seafood. This suggests a diverse offering that caters to different tastes and preferences within Chinese cuisine.

The service at Porridge King is described positively by one reviewer as "great," while the other found it to be "fine." The first review emphasizes the overall positive experience, which often includes good service. The second review, while critical of a specific dish, did not find fault with the service itself, indicating that the staff were likely efficient and courteous. The willingness to cook customer-provided seafood also suggests a flexible and accommodating service approach.

A standout feature of Porridge King is undoubtedly the option for customers to bring in their own seafood for the restaurant to prepare. This is a unique offering that allows diners to enjoy fresh, personally selected seafood cooked to their liking by the restaurant's kitchen. The positive experience with the salted egg crab prepared from a customer's fresh purchase highlights the potential of this feature. Other features include a diverse menu that likely includes a variety of porridge options, as suggested by the name, along with other popular Cantonese dishes like chow fun and roast duck. The contrasting experiences with the chow fun and roast duck indicate a potential variability in the execution of different dishes.

There is no information about any specific promotions or special offers at Porridge King in the provided reviews. Local users interested in dining at Porridge King might want to inquire directly about any current specials, particularly regarding their seafood preparation service or any featured dishes, when they contact the restaurant.

In conclusion, Porridge King in Daly City offers a diverse range of Chinese cuisine, with a particularly unique feature of allowing customers to bring in their own seafood to be cooked. While one customer had an excellent experience, praising the delicious food and great service, especially the custom-prepared salted egg crab, another had a mixed experience, finding the roast duck enjoyable but being disappointed with the shrimp chow fun. The service was generally viewed as either great or fine. Local users might be interested in trying Porridge King for its unique BYO seafood option and its potential for delicious dishes, while being aware that experiences with individual menu items can vary. Given the restaurant's name, exploring their porridge offerings might also be worthwhile. It is recommended to contact the restaurant directly for any inquiries about their menu, services, or current promotions.

First time visiting Porridge King, and I’m really impressed! The food is absolutely delicious, and the service is great. One unique thing about this place is that they allow you to bring in seafood for them to cook. I picked up a fresh crab from 99 Ranch, and they prepared an amazing salted egg crab—100/100, so good! Definitely coming back to try more dishes. Highly recommend!

Came here for a late lunch and it was cold outside, I was tired and missed my lunch and it was almost dinner time. I had a long drive to my hotel and I knew there would be traffic. I just finished a job in the same parking lot. I walked over here as the other places said Cash Only on their door! I ordered the Shrimp and Egg Chow Fun and to go I had the Roast Duck over rice plate. I was super hungry and literally anything should taste good to me. I dug into the shrimp chow fun and was kind of disappointed 😞 the noodles they were using were not great. I think they were not the thick ones have had my entire life. They were thinner and skinner. They tasted like they were from a package of instant noodles. No Wok Hei goodness either. I didn't eat much and just ate the shrimp and eggs. Super disappointed. Since I didn't get any satisfaction from the chow fun I ate the Duck plate as well. That on the other hand was good. I just ate the meat and a little rice to cut the greasy fattiness from the duck. The service was fine and the hot tea was welcome on a cold rainy day. Not sure how to review this as it was bad for me on a easy well known beloved dish. You guys try it and tell me!

Good place for roasted Duck or Porridge after grocery shopping at 99 Ranch. Porridge was filling. Duck was flavorful. Not feeling the dipping sauce.

Haven’t been here for a while since they were closed during the pandemic. First of all, they served you a free tea. OMG!!!! I couldn’t believe my eyes there were a hair sticking on a glasses. It was so disgusting!! My appetite was gone even though I was hungry, I wanted to throw up🤮 I managed to order rib porridge, brisket beef and fried noodles. When I checked out and about paying by credit card. They said cash only. Don’t remember if they have changed a payment method after reopening. Anyway, it was a bit annoying paying cash only because their foods not cheap compared with other similar restaurants. Service was good, but not sure if I would come back after such horrible experience.
